The announced Ultimate Upgrade Kit for the classic Sim Pedals Ultimate is now available in our webshop.
Remco from Heusinkveld Engineering explains in this video step by step how to apply the Upgrade Kit to your throttle, brake and clutch.
First of all - for which pedal set can the Ultimate Upgrade Kit be used?
All Sim Pedals Ultimate purchased from early 2014 onwards (fitted with RJ-plugs on the pedal cables) are compatible with this Upgrade Kit. If you own a set of Sim Pedals Ultimate with screw terminals on the controller (late 2013 - early 2014), please contact Heusinkveld support first.
You do not need this upgrade kit if you have bought the Sim Pedals Ultimate+. The Upgrade Kit is not compatible with Sim Pedals Pro or Sim Pedals Sprint.
What parts are included in the Upgrade Kit?
With this Ultimate Upgrade Kit you get the main technical enhancements as seen on the new Sim Pedals Ultimate+. Key components are:
An all new EMC tested controller box, which can be used with the powerful Heusinkveld SmartControl software.
A brand new brake rubber stack assembly with our new custom made brake elastomers. These elastomers give an unprecedented progressive feel to the brake pedal and have been tested to retain their performance even after a million duty cycles. The new rubber stack assembly also includes a knurled knob for easy preload adjustment.
Added bearings on spring rod pivots. These improve the smoothness of the pedal, reduce unwanted noise and greatly extend the durability of the pedals.

@@RemcoHitman I've emailed a couple times. Either my load cell has gone bad or there is something wrong with this upgrade. The original version allowed for good progressive braking. Muscle memory. Now the same technique can result in ok fast turn braking but lock ups immediately after in a slow turn for no reason. This should not happen. I'll need to go back to the original version at this point just to complete a race.

What about the dampers? I’ve seen the ultimate+ has new ones. Are they different in terms of feelings?

Hi, the steel springs and dampers are technically unchanged, so they are not part of the kit. The working is the same.

Is there a plan to have a similar upgrade kit for the Pro model? At least for the bearing, bushings, and rod (not really needed for the controller)?

Hello Mark, no we haven't. The last Sim Pedals Pro were sold in 2018 and we are no longer doing any development on this product. You can of course count on us for many years to come with regard to regular spare parts. Your HEUSINKVELD Team

The rod ends for throttle, brake and clutch now feature a PTFE bearing. Fairly recent Ultimates (2021) already have this installed but for users of older sets this is a welcome upgrade 🙂

Can someone tell me what the nut thread size is for the throttle rod for locking the preload. My Ultimates didn't come with any installed and just has the plastic adjuster.

So, you are forced to use the pre-load spring on the Ultimate+?

We recommend you leave it in but you can turn the preload up to maximum and squash the spring completely. You would lose all preload if you took it out, and the pedal might develop some slop.

installation not really clear to me, get confused with the washers because you did not show which one you picked from the kit, video is too quick. Why do I have 4 smaller and only 3 bigger washers? looks like a thimblerigger, super quick that I cant really fallow 😧

You may have noticed that many companies are currently having difficulties getting certain components delivered. Unfortunately, we are also affected by this. The lead time for components needed for this product have multiplied several times in a short period of time. We have components on order for some time now to be able to produce a sufficiently large quantity to satisfy all demand for the Upgrade Kit. We do however have to sit out longer delivery times for these components. Therefore, all we can do is continue to be patient. Even if this is not the answer we would like to give you. The ultimates were released before they developed the smart control software… Would you rather have them pull a Fanatec and ditch development for the ultimates and sell the upgraded set without any way of upgrading an ‘old’ set? You should be applauding HE for enabling their customers to bring their previous purchase up to new spec at minimal cost.

Hoi! DriveHub ondersteunen we niet omdat het onduidelijk is wat de PS5 onderhuids met het signaal doet. Dan zijn zaken als calibratie en lineariteit volkomen onvoorspelbaar wat tot allerlei vage klachten kan leiden. Omdat we daar geen ondersteuning op kunnen geven werken we er niet mee. Sorry!
