More Like A Petal - Vocal Version (Omni Man vs Pink Diamond) 

Commissioner here. I'm glad so many people love this. I think Brandon did a great job of catching the emotions I was hoping for in this track. I hope this makes the matchup more popular because in my opinion this is one of the best matchups for both characters since it's actually a debatable matchup and it works so well thematically.

This is the only Omni Man matchup where he doesn’t either crater his opponent or gets eradicated off the face of the earth and I find that funny

This was unexpected, but as they say "always expected the unexpected"

I love how the lyrics aren't a battle between morals from the combatants but more like Nolan fighting between completing his mission or living with his family. It sounds like he's expressing admiration and envy towards Pink Diamond and he, realizing the similarities, begins to question whether he's as superior as he believes he is. I think Nolan would still win the physical fight but would ultimately lose the battle of emotions. Pink's determination and love towards her friends and family may strike a chord with Nolan even if he wins and it might, just might, inspire him to abandon his mission much like he did in canon.

I like how the lyrics seem to be mostly focus on Omni-Man singing to himself about his opinions on Quartz and how she conflicts with the human race. I was expecting a back and forth typa thing like with Cell vs Xion, but I don't know if I like this better

I like how the metal comes in with the oppressive sounding lyrics but the reflective lyrics are balanced with a sweeter melody.

does anyone else feel song is being told from Nolan’s perspective, as if he’s seeing parallels between himself and Pink Diamond. Other than that, this is actually a very motiving track to battle with

The concept of this fight makes me incredibly sad. One person liberated themselves from their empire and the other would destroy them. And they'd never know what it was that they really destroyed.

This is "Immovable object defender vs unstoppable force invader" the fight. I'm assuming that whatever Steven can do, pink can do as well.

At the beginning of the song, the phrase "More like a petal to me" can be seen as Omni-Man dismissing Pink Diamond, seeing her as weak, like a petal since they aren't very sturdy. By the end, it can be instead seen as a form of admiration, having seen that Pink became more than what she was meant to be, which was formerly something that just "cuts like a diamond"

No matter who wins this, both Steven and Mark will be terrified because they now theyre next

Well this one is different, it feels like only Omni-man is singing the lyrics unlike other vocal tracks where both characters get chances to shine. I’d say it works because unlike Nolan Pink had more genuine care for those around her, creating a dynamic that I’d like to see in an animation

This was both lovely and horrifying. Your singing was mostly calm, but then listening to the lyrics it sounds threatening but also coldly dismissive.

Y'know, I probably should have expected this track to receive lyrics. Also quite interesting for this to be the third vocal track in less than a month. As for the track itself, it's nice as one would expect. Making use of the fact that this isn't a duet between two vocalists to focus on only one character to be the one represented in the lyrics is an extremely unique dynamic that I wouldn't have expected. In a way it's a "bad" thing because by definition it excludes one of the two characters a ton but I think the track here manages to make it work by making the other character be the centerpiece of most of the lyrics. This makes the whole thing very interesting as it not only manages to make all sides of both characters stand out but it also results in very unique lyrical composition given that only one of the characters is actively engaging in the lyrics. And of course the lyrics themselves are also blended pretty nicely with the instrumental. I do think that they're not perfect and a lot of the deliveries just feel a bit off tune but it's not enough to make the track itself feel off which means that they're still fine in my books. However I must say that I do have one issue with the lyrics and the vocal additions as a whole. As said before they do have a very unique dynamic to them but honestly I do think that in the grand scheme of things they don't add too much to the track itself. It may be because by now I'm used to vocal tracks completely revolutionizing each song they're used on but here they just don't have that feeling. Unlike most of the vocal versions, this one doesn't feel as much of an improvement as much as it's a sidegrade of the instrumental: it essentially showcases the same things as the instrumental with the duality that the characters have between one another and themselves and doesn't really capitalizes on anything new. Of course that somewhat comes with the job because the instrumental already did an absolutely fantastical job at showcasing both characters' different facets but it does result in the vocals feeling almost "superficial": they're certainly not bad and add to the song but if you remove them you're still left with sensibly the same song in what it conveys and how it feels. Still, I must emphasize that this issue isn't one that means the song's bad. As said it just means that instead of being a direct upgrade to the instrumental, this one's a sort of sidegrade: both versions can be listened to just as well without really losing or gaining much so it's up to personal taste which version you like more and that isn't a bad thing in of itself. Overall this track is both very unique and very classic at the same time: it doesn't really add much to the original track which makes it less interesting than most other vocal versions by nature but it makes up for that by having a dynamic that straight up hasn't been made before in commissions and its lyrical composition is more than decent with tones that haven't been seen or very rarely too. I personally prefer the instrumental myself but I do admit that I've come to like the track much more the more I listened to it to write this which shows that it's most definitely not bad in the slightest (and who knows, maybe it'll end up like Nobody's Perfect's vocal version where retroactively after I wrote my review for it I end up really liking it due to almost completely ignoring the cons it has because its qualities overshadow them). Also I didn't mention it but the visualizer made by Infotron (at least I assume Infotron made it) is pretty cool. Regardless, great job with this for sure.

