Donnie yen is 6th degree black belt in taekwondo and you have all seen his wing chun skills in Ip Man.....the combination makes him freaking awesome!!!
Donnie Yen cranks everything to 11 that is his USP! He has this very comic booky and manga-ess outrageous style in alot of films but will reign it in time to time. Donnie for the Win!
"Let's roll, Kato". Sorry, couldn't help it; Yen looks good in the mask, though. Tremendous Martial Artist; one of the greatest living. Love his work, and this video is spectacular. Job well done.
@jpfmsantoz In this movie, he uses MMA, and Jeet Kune Do. He mentioned it on his blog. Because Chen Zhen and Kato was played by bruce lee, and Bruce Lee's martial arts concept is that of MMA, that's why he used that.
unfortunately option that allows to watch this video on mobile devices is unavailable for this video. probably because of copyrights i guess. i'd love to switch this option on but i can't :(
@scorpionpark7 i am not a win chun practioner, but lot of sources said that Donnie's fighting in Ip Man 1 and 2 is not real wing chun (based on wing chun but does not contain a lot of moves from it), proteges of the real Ip Man even went as far as calling that "a copied version of wing chun" anyway, despite that, donnie made "his stle of wing chun" more entertaining, fancy and eye-popping (because real wing chun would emphasize on self-defense and bringing down people with one or two strikes)
Those who say that Donnie Yen is emulating Bruce Lee and Jet Li are seriously blind and misinformed. Yen doesn't move or do the stuff the same way as those two (using this as a standpoint doesn't count because it's part of the FOF franchise). All the FOF references throughout the film make clear sense because it's a SEQUEL to Yen's TV series which in turn was a remake of Lee film. Li's Fist Of Legend is also a remake of Lee film so any excuses of Yen being a copycat for attempting a FOF film after Lee doesn't stand or you might as well apply that to Jet as well.
