His devastation ability is most of the times disrespected by lower lvl players. Asta can be kind of squishy early on, but late on the game its definetly the best tank for most of the teams. The fact that most times his abilities cant be seen in kind of damage makes ppl forget about the tremendous utility he brings to any team.
He is best used in a magic based team, since he benefits from additional magic damage provided by the others weapons. Furthermore his shield and 3rd ability compensates the lack of armors on your mages
Galahad: More about damage and doesnt support his team that much Ziri: Really hard to kill but reveals her second line Asta: Great support, tank, makes his team really strong Cleaver: Does damage and reveals the back line, is also probably the tankiest and hardest to kill tank Rufus: Really great for anti-mage teams
Not a fan of Ziri or the other one like her that burrows into the ground as it leaves the rest of your team undefended and easier to be destroyed while she is underground.
I'm working to get him to absolute star, need 33 more at this time! I have his Devil skin because increases his magic attack, all his skills are based on that
Can put Asteroth on any team. Time out team, mage team, physical team, campaign, can help glass cannon character survive to deal more damage. My fave tank ever. Has the coolest skin too, his magic atk skin 😍
Great video as always. I didn't like him initially, but I took your advice ages ago and I'm glad I did. I can't think of a better tank and water bottle is where he belongs.
For me Galahad is the secondary tank who sits behind Astaroth, but charges to the front to take some of the weight off Astaroth. He's also a fair DPS character. Galahad is also good when you have an enemy Faceless or similar that moves Astaroth to the rear of the party. Normally that would reveal your squishy second line. Galahad says, "You what, bruh?"
Astaroth is all right, but it takes a while for him to be full power. His flame veil is nice, but a single group attack skill will do heavy damage if not outright destroy it.
The energy burn skill that he has is easily overlooked. While trying to find ways to deal with magic teams I tried Cornelius for hit special murder caster skill. However due to him being in the back, Astaroth stole his energy and he could barely use this skill. For most teams this would be martha never or rarely boosting the teams attack speed.
Totally agree with this. Astaroth is the best tank in the game. He kinda sucks below violet, bit once you get him there and unlock his revive he really starts to shine
He's very durable. He can resurrect one member of your party once (usually himself). He creates shields that makes your entire party more tanky. If there's a tier list he's tier zero, and the only reason you work on other tanks is because you can't take three Astaroths into the Grand Arena.
his shield sucks. i dont know why everyone keeps praising it. is there some sort of calculation that im not aware of. his shield only blocks physical attacks and the shield has a total health of 30k when the basic attack of any physical attack hero is over 50k. He should have a shield on par with Rufus shield ability which is 300k around 10 times that of Astaroth. i think his shield ability is the worst in the game. its gone as soon as he casts it.
I 100% agree...however, in my opinion, there doesn't seem to be much point and sinking resources into his blue lvl ability. The benefit vs cost doesn't seem worth it as opposed to using that gold and ability points towards something more substantial...what are your thoughts? To me, an additional .1% damage reduction per increase, is negligible...if you've got extra money and ability points laying around; sure, otherwise...meh.
I understand the priority of glyphs, but should you wait until you have 40/40 of one to move on to another? Same thing for skins. His Barbarian skin now takes 790 stones to level up each time and that takes forever to accrue. Should I level up the default skin in the meantime or wait to level up the barbarian skin?

I prefer him to be my first tank which reach absolute star because his soul stones available from 4 campaign quest in early game. His resurrect skill is amazing, somebody get a 2nd chance on the field. He can't damage a lot, but he only need to survive and protect other allies (absorbing shield, damage transferring to him, energy burning). My 2nd favourite tank is Galahad. He can do a lot of damage and available from the beginning like Astaroth :) Maybe one day i finally unlock Cleaver, because i prefer physical teams and other tanks don't fit to them.
Morrigan teams neutralize him, in my experience. Or maybe I am not running in to really buffed versions of him, but I smash him, and don't even think about him in the context of "do I need to worry about him" when picking a team to fight.
Ast is probably the best tank but he can pull you in multiple directions with Mdef, armor, and magic attack. Celeste can be an effective counter to his resurrect in GW/CSW.
Could you explain why you would invest in armor, health or strength before magic attack. It is magic attack that determines how many points are restored by Last Word.
