Hello everyone! EpicLinkSam here again, having been the one that commissioned this track. First off, I want to give an absolutely huge thank you to Brandon for bringing my dream fight track to life. He, Lili and Tyler did an absolutely stellar job at the song, doing everything I could've wanted. The Symphogear-styled instrumentals, the Yuki Yuna-styled vocals, the Kamen Rider Kuuga nods in the track, and how the song gets so many things for the two. I can easily imagine the fight going with these vocals. This comm has been a long-time process since 2022, and I'm so happy to see that it finally brought to reality. I've been in and out of the VS community for some time, doing stuff like writing fan-made fights and extending the tracks. I've been here and there throughout the community, chipping in every now and then. But this match-up, this is the kind of legacy I'd love to have on the community. And with Death Battle's future looking more stable than ever, I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed that this one happens sooner or later. The one that needed it the most

Had completely forgotten this one was set to receive a vocal version. If I had an Euro for every track featuring Symphogear that was more than a year old, also featured Kamen Rider inspiration and that received a vocal version in the last 30 days I'd have two Euros, which isn't a lot but it's funky that it happened twice. Was quite looking forward to this originally and, after listening back to the original for the occasion, I can definitely understand why because the OG was already really good but definitely would benefit from lyrical additions. And this pretty much proves it as this vocal version absolutely does improve on the original in a multitude of ways. It manages to add onto the song really well with varied lyrics that break the slight monotony that the track builds up over its duration and it does so while having really nice integration of virtually all its lines. Still have yet to watch Symphogear and Magical Girl shows really aren't for me (not saying they're bad, just that they really aren't shows that fit my tastes so I don't watch 'em) so I can't really comment on the lyrics themselves and the signification they have but as far as my ignorance goes, they sound cool-enough even without knowledge of what they're representing. But of course the main highlight in general here would probably be the sheer quality of the deliveries throughout the song. I believe this is the third time that this vocalist is featured in Brandon Yates' work and unsurprisingly they once again showcase a great performance. Aside from one singular line which I'll mention in a bit, there's not a single delivery that feels off throughout the entire song and the vocal range shown at various times (more on that later) makes the whole thing feel extremely dynamic and energetic for the best. As said before however, there's just one line that being the 1:18-1:24 one which really contrasts with the instrumental and not in the best of ways. Given it's the only line in the song that isn't in English I assume that it's a reference to one of the two series which may explain the peculiar delivery but regardless it sounds quite off. Still, like I said it's only one line in the entire song so it hardly subtracts points in any significant way from the track as a whole. Especially when, as aforementioned, the rest of the vocal deliveries are done so well. And while I'm onto negatives I have about the song I might as well cover the one other "issue" I have which is also a bit of a nitpick, that being the vocal inclusion, or lack thereof, in the 3:00-3:43 segment. My issue being, as said just before, that the song doesn't have any vocalisation at all during this whole entire segment. Now in most other vocal versions where there's a sizable gap in any lyrics it's generally to welcome a guitar solo which in itself possesses a major presence that makes the lack of vocals not be felt. But here, even if this segment is IMO the highlight of the instrumental, it doesn't have quite the same impact as a guitar solo which makes the lack of vocals feel a bit weird, almost like for some reason they were "forgotten", especially since virtually 100% of the rest of the song has vocals, making this one gap even more noticeable. Now, as I've said earlier this is a bit of a nitpick as it doesn't really remove from the song (and especially not the vocal side of it given it's a lack of it that I'm noting here) but it is worth mentioning nonetheless. Now that this is done let's go back to the positives AKA the entire rest of the song and what I was talking about earlier with the different tones that the vocals have throughout the song, I really like how they manage to have both very upbeat and fast moments while also featuring more serious and "majestic" ones. Fits really well the tone of the matchup from the little I know of both sides in addition to completing the instrumental really well on that end as it also featured a similar dynamic. Which brings me to the other major related point to that that the song has, that being the repeated Kamen Rider-referencing segments throughout the song (IE: 1:09-1:19). The original segment in the instrumental wasn't bad obviously but it felt ever so slightly out of place in the instrumental so seeing it be further implemented into the song with the vocals here is really good and I like the fact that it has a major role and progression even more. What I mean by that is how it evolves from just a single-layer segment that's pretty energetic but still similar to the rest of the song in its first appearance (1:09-1:19), into a repeat of this which then changes into a two-layered segment with a regular vocal layer but also a second much more "childlike" backing layer which feels much more energetic and dynamic (2:30-2:38), to then finish with the song's climax where the more energetic and heroic layer is actually the main one (starting at 4:04). This progression of the segment really adds to the song's personality (and also sounds extremely unique due to the deliveries of the secondary vocal layer that are really cool-sounding) and has a clear signification that I can't say for sure due to, once again, my ignorance of the characters but if I were to interpret it I'd assume that it would either mean that both characters would start appreciating the fight they're apart of more and more as it progresses and they'd end the battle as a friendly battle instead of an agressive one. That and/or possibly also a showcase of heroism throughout the song as the segment gets more and more energetic which could be synonymous to that, starting with the first go of the segment where they behave as they would but progressing with them showcasing more and more powerful abilities as they use more and more of their powers, determination and skills to try and win. Either way, regardless of what this progression is supposed to mean it most definitely is one of the song's highlights due to how unique and cool it is, a great addition to an already really good song. Overall this vocal version is an extremely solid set of additions to an already very good track. It fixes the one notable "issue" the instrumental have and barely has anything negative to note about it while also having a ton of personality both due to a really nice integration of vocals and a wonderful vocal performance in general. It feels dynamic, original and just generally very enjoyable, and I say that as someone who once again has nothing to do with either series so this shows how well done it is so I'm sure that fans of the characters/franchises/matchup will like it and understand it even more. Amazing job as always to both artists with this.
