From my experience with weight loss and as a fellow trucker, it’s not easy. I found that cutting calories too far just doesn’t work, especially if you have a physical job. The way I did it was slowly and steadily over a few months, I reduced my intake by 500 calories a day(from 2700 to 2200) which meant I lost about 1lb per week every week for about 6 months which added up to over 1.5 stone in that time. Starving myself never works and depriving myself of the stuff I like didn’t work either. Good luck with it and I hope you get to where you want to be.
Brought back memories, my grandparents lived very near to where you turned off the Kingston bypass. I remember seeing the large tower block there being built.
i don't want to start a competition but but i've managed to park on a bay while 3 drivers were watching me, THREE DRIVERS !!! now, that's impressive !🤣🤣🤣
Luke eating is a habit and good eating will take its time but once your in a good eating habit the weight will come of and stay off. With the right food you can fill your plate and never feel hungry. Choose the method that’s right for you and works for you, don’t rush it. I was lucky and managed to loose 5st, some is back on but will never put back on what I lost. Health benefits are amazing. Good luck on your journey, don’t beat yourself up on the bad days, refocus and go again.
Luke I'm no expert BUT your weightloss what you are trying to do by only having 2000 calories is called crash dieting which is known to lead to binge eating as you starve yourself so by the app saying you need 3000 and odd it's said that because it wants to drop your calories gradually therefore makes it more successful to stick to dieting, I wish you all the best with it though you can do it and you got the nail on the head do it for YOU
Calorie counting. That’s the best way. Makes you 100% aware of what’s going in. I used My Fitness Pal Lost a stone in a month Keeping it off is the harder bit!
Not so correct, it’s not a crash diet as it’s not a major calorie deficit. If you go to about 1700 calories or below then you’re crashing. The way to lose weight is cut calories obviously and go into a deficit but you need a lot of protein, protein helps lose fat and keeps you full. Cut out sugar and also exercise but keep it within your means and keep it realistic, don’t just go into a calorie deficit and starve yourself, slowly let your body adapt to it!. 😊
Can tell you for a fact that dropping to 2000 calories a day does not in the slightest way bring on binge eating disorder. Maybe be a bit more careful of what you say
@sean masters everyone is unique in the way that some diet’s work for some and they keep weight off and for others they put weight on. Binge eating is cod’s wallop. Being a bus driver in the past I know what it’s like to put weight on. 2000 calories is ok and he gets exercise and should lose weight quite well if eating 3 meals a day and having veg and chicken and fish. Depending if he can get that or get it from home and bring to work. Eating less isn’t crash dieting it’s wise eating.
Recently joined the subscriber base, but the more I watch the more content I need, how is this possible? Amazing personality, seems proper genuine and down to earth, glad to have joined you on this journey bud 👌👌
Hi Luke, good luck with the weight loss - don't rush it, don't push too hard, work on small changes and changing habits. Ignore the muppets that make rude comments, focus on the positives for you and your family.
Thank you Luke. Again Enjoyed your video as always And interesting to watch. Hope all went good at the Hospital for you. And good luck with your Diet. Thanks again. So Stay Safe and Safe Trucking.
Interesting note at 7:15 the red tanker which passed you spilling a liquid all over the road... Could it be a diesel cap moment? That's a very expensive memory lapse!
Our local council had a vehicle returning to the depot. The tank on this 7.5 t vehicle being on the left. The approach to the depot has a roundabout on it. The driver had to go most of the way around the roundabout & did it at speed. He had left the fuel cap off & was dumping fuel out as he spun around the roundabout
Black coffee mate, helped me loose loads of weight barely even changed my diet, just cut milk and soda to out completely. Regular walking my dog and to work too.
Meyers, a very old company traced as far back as 1770s. I used to deliver veneers from the baltic ports on the Essex coasts. Because of its dealings with Eastern Europe and Scandinavian countries around the baltics, it was known for infiltration of MI6 agents imposing as Meyers employees or executives. This is documented freely in the public domain and many books on the subject. I've also loaded the veneers out of Tilbury on flats which was bloody hard work as I had to rope and sheet the high stacks using big heavy tarps and a fly sheet over the top. The old days before they were crated up.