I'm gonna be honest, next to Bardock, this is probably the best Omni-Man matchup out there, both thematically and in terms of how fair the actual fight is. Hell, I'm just gonna straight up say that Rose wins. Frankly, I don't buy the debunks for the Diamond Blast feat even slightly and she's much faster regardless.

Speed: Flew to a planet in the Virgo Supercluster in a week, making him ~Massive FTL+ Haxs: He can transmit and hear others thoughts, can heal wounds that would usually leave large scars, and has insane reactive DNA Abilities: Insane durability, speed, and resistance to high heat/cold. Pink Diamond Strength: Should be equal to, if not stronger than white diamond and the other diamonds who created the corrupting light, and could scale to Steven’s Pure-Gem and Pink States due to them being the same gem (the same states that STOMPED White Diamond). Making her ~Country Level, probably higher Speed: Comparable to Pearl and Steven who can pilot fast the roaming eye and dodge light based attacks, making her ~Relativistic Haxs: Can regenerate her entire body from just her gem, her body will adapt to any conditions she’s put in, has a pocket reality in her gem, can possibly possess others, and can BFR things with her bubbles. Abilities: She can create Gemstones and Shards, reflect attacks, can damage light (somehow…), create shields, is an expert swordsman, create force fields, reflect attacks with her shield, and yell loud enough to shatter walls and harm gem constructs permanently. So who wins? Personally I think it’s quite obvious. While Pink Diamond may have plenty of haxs that COULD BFR or Incapacitate Omni-Man… Omni-Man is so much stronger and faster that it wouldn’t matter. It is perfectly in character and likely that Omniman would just instantly poof her in one swift move the second the fight starts and before pink could even react and then crush the gem she leaves behind. Leaving nothing of her left. Omni-man is efficient and INSANELY experienced, meaning that he probably wouldn’t leave an obvious gem lying around after the body of his enemy just disappeared. (He has a tendency to see and exploit weak points, see how he dealt with the guardian of the globe) Pink Diamond may’ve been uniquely powerful but against Omni-man’s sheer speed, experience, strength, and ruthless battle style, her chances were shattered.

Omni-Man Solos Verse Steven Universe

Based on what my brother who saw both series full said, Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond should be scaled like ten times above what Steven showed and still would be no match for Omniman true strenght and durability. Still, i can see how this becomes a fight for a while.

I am not a fan of Steven universe, but at its beginning it did definitely have potential, this said however, this is a matchup that actually works, to warlords who connected with humanity to become something better than what they once were, and honestly, only man wins. The gems as a species might have overall better hax abilities, but let’s not kid ourselves, there’s no question in my mind omni man can crush that diamond. The gem species as a whole don’t really have that good of a survivability, if you cut off their arm, the “human” body dies, yes they can regenerate from the gem, but come on now that’s not the point. Omni man has far far better survivability, and as for durability how much force is required before either one of them takes damage, even if I highball pink to upsurge degrees, I just don’t see her having the same durability. The main gimmick of the actual fight would be how many man kills her and then she regenerates, it would confuse him for a second or two, but how many times before he sees she’s regenerating specifically from the diamond and he grabs that and crushes it to end the fight
