Hey everyone! We've been CRANKING out some awesome long form content. Check them out and let us know what you think! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CyiX70TjCxc.html
My father passed 4 years ago when I was 19 and some of my fondest memories are of him tying my tie for me for prom or homecoming in highschool. I knew how to do it but I could never get the length right. Plus i knew it made him happy being able to help me look my best. He was a great dad. I miss him everyday.
I‘m sorry for your loss..🥺 Many people didn’t get the chance to see their dad teaching them how to tie a tie.. I know it’s hard but be happy for the moments you could have with him🥺
It would’ve been awesome if you went over desired length and knot styles. That’s a half Windsor which is best for thinner people as well as a medium spread collar. I’d recommend a full Windsor for most people and the length of the tie should terminate right at the top of the belt buckle and no higher or lower.
Honestly my dad was never around so no one ever showed me how to do this it's sad but I'm sure you and I and a lot of other people are all feeling the same way
I'm a girl but my father is abusive and I don't feel like I have a dad so this made me feel really safe even tho I probably won't need this information I could need it for my future partner
Little did the son know, his father was an enforcer and earner for the mob, and did so much coke in nightclubs that he got his own personal FBI and DEA departments trying to bust his ass.
That's because this is a half Windsor knot. You end up with that lopsided looking triangle knot. Look up how to do a full windsor. It has an extra couple steps and had that nice symmetrical knot
I can not express in words how much I love watching these videos. I love the father and son relationship, it reminds me of my Dad. And I love the music, it just makes an overall great vibe
Your dad strikes me more as a double Windsor type. I appreciate he kept it simple with the single, but that wide collar shirt was made for a double and you know he knows that.
Exactly! Especially with that collar, double or nothing. Was this a four-in-hand knot? The knot doesn't look even/symmetrical enough to be any type of Windsor.
I will be honest, this made me smile way more than I expected it would. The calm voice, the easy to follow instructions, the fact this is alos a son father moment. It's beautiful. Thank you.
This is how my father always ties his ties, except he does the crossing of the fat side over the other side as well. I think the dad here does the half Windsor and my father does the full Windsor.
Gotta appreciate just a straight, simple knot. It may not be the best in the world, but it's perfectly serviceable and if you're trying to teach people how to tie a tie it's a great one to go for.
@@JM-dy4ty I don't think it is, a half-windsor goes around another time before pulling through. I believe the proper name for this type of knot is a Kent knot or an Oriental knot.
@@JM-dy4ty it’s called a four in hand, a half Windsor or a full Windsor for that matter adds structure after the first cross over that you would do (wide end crossing over narrow end)
@@MrHaaan are y'all joking? The way a tie is tied is considered unprofessional in some places??? Doesn't the presence of the tie itself = professional?? Y'all are into some weird tie knot supremacy shit
My grandfather thought all of his granddaughters how to tie a tie and still remember to this day. I miss him so much, and all the things he thought us.
"So, your grandfather was a misogynist that teaches how his daughter should know how to tie a tie because he expects them to be a wife?? Where's the freedom, that sucks ngl no cap smh" Not me making fun of some other group
@@phoeNYkx I work in a factory so I never wear ties to work and seldom wear ties outside of work but when I do dress up nice I like to go all out. So the Double Windsor it is!
Your comment should be at the top. Agreed. There’s not enough of this type of content making the rounds in social media, so this was refreshing to see.
My husband never had much time for our sons and when the eldest was going away to a private college many states away. We were shopping at Penney’s and I don’t know how the elderly salesman guessed that I was unprepared to help much. He came up and asked about what kinds of activities was my son interested in. In the next hour, he had coached him about ties, sitting down & undoing the suit coat button, zipper checks and riding city buses. I’m so grateful for good men💕
These are great for one reason. Growing up without a “dad” someone could use these videos to guide them. It sounds simple and stupid but it is 100% true. (This comment got way more likes than I thought! Everyone stay up! Stay positive where and when you can. 🙏🙌)
There’s SO many knots you can do with a tie. My friends and I used to do “tie Tuesday’s” at school and we’d all wear ties. The only special knot I got down was a Windsor. Wish I knew more.
@Robert DaggettThat's a four in hand knot, it's simple but it isn't looked down upon (like you did)from classic menswear enthusiasts. It's a smaller knot which work better with some collars and brings a little bit of sprezzatura into the outfit, because it's not symmetrical like a half Windsor etc. And of course he's not doing a fucking trinity knot for a beginners tutorial!
Never had to wear a tie until now since I’m going to the minions movie with my friends LOL. This is the best tutorial there is. I’ve watched other ones, but I was still confused. This one is quick and easy for me. Thank you!!
Being a guy who wore nothing else but ties everyday before the pandemic, I found those that don't do a double Windsor end up having to adjust their tie multiple times throughout the day. Although the reality of the situation often happens to be down to what the material is made from. Some are just made for a double knott, others aren't.
Every monday during high school, it was mandatory for some of us to wear a tie. Since I learnt to do mine, I was able to help a lot of others. Was happy that I could make good use of my skill 😂
@@moggtheboss3087 good question, we have our official morning assemblies every monday. It's usually the day where the principal gives speech/giving out awards to those who won recent competitions/celebrating birthdays, national reading, science, safety month and etc.
Damn this made me tear up. As someone who was raised almost entirely by my mom, I always wish I had someone to show me how to do this. This video hit me really hard. Thanks man ❤
I appreciate that Agent 47's son is trying to spread the knowledge of tying a tie by recording him himself after years of wearing a tie during his missions. And for anyone out there without a dad, my condolences, and I hope they are in peace and heavens. Edit : I don't know if it is necessary to put that, but I didn't expect you guys to see this comment and blow it up. Thanks again guys. Have a good day.