Hi Luke, I have sleep apnea and sleep with machine. It's a game changer and a very easy thing to get used to using. In regards to the weight loss, maybe try slimming world, it's great an easy and you can still have nice food. Take care.
My weight had been increasing while i was driving class 2 vehicles. As a result of renewing my HGV driving licence, the DVLA has taken my entitlement away because i'm at risk of a heart attack. I now drive vans. A lot more easier, better pay and feel much better. If you want to continue your HGV career, think about what would happen if YOU lost your licence. Think that may give you a little boost. Good luck in your quest
Mate had a breathing machine for 8 yrs, first night i used it breath of fresh air..lol. But you wake up refreshed and your wife will love you again, and yes calories, exercise will help also.
Thanks for the video. Losing weight is soo hard, I've been up and down for years! The two times I've had the best success where when I was on a fixed evening rota doing the buses and I could plan my meals really well, I knew exactly what time I was stopping and for how long. The second time is recently doing nights, I fasted between midnight to midday and then only had two substantial meals, one at about 1pm and another about 10om just before work. I hope you're successful, it's disheartening how quick it goes back on!
Hi Luke An excellent video as usual. My partner uses a CPAP machine and it's wonderful for them. They enjoy food so when they went on a diet they chose Slimming World and lost 4 stone. Good luck for the future.
Awesome that you're trying to get in better shape, I've tried so many times and always end up failing but last year was a good year as my GP referred me to a specialist program which showed that the only thing I can do is more exercise as my calorie intake it already at the minimum which surprised me.
Love hearing you mention the A419 and seeing the surrounding area having family and friends in Cricklade! Living in London, I rarely see mentions of this area. Aside from that, amazing weight loss Luke! Good luck on your weight loss journey going forward! You have done a ton already!!!❤
Hi luke. I went from a postman to a lorry driver and put in 2 Stone while eating healthily. The struggle is real. Prob a shock to my metabolism but 1 year on I still haven't lost the weight. I reckon regular exercise and eating well is only way for such a sedetary job. I got some resistance bands to do exercises while I'm waiting. Close curtains if you need some privacy
A guy like you Luke would need about 3500-4000 calories depending on how active you are. 2000 would be too few and make you hungry all the time unless you know about proper foods. Working in a truck actually lends itself pretty well to Keto, lots of cooked chicken and boiled eggs in the fridge, not so good for the cab later on though lol
@@porkpie2884 All diets lose weight if you're in a deficit, you HAVE to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight, so calorie counting works extremely well if you don't let it take over your life and can lead into a eating disorder, depends on the person but you should eat what you can stick do and not limit yourself to foods you don't enjoy to eat or you will just go back to how you were before. Make small changes over time, like diet pop or water instead of full fat etc to lower your overall calories. Also you should think about it as calories at the end of the week, not the day. So some days you can go over as long as at the end of the week you're in a deficit you will lose weight. Alot of mis-information in this comment section. Goodluck Luke :)
Surbiton - anyone else think of The Good Life when they heard that? lol! Ditch the carbs Luke - you dont feel hungry and you will lose weight without having to count the calories.
Great Video Luke, from what I have read it has a lot has to do with hormones etc. and everyone is just different with regards to storage and satiety. But eating low density high bulk foods can help. Oats in morning with zero sugar syrup. I found dairy was what kept me heavy as it is meant to grow a baby to a raging bull in the shortest time possible, very dense. Best of luck, Can't believe some of the assholes.
I lost 5 stone doing the 16/8 diet. I only eat from 12pm to 8pm. Never ate breakfast so i dont miss that. Gives my body time to digest food. No more takeaways at 10pm helped 😂 water and black coffee when not eating
Hi Luke Really enjoy your Channel. You keep telling us about your Eye problem. Hope you get it sorted out soon. I watched an advert on TV about Trachoma which is an eye problem which makes the eyelids turn in wards and irritates the eyes and can cause agonizing blindness. I don't know the facts about your eyes or what your eye specialist has said it may be worth talking to them about it. Not trying to be a scare monger and wish you all the best in a speedy recovery from your eye problem. Just that the advert rang bells for me.
