Hetfield was aware of the hell these guys went through just to play metal and invited them backstage personally out of deep respect. This is not Hetfield hooking up a random fan- this is Hetfield paying tribute to some Metal Heros
Jeremy LEE Haha thanks, I try. And someone who would leave a comment like this is probably equally as wonderful. Let's hope my EMT course goes smooth so I can stay a happy and efficient person.
+jackskelly18 slightly more than a 'fan'. he's in the ban that risked going to jail just to play metallica music. this is WAY WAY bigger than jusdt handing it to a 'fan'. this is seriously once in a lifetime shit
Whoever says Metallica doesn't care for their fans doesn't know what he's talking about. I used to be a huge fan years ago, but I lost my flame for them. However I know for a fact they are super cool with their fans.
I don't know what is do with myself being labeled biggest band on the planet. I'd feel like I got nothing else to accomplish in life lol, but then again they earned & deserve it.
I'm not sure Hetfield realises that Acrassicauda risked imprisonment and execution in Iraq to play Metallica songs just for the love of them. They are one of the only bands that would literally die for their love of metal.
+WickDippingMoon Why wouldn't he realize that? Does this action not prove that he realizes that? Do you believe that he doesn't have time to try to understand their plight as you so clearly do?
He CLEARLY knew what they had to go through because he said "That's for keeping the faith." Faith in face melting motherfucking riffs being surrounded by dick weeds too stupid to appreciate fucking METAL!
If you haven't seen the documentary "Heavy Metal in Baghdad", find it now. Awesome story about these guys. I'm glad to see they finally have their long hair.
This documentary should be recognized with some sore of price. It took more than just the risk of loosing their lives for the ones who made the film, also the chance for the band members to never get to see the remaining of their own families anymore. They now have long hair, meaning they'd made it, but it's truly the definition of sweet and sour. More likely a very sad reality. My perspective of how I see people from Iraq has changed, and they have my deepest respect!!
This is so amazing. I'm a bit choked up watching this. If you've seen the documentary about this band, then you know the hell that these guys have gone through--literally risking their lives to play the music they love. The feelings of hopelessness and despair they endure. And to see the shock and joy of receiving a guitar from their idol--and James didn't just give them some cheap copy of one of his sigs. Looking at the wear on there, this clearly one of the ESPs that he personally played back in the early 90's. So cool. I actually to meet these guys when they played a show at a club in NYC several years ago. Cool dudes. And it was so gratifying to see them playing their music in a safe place surrounded by fans and love, and not dodging bullets and avoiding religious fanatics who would do them harm for the mere act of playing music.
That was literally the coolest thing i've ever seen. And the guy's reaction was just so damn priceless. You can only imagine what was going through his head. "OMG OMG OMG,WTF IS HAPPENING, IS THAT JAMES HETFIELD, OH MAN I ROCK OUT TO HIS ALBUMS SO HARD AND ITS GOT ME HERE AND NOW HERE HE IS!!!" And I love what the guy says "Share the Pickups" ROTFL right
Awesome. I can't imagine what these guys went through, from playing metal at the risk of their lives in Iraq to making it here to America and having Hetfield hand them a guitar. That's an amazing story. I'm glad they made it and wish them well here in the U.S.
these guys went through hell just like me and so many other METAL HEADS but they were lucky to get out ... I'm still living in the hell they left and still listening to METALLICA till this moment I'm writing my comment
If ask me i dont see only an exellent performer gives a gift to his fan I see a wonderfull person makes happy a new friend.. Respect to James Hetfield and Metallica
most people throughout the years say if I ever meet Hetfield, I am going to ask/talk about blah blah blah. Then he walks up to you and gives you a guitar and you are speechless. lol. good on you guy, that is probably exactly how I would of reacted.
HOW CAN ANYONE WHO'S SEEN "HEAVY METAL IN BAHGDAD" DISLIKE THIS CLIP? WATCH that movie! If you're a metal fan, watched the movie and have the privilege of living in a civilised western world you'll LOVE Metallica and Hetfield more!
I sympathized with this Gentleman through video. i cried in joy for him. Im just blown away but that moment that man got to live and that will shape his life forever. I'm quite curious as to what the messages is that he wrote....
+The Conrad Let alone that an ESP MX-250 (like the on he's giving away) is well worth between $2000-4000. But the fact that it has been owned by him and signed by him.. Priceless.
And the most: it is all filmed on a video, so no mather the signature fade away while you play the guitar, you have all the experience on RU-vid and photos
Love this video, man. Heard where these guys came from and this is just fucking beautiful, I'll proudly admit I shed tears. James is an amazing human being!
This just shows what a great guy Hetfield really is. This brought tears to my eyes. It's amazing how diplomatic some people can be. This just goes to show that we can unite with our brothers from the Middle East. I can't begin to imagine how happy those guys were to receive that kind of welcome. Though I'm not the first, welcome to America guys! I'm sure we're going to love the music that you guys have to offer!
Sir James Hetfield. Gentleman. Icon . God . and the story behind this handover is just as iconic . these boys deserved the recognition. His face was priceless and heart warming.
What a sentimental moment for those guys, I know I would be brought to tears too to meet the dude I always listen to. Acrassicauda is awesome can't wait for some full length albums!
the fact that hetfield gave HIS own original ESP explorer which are rare and arnt made anymore shows his respect towars his fans and that he cares about each and everyone.
I thank you all for those who have told the true story about this......I thought he was just an epic fan of James. But nontheless...the epression on his face told it all..........can you imagine meeting your music influence, not only in person, but doing what he did? Total respects.....
I want THAT to be my moment......this is amazing omg....see that dude face? im 35, ive been listening to theses guys since I was fucking 12, saw them 10 times, got al records...this is my favorite EVER
I watched the whole documentary of this band from Iraq, they are legit! They struggle a lot just to keep their band together in a country where you can be dead any time, at that time these dudes went literally underground to be able to play heavy metal. I have massive respect for these guys! James just paid some real tribute to these guys and it makes me very proud as I am an old school metal head!!
I was just thinking when I was halfway through their documentary on Vice "someone's gotta get these guys to a Metallica show"....I see they're way ahead of me
@ronthedon2 they are very talented. I watched their documentary and purchased it afterwards to support them. I'm gonna buy their EP soon too. They put so much to be here and deserve the best.
This shit is what it's all about. The look on his face when he accepts the guitar is priceless. This is the kind of brotherhood that only metal can create. Garden of Stones is one badass tune. Worthy to be on every metalhead's IPOD. Long live the Brotherhood.
