It is a legal requirement to ensure your HGV has no defects before it is taken on the public highway.
As part of your duties as a driver, a pre-use shift check must be carried out. The pre-shift checks should be recorded, signed, dated and retained for inspection etc.
Normally checks should take approximately 15 minutes to complete. A record must be kept, even if no defects are found.
This video goes through most of the items that should be checked.
We hope it will be of use.
