Me lol, I actually started yelling the word “yeah” at random times, it basically became a meme and we’d do it synchronized. We also yelled memes. Also yelling “Go Miss keisha go go miss keisha” because we had a girl named keisha
I play the trombone but I'm the "backup tuba" so whenever our sousaphone happens to miss a practice or a game I'll play the tuba part and it's honestly the best part
In Pep Band we always point to one specific person when we sing. Usually they don't know what the heck is going on. For example: We managed to keep it a secret from a tuba player we were pointing to him. He turned really red. And then the next game we pointed at our school mascot who even got a little flustered. (Shrug)
Everytime we play this, someone points at one of the drums majors (especially the male one.) I want to get everyone to try to point at one specific person to see how they react
I fuckin hate the original song but i LOVE the marching band versions to death, so much fun to play when you have that sick harmony stuff with the barritones and the bass line with the tubas
The way my school plays this song makes this recording sound like armatures in terms of hype and intensity, we literally get so hype when we play this song
Ahh the trumpet section leader got his whole section to go to the clarinet section leader’s house, and they played this while he sang “Hey Becky” (her name is Becky) instead of “Hey Baby” And he asked her to homecoming with it. SO CUTE.
I saw this on my recommendations and started to cry instantly. I have to say, I definitely do NOT miss high school or want to go back. But I do miss the fun shenanigans us band kids would do. This is the only thing I miss about high school. Such sweet memories with good friends ❤️
my school band sang this acapella to our band teacher. He tried to stop us after we played it on our instruments and sang the part but we just sang it acapella so he was laughing to hard to stop us.
TheOverlord You’ll be fine. Idk what instrument you play, but one of the great things about Hey Baby is that it’s relatively easy, repetitive, and quick to learn.
At first, our high school dubbed word up as the tuba anthem, then we kept on getting requests to play this for people, and so this is the new tuba anthem.
It's practically a tradition for all tenor sax players to start this and as a new tenor player I had the honor of beginning it this year. Best experience ever.
I can not begin to even imagine how long this song has been stuck in my head for the past like 5 or 6 years since my first time going to a highschool football game as a freshman and I wasn't even in band. It just stuck with me all this time and I will randomly think of the Tubas going and that is it I am doomed to listen to this for eternity.
This is my alarm in the morning, so when I hear the first 4 notes and the tap, I immediately bolt up. Too bad my band is too small to play this. I'd be willing to play my part (first trumpet) and the tuba part 😞
i’m listening to this thinking abt someone asking me out with this song (cause i’m a sax player here) but honestly i can’t ever see it happening :”) i can dream though, right?
The one song everyone admires the sousaphones. I was alone for my first two years and dam every gotta hear that 2 bar solo from freshman that could blast and not explode
Man I played Trumpet, Sax, Snare, Tuba and later Quads during marching season BUT no matter what I always begged our Director to let me switch to Tuba on this song. Has always been my favorite tune
Best arrangement of it I've ever heard! The harmonies on the three different chords that make up "Hey" when the brass is wailing on it are to die for! Go, Tom Wallace!
Low brass supremacy!!! I LOVE THIS SONG BECAUSE I'M A SOUSA AND MY GOD I LOVE THE RIFF AND THE 2 BARS THAT WE GET A VOICE WITH OUR INSTRUMENTS FOR THE "Hey Baby" PART!!
Honestly, this song is so much fun at games. This recording offers no justice to the sheer excitement and enjoyment both band and student section experience when this song is played. The brass are trying their best to he heard over the hoard of voices singing the chorus and it's just a fun time in general.
I have a homecoming idea. Gonna tape a peice of paper to my bari sax and it Will day "Hey baby! I wanna know, homecoming with me?" But Idek if that flute player likes me back..
And I’m that Bells player, who absolutely loves this song. And is actually currently playing this song in our marching band!! (I know I’m late to the party, but I’m here now!!)
I don’t like the original song but the marching band version is so much fun. Especially with the bass line and the trumpets. Gets stuck in my head all day. I’m a trumpet
Me and my crush like each other and we are in band together. Well we do this song at every game and then we sang it all the time around each other. Now it’s our song :)
I love when we get to play this! Even I’m though I’m a bass clarinet player and I don’t ever have bass clarinet parts so I read Baritone saxophone music for this piece
As a Euph who’s played both Hey Baby and Talking out the side of your neck. I love both but when I first listened to neck from a HBCU I felt goosebumps
I’m just saying but when your singing the hey baby just before the, “i want to know if you’ll be my girl” yeah that pause. Say “ooo...ahh” it gets better
They forgot the “Ooh, Aah” after “Heyyyy Heyya Baby” This is what it’s supposed to be: Heyyy, Heyya Baby Ooh, Aah I wanna knowow, if you’ll be my girl. Heyyy, Heyya Baby Ooh, Aah I wanna knowowo if you’ll be my girl
As a bass drummer I can say I love this song more then life I’m gonna miss it when we go back to concert band 😢 I mean the bass drum solo is like a personal challenge to not smile, kinda hard too when beating the crap out of your drum ✋💕
our marching band literally plays this in the band room after every football game no one tells them to play they just do it and it was one of the best experiences for my first year in marching band can't wait till next year