Armour reduces the damage he takes, health increases the damage he can take, I recall hearing that strength also increases health. There's only two heroes who do magic attack with their auto attack so most of the time Astaroth is sucking up physical damage. Hence armour, health, strength, magic attack.
Corvus/Morrigan neutralizes Asteroth pretty effectively with my team. because his resurrect is canceled, and I generally can defeat him even at fairly substantial level difference, because his damage is low (in my experience) I place him a tiny bit behind Corvus because I like a bit more damage output. He falls into 2 or 3 on my tanks list, I am leaning towards #2 fairly strongly in front of Luther because Luther's primary pulls him out of the front line, and unless he is substantially more powerful that the team he is fighting (which he is never in my experience because he is on my 2 or possibly 3 GA team) he fires his primary, and opens the team to frontline attack. (but my #3 team NEVER wins in GA, it's always the sacrifice so I don't have a good feel for performance, same for my L/K, they are improving, but always get smashed in GA, so it's tough to evaluate.) Much appreciate the info as always, you are a great resource. My war team is Corvus/Yasmine, Morrigan, Celeste and usually Helios for Auto or with Faceless or Alvenor depending on context, sometimes with another warrior for high damage situations (Bob or Qing or Maya) All these are my highest buffed heroes, with Corv and Yas being #1/#2 with the most resources being invested. If I spot my fights I can beat teams 20 levels higher and 1+ color higher, if I don't spot my fights I can usually beat +5 levels in Arena. I'd love your thoughts on this team configuration. I have been toying with adding Phobos, because Morrigan benefits him, but I will need to invest pretty substantially to bring him to equivalent power, and my research has indicated he isn't worth the investment to slot in, and I would need to pull a hero that I rely on to fit him. For pet I am using Oliver, but working on Axel when they are equal, I will probably use Axel for this team.
Asta is best when paired with Faceless because sadly Faceless make MUCH better use of Astaroth's ult. Astaroth's ability to resurrect a hero once per fight usually gets used by himself, and he dies soon after. Personally I'd take Aurora hands down. She can be a bit expensive resource wise, but she's worth it.
I agree, he is in my opinion the top tank in the game as far as tanking abilities. I use him with my Karkh team. Galahad is most fast pace physical damage tank, and Cleaver is in the middle of them both. JUST MY OPINION 😏
I'm a new player on mobile...I got free Lunar skin so I didn't use strength skin stone to buy Barb skin after I collected 5000 of them over time (maybe three weeks!), I use it for something else :P...I got Lunar skin very early on when I just played the game so I wasn't sure how........LOL
I have Astaroth as tank on my magic team and Galahad as tank on my phyiscal team. I am debating on which tank (among Rufus (54), Luther(45), Ziri (46), Ishmael (22) ) to level up (Team level 81 right now) as third tank.
I agree with everything you said, but he's not my favorite because he is too squishy UNLESS you invest a lot to build him up. It also bothers me that he does very little damage (but if he did he would be OP, so I get it.) That said, I am trying to build him up to make him as useful as you say he is (and that I've seen on other teams!)
I would have expected you to go stop sign considering he is fundamentally defensive. I would that he is the best tank, but I have not played with cleaver or chabba or Ziri, though. I don’t think he is ever a bad idea. It just surprises me that he is basically universally necessary.
I really appreciate when you help with the mobile platform. I'm still trying to figure out who I want as my main team. Asteroth, has been off and on. I think at the level I am. He is okay... I just hit level 83.
Have you seen anybody using Cleaver, Qing Mao, Arachne, Jhu and Martha? Just thinking that with Cleaver grabbing the last hero up and with Qing Mao and Arachne hitting or stunning the front line and Jhu attacking the rear might be a ok team. My Jhu is not strong enough for me to try this team out right now and no one on the server I'm on uses Jhu that much.

I have more problems with a highly buffed Orion than I do a highly buffed Lars (without Krista) Single Hero, I give Orion the nod, but L/K if equal to Orion are more effective because of their synergy. But DOH team of equal strength I think gets the nod over L/K. Hard to evaluate singly, because you don't really play any hero alone.
Do you still have Aurora in dead battery? So not true, at least on mobile! She's very anti magic like Rufus, but carries more utility and the dodge is underrated
Just got my Astaroth to absolute star! He is all around a great tank. Burn enemy energy, shield, and let’s not forget the revive...you can’t get more utility.