Getting the knot techniques are the easy part. Estimating the length you need to distribute in each side and constantly remembering it everytime you wear a tie is the hard part. (Especially different ties with different lengths)
You don't need to remember the length you just need to remember that the first time you tie it make a mental note of where the skinny part is landing in terms of shirt buttons and then you can adjust easily on the second try
I'm female and my Dad taught me how to tie them when I was little. He wore a shirt and tie everyday. It came in handy as I've taught all my boys and re-taught my husband who didn't do a good job on his.
I wish I have a dad who can teach me these stuffs. That's why I am so thankful for channels like yours because even just with videos, I can still able to learn things like these. How I wish I have a dad who can teach me how to repair a broken faucet and construct a mini table out of scrap woods. Ps. I haven't met, nor seen, my dad ever since I was born. It's been 24 years since I long to a father figure that I wish to have in my life right now.
@@yellowuser_910 I'm sorry that you have to through all that. Ive been in the same setup as of the moment. I suffer so much physical and verbal abuse with my mother's live in partner for 24 years. It's just so sad that we didn't have the perfect family just like what other people have. Who knows, maybe someday when have our own, we will never make them suffer the same like what we had.
@@fernzlampaz yea, thank you.. best of luck to you, i hope you'll get a better life soon, please remember to always make progress on leaving if you hsve the intention, i dont think living with your mother is safe, because its not good for your mental and body health. And I dont even believe perfect family exist 😓😓God bless you, and i know you will keep your family safe, because you know what it feels, and you dont want your loved ones to be hurt 💗
Damn I needed this a few days ago, I got so frustrated I just quit it because I was gonna be late. Out of all the things my dad taught me he never taught me how to tie a tie
Learn how to do it properly, this makes way too tight a knot, looks like you're going to court and you've never worn a tie before. Learn a full Windsor
Having a good father is extremely important for the Healthy Growth of of a young man. Especially later in life. Don't be deadbeats! My dad only taught me how to twist one up and some table edicate. It was my younger brother who he was partial too. Sometimes just being there isn't enough.
I used to work in the men's dept. in a high end department store, and learned so many different ways to tie a tie. He nailed the most common. Points for the 80's collar reference. 👏🏻🖖🏼
@@JackWoodandShadoo I did. But it's been 30 years since then. Not sure how many are still left rolling around in my head. I'm a lesbian (on the femme side) so I don't have a huge use for tie's. I feel inspired though. Maybe I should start wearing them. 🤔😉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X0yh5rKB9lE.html
@@wioi Wow, do you feel better now? People like you only exist to bother the rest of us who are actually living a life. Not pointing at everyone else. Do you feel better about yourself now? Because your comment says more about you, than me. Get out more and share how you feel. Maybe then you won't have to lash out at others on the internet. 🙈🙉🙊 ✌🏼💗
@@izizamazing3614 I will agree orange cheeto man was awful. Biden isn't much better, but he is bar bare minimum lmfao. And the scary part is maybe half the country still thinks that wrinkly orange is still president.
Seriously, I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I work in a company where everyday is casual Friday, and this was the knot I learned to tie when I was in 4th grade band/chorus. Wasn't a big bowtie fan when I was younger, but I refused to wear the pre-tied bowtie at my wedding and chose to learn how to tie a proper bow tie knot YEARS before I proposed. My wedding photographer made me untie the knot three times so my best man could look like he was helping me tie my tie. It was a good picture in the end because I was laughing so hard.
Agreed, this knot looks like a high school kid going to an interview. Windsor is slightly harder... but you'll look like you truly know how to dress in a suit.
Well it depends on the occasion. The complexity of knot is tied to the level of formality of the event you’re attending, not a “look” you’re going for. Basically, full windsor, weddings etc. Half windsor, most stuff. Four in hand, informal, casual etc. You guys have no clue where this guy is headed
I miss my dad-Thank you both for some family normality in such a crazy time. Never been a tie guy, but I'm going to learn just so i can teach my son one day!
I never realized how little my dad taught me until the night of my senior prom when I had no idea how to tie my tie and he was at work and couldn’t show me 😂
The Windsor Knot is my preferred standard to tie. It only takes 1-2 variations of this knot, and you get a bolder 'V' shape pattern that this knot attempts to mimic by the pinching at end. Both knots are great. I just prefer the classic windsor.
Grew up without my father and this brings father vibes I never had. Thanks pops. I admire the stash in the background. I assume a father starter pack involves a plethora of ties in your closet lol
I feel proud that I'm the only one in my family who knows how to tie a tie. My father says he knows but he is never able to tie my tie. So I'd assume he just says that to make himself feel better 😂. I'm sorry father
This makes me feel so good that I’ve been tying my ties like Johnny Drinks this whole time. All other tie videos make them fancy and complicated and make me feel like I’m doing it wrong
Reminds me of when I taught my brother to tie a tie after our father's passing. Only difference is I add another pass through the side opposite the fold from behind so it's more even. Thanks for passing on this skill for others who weren't fortunate enough to be taught.
I'm just happy and jealous how such a small thing like this was never taught to me, cause I had a broken family. These are the information I swear, i will pass on to my future kids.
@@daggermouth4695 I'm happy because someone is taking time to share these kind of simple information, and jealous because I never had acces to it. Which is something I can proudly teach my future kids, even if it's a small thing they wont even remember I taught them😊
Thanks so much this helped so much I have picture dat tomorrow and we have to put a necktie on and I watched this like 100 times the words in my brain are “ POP THE COLAR UP LIKE THE 80s byw thanks so much like this video.
im not gonna watch this full thing but i have a quick story sooooo :) so im a trans boy and im getting my first suit soon for a school event, and my dad is ESTATIC about getting to teach me to tie my tie (which is why i wont watch this) and its so adorable to see him so supportive and excited
