I do think this is pretty cool. I watched a few times and find myself thinking of cathedral window quilts. That is a folded pattern as well. Thanks for this inspiration 😀

I deleted my original comments after giving this a few tries. Measuring in cm is more accurate and this short does not show the content creator measuring anything but it is necessary or the hexies will not fit together for the joining. I used a 10 cm circle (4”) laminated cardboard coaster for my template. Traced and cut very accurately. Folded and pressed to find the center for the first stitch as shown. The second stitch at the edge can be tricky and might not be the same when going around because fabric a gray and the stitch might not hold. Still try to keep this stitch in the fold and when drawing back to the center keep the edge of fabric meeting the center not the stitch. After a couple tries I learned my 6 sides should all equal 3 cm so I measured the sides as they formed and wiggled the fabric into shape and finger pressed as I went. (3 cm is just 1-2/8ths shy of 1 1/4”). When I got last fold I measured all the sides again to be sure of accuracy, finger pressed and tacked the finishing stitch. One more measure around then pressed with an iron to be sure the sides remained accurately folded. I was then able to join several accurately. Nice! It was actually quicker than paper piecing. Not having to use papers, glue or basting stitches was nice. Not to concerned about fabric waste. Batting is so thin these days it will add warmth or could be left out for a lighter weight quilt. Definitely perfect for a small project. Any size circle can be used. It just takes 1-2 circles to figure what the side measurement should be. Good luck hexie lovers!

Is this easier than using paper and cutting the hexies out? I'd love to know the differences

I think it would add a lot of warmth to the quilt having those extra layers of fabric

@@shadowcat1201agreed, I could see backing this in a simple gauze as a coverlet or flannel

@@shadowcat1201I agree, allowing your body to breathe but an extra thin layer to provide weight and warmth. Additionally, I think I would love the dimensional effect that it would give the quilt top.

Any size circles will work as long as all the circles are the same size for each project I like 4in. For mine Not too big not too small.
