There is a sophisticated electronic unit hidden in Hazet's handle. The mainboard must have been broken during the shipping from Czech to the USA. That is why the WiFi does not function anymore in yours. But please try resetting it, as described in page 123 of user's manual, maybe it just hung? 😉
Hello again Doc Thank you for another Great Video 👍 I have several bit drivers. My ratcheting Craftsman bit driver having the longest bit extension. It's more than ten years old. It has served me well. Again thank you 😊
Maybe I am getting old but while I have the non ratcheting ones I never use those unless I have to for some reason. 99% of time I am grabbing a ratcheting bit holder. Actually that's a lie as my goto is the Dewalt 8v screwdriver. I love that thing and you can change the grip. My main manual ratchet model is the Wera but it really has a lot of wobble. The LTT looks like he did a great job. I have a PB Swiss that is really solid but i didn't get the bit storage so I have never used it. Expensive paperweight. If I do ever use a non ratcheting it's because I grabbed my Wera Tool-Check Plus. Amazing tool. I also have the Icon and that is great too but that just has the ratchet. Buy both.
I love ratcheting as well, that's the go-to when I'm at home, but for an edc screwdriver, nothing beats the wera 813r for me, so easy to carry, but big enough to still tackle most tasks I do
I just got a Vessel 900W driver handle - it's designed for longer bits and adaptors like the Gedore, and has the great fit and feel you'd expect from Vessel.
The Gadore 676 works great with Japanese std blades. Through a a Vessel PS162110 #3 flat + JIS and you have a great tool for adjusting Shimano derailleur.
I'd recommend the Malco Connext. Can get a stubby, ratcheting, or standard. Feels amazing holding onto the bitholder lock to stabilize the driver as you are screwing or unscrewing
Doc, you mispronounce Stahlwille name. I thought that you have said Stabila. The very first sound is like 'sh' in 'wish'. Then 'ta:' like in 'tapper', but a little bit longer. Next comes 'l' like the end of 'tall', next 'vill' as in 'village' and at the very end there is an 'ae' sound like in 'poetry'. Try saying sh-ta:-l-vil-ae. Now you said it as a native German. 👍
The Wiha Centrofix bit holder is the best bit holding mechanism invented. Wiha is having issues it seems, so it might be wise to buy one soon in case they disappear. The centrofix deathgrips bits, and feels like a purpose built screwdriver. Zero play. It also holds onto standard, Japanese anvil, Swiss C6, and Festool centrotec bits. It’s clearly not designed to do any of that, but it does.
I use the small yellow Wera ESD bit holder. It is great with stainless steel, non- magnetic screws bc it's easy to hold a screw on the tip with your index finger while getting into tight places.
You can’t go wrong with the Snap-on or PB Swiss ratcheting but my favorite has to be the non-ratcheting Snap-On SGDQ6 with the 89mm Wera bits from the 059297 kraftform kompakt set. I have yet to see anyone on RU-vid review the SGDQ6 btw hint hint
The nice things about that Hazet is that it's dirt cheap, and it grips the Asian 13.5mm anvil pretty well. Vessel makes some Western market JIS bits with the 1/4" anvil, or double anvil, but they're among the exceptions, not the rule.
I just made my own locking bit holder screwdriver by shoving a Hyper Tough locking bit adapter from Walmart into a old screwdriver I sacrificed to the DIY gods.
All excellent quality tools , I do prefer the German tools tbh you cannot beat German engineering in my opinion the quality of the steel used in those tools is the best on the market
Those wera minis are good but mine have become very loose over a short period, they’re not very strong. I pretty much only use it now just to adjust the throttle on my motorcycles carb, works decent for light tasks
...and then you can unscrew the bit storage cap by accident every time you try to unscrew something. Not to mention it's designed for André the giant's palm, way too thick. Stay away from Facom bit drivers unless it's the 1st edition with no BS features. My favorite by far is the older Felo Smart handle. It's rock solid, comfortable, and has zero annoyances.
@@dukefx32 I have zero issues with the bit storage coming lose in mine. Drivers with bit storage are always on the thicker side and similar to other ones i have. Their bit drivers without storage or ratchet are actually pretty slim. especially the Expert series bitdriver which has the most powerful magnet i've ever had, its almost too strong.
back drag is how much effort it takes to allow the gearing to move to the next position when ratcheting, not how much wobble there is with the bit in the holder just FYI
So are we ready to replace standard screw drivers with these yet, or are they not stable enough yet? I'd love to save space in my mobile took kit for the track...
hey doc could you do a video on pocket flip screwdrivers? ive been wanting to get one, almost like one of those snap on style ones or even the promo pocket clip ones, for my on-person carry. i usually have my little craftsman flathead on me at work as maint it comes in handy just for prying or unscrewing outlet covers but i figured i might as well have a philips as well but im not sure whats a good one thats also built good and not just a plastic sleeve with a metal blade. i do love my hoto but its bulky and too much and not as durable just for an overall picking type of tool
@@lastbesttool thanks Doc, you have convinced me over the last year through your love of it to get the stubby. I have the regular snap on soft grip ratcheting. Do you know what I love about snap on and I’m pretty new to their products I love how big everything is like the handles are so chunky and substantial it’s like they don’t really care about portability and compactness it’s kind of unapologetically BIG
@@MATTE.U.K I think if you buy the stubby w/shank (as a complete driver), the shank it comes with only has the single knurling. When I got mine, I ordered the stubby handle by itself, and purchased the 'SGDMRC1-10' shank which has the double knurling. Like Doc, I also love that about it. Great for fine adjustments when you need to be closer to the bit.
For EDC, the Wera. But the odd Gedore with a quality bit holder really rocks for a simple design. It has the small PB Swiss size and you can swap between quarter hex and quarter square extensions. The other two larger handles are similar to many others, but might be less expensive., so consider them more in the also-ran category.
You really need to check out the LTT screw driver from the Linus Tech Tips RU-vid channel, they really did their due diligence to put together a ratcheting driver that is top notch!