I am having similar with my eye with floppy skin irritating the cornier but the doc gave me some gel eye drops which stops the stinging in the eye the op costs are around £3.300 or a 61 week wait on NHS
I too have sleep apnea, mine is controlled by a ten milligram dose of Montelukast daily. Hope your CPAP machine sorts yours out. You couldn’t have parked that trailer tighter if you tried 😅
😩 yes sorry, my software froze and I had to start again halfway through. I did have a quick skim to see if I could see the ad but couldn’t which is why I added it in again 😂 oops
It will be good weather again soon, get yourself out doing a walk on your time off like you used too as well, even if its just laps of whatever truckstop you are staying at. Cutting down your calorie intake wont do it alone. Im the same, my problem is fizzy juice, if I could stay away I reckon I would easily loose a stone or two. And a bit more willpower to get out when its howling with rain, like it does most days up here 🤣
Rome wasn't built in a day my friend. It took me 8months to stop smoking after 22years of being a smoker. The way I had done this was doing things without a broadcast. It makes things abit more normal and easier. You won't feel the pressure of people saying. Well How's the diet going etc. Its your life your health. Only you look after that
Hi Luke, I’ve got sleep apnoea, I use a Cpap machine i have it in the lorry with me so I can still do tramping, I’m working on my diet to lose weight it is difficult to get the right balance but I try and do walking during the day I use a app to measure my steps I try and hit 10,000 a day plus I’ve included some jogging. (I’m on containers so it’s easy to exercise at times) I’m slowly eating better but for me it’s having strong will power, I was about 13 stone I managed to get down to about 11 stone 10 I’m at a stalemate of around 12 stone at the moment, just don’t give up.
I am a medical student, when working for 4 months on the cardiothoracic ward I was shocked at the disproportionate amount of people were truck drivers. Almost half of all the people waiting for bypass surgery were lorry drivers full time, and they were usually a lot younger than the others who were 70+. Interesting to study it, the huge stress and sitting for long periods could play a role.
@@porkpie2884 You'd be surprised..your body takes most of the things we eat and converts them to carbs. The amount i.e. calories is more important than the content for things lke diabetes and obesity. With atherosclerosis it's mainly saturated fat and genetics along with exercise, so I wouldnt focus on cutting out carbs, just cutting down on processed high caloric density foods in general.
@@chrismcgowan5180 You couldn't be more wrong. Firstly calories are a measurement of heat and bear no relationship to how the body metabolises various foods. Tp2 diabetes is high blood sugar, so cut the carbs you get rid of the diabetes. Saturated fat has nothing to do with atherosclerosis, which like diabetes is an inflammatory disease, which can be prevented by cutting the carbs. No offence intended, but medical students don't learn about nutrition and very little about physiology.
As someone who used to train years ago When you feel hungry drink water? Hunger and dehydration symptoms are the same. If you feel fine after drinking water after 5 minutes. It means you are slightly dehydrated It will help with weight loss
Glad to hear about your diet Luke. I didn't really want to say, but with liquid diets, its very rare they work. What you need is to re-educate yourself into eating three meals a day. Counting calories is far better. No human can drink and then only have one meal per day. That's when it gets boring, and you then go off the diet. My grandad used to say, that you eat like a King at breakfast, a Lord at lunchtime, and a pauper for tea, and you can't go far wrong.
hi under no circumstances should you drop to 2000 calories. I'm not a health professional, but the doctor told me that I need 2500 calories a day just for the body to function, and if I do heavy work, I have to add 1500. if your calorie intake is too low for a long time, you'll get tired and you won't be able to do your work anymore. it can take weeks to recover if the calorie deficit is long-term. I am a 52-year-old man, 190cm/120kg
Love the videos, watched a old vid of u driving to Brighton, u mentioned u thinking about getting your own truck. Wondered how that was going? Any new thoughts on it??
Some idiot cut me off the other day. I had a cop car roll back into me yesterday at the lights. Bloody idiot. I'm going to have to get new tyres soon. Trailer probably have 10k left, truck maybe 20k. Need too get them ordered so they are ready too go. Get a service too as I'm om 135k.
Can i respectfully suggest a food intolerances test Luke, maybe theres something like sugar that your intolerant to may help may not, other than that, stay on the veg and fruit and soda bread, a lot of these so called health foods and zero fat foods are actually liquid sugar and carbohydrates
Absolutely love your content Luke! After watching your videos for quite a while I myself have decided to become a HGV driver. Always watching old videos while waiting for new ones!
I discovered fasting last year Luke and totally life changing. Weight gone and I feel fantastic. When you break your fast, no matter what you eat, it's 3 Michelin stars and made by Gordon Ramsay.
easiest thing to do is intermittent fasting and walking a little more, no breakfast, have black coffee till around 10am eating window till 3pm or 4 pm then you stop eating and use psyllium husk with loads of water in the evening... cut all sugar out try that for 3 weeks and see how you feel , try eat two meals only
Liquid calories is killer. Although, 2,500 is very very low and would cause a crash diet. I’d recommend 3,200 or 3,400. I don’t know your current weight so I couldn’t calculate your required maintenance calories. 3,200 for a guy if your build would be sustainable but as you lose weight you need to reevaluate the calorie intake to energy expenditure.
@@lukecinahgv no no no my friend, i absolutely love all your videos, I really want to become a professional lorry driver and you’re absolutely providing fantastic advice for it. But in terms of off camera/out of unit health, 2,200 is too low. Please reevaluate those numbers. High protein due to slow digestion to fill you carbs for energy gain*, and a fat source to fill you almost immediately. Examples are obvious chicken, steak, salmon (my advice is 2 darnes for you) turkey, Avocados. All basic stuff but you need to see what works best for you in terms of getting these in. Take aways etc isn’t helpful, again obvious. When on work days sometimes you can be “inactive” but on a 45 minute break, a 15-30 min walk would be sustainable even for you on work days. Lots of love to you and your family bro♥️👑🫡
Luke you have made me want to be a trucker when I’m older thank you because I have inspired me even more to be one so thank yo and love the videos keep it up
I remember when lift axles came in as a modification to help the tractor unit with sudden loss of traction on slippery slopes. It was called a dump lever which basically emptied the air suspension bags on the tag axle so all the weight was impossed upon the drive axle. Then they started fitting them on the trailers in order to save tyre rubber when rubber was dearer than fuel. They are usually controlled by air but there are hydraulic lift axles.
Hey luke i love the videos i did buy membership last month but it bounced but im all abord now and i also got ur luke c in hgv sticker absolutely love it and I have just passed my lorry theory wish me luck for next month as i do my lorry test all the best to you luke keep the videos coming love them all 😃😃
I had similar eye issue but the bruising was on the outside of my eye and it was down to my sleep apnea. I've had UPPP surgery and been on a CPAP for the 9 months and it's never happened again. If ya need any help or advice gimmie a shout I know quite a bit now haha
Good luck with the weight loss. Cutting out sugar as much as possible always works. Being a driver id possible go lower than 2000 calories as your volume of movement will be fairly low being sat most of the day. Speak to a personal trainer as they’ll be able to do you a diet plan. Best of luck 👍👍
I have been worried about your weight I must admit. So glad you are doing it. I lost 8 stone last year. I went from 26 stone to 18 stone. New year want to lose another stone, my old rugby paying weight of 17 stone. If you want any tips on how I did it then please ask. Good luck.
Hello Luke as a fellow trucker wait loss isn’t easy however best of luck. But just remember fat people are hard to kidnap so eat cake and stay safe my friend 😂😂
Luke sound's like your not doing a lot of riding for a man that is in very tight places you should be a lot lighter do more riding and never mind eating less and da weight will go all the best and good luck 👍
Weight loss is hard mate you do what you can it’s not easy when your driving all day cut down on the carbs if you eat lots of them I do that’s my issue if it’s your look at a diabetes diet that helped me
