I love this extruder, but there's a small issue with the bearings that makes it randomly bind, but I've fixed it and now I'm showing you how to fix yours!

the main reason for this problem may well be contamination. The bearings are only shielded and not sealed. Like the linear bearings, these may contain fine debris from the factory. Give them a WD 40 shower twice, dry them out and fill them with oil or thin grease. You may have a bearing for life. Thanks for the video.

Super Lube is amazing for smaller bearings on machinery. I use it for embroidery machines i maintain and it's a game changer. Its a synthetic oil so it likes to stick to metal and also makes the machines run much smoother as the oil takes more to sheer or cut through. The plus is that it also has particulates of PTFE that coat all the uneven groves inside the bearing runway. I've been using that and a synthetic grease with PTFE for decades now on anything i can find a use for it I started using it right away on my 3D printers back 10+ years ago and my first printer the Replicator dual is STILL on the same set of bearings with some 20K hours of print time on it. Only thing that has started to change on it some 5 years ago was the tone of the stepper motors and replaced some of the fans. I'm thinking of setting it up for my Klipper pad🤔 Great advice on cleaning them out with WD-40, actually using it for what it's meant for

Yes, but I would recommend using a PTFE adapter and running it the same orientation as in a normal direct drive setup. The PTFE coupler on it does not like the increased pressure

I confirm, stock bearings are very loose. SMR63ZZ much better.

I have a question, which one should i buy? MR63ZZ or SMR63ZZ?

@rics_zip SMR bearings are stainless steel, other is just chrome, so SMR would be prefered

Found this because that bearing wasn`t assembled in mine at all. Was wondering why my gears wobble like crazy. Luckily there was bearing one in the spare bag. Very helpfull. Thanks!

I wonder if the 2.0 version has this issue. Just made a new toolhead using it and so far it's worked really well.

How can I use this HGX Lite extruder in a bowden setup, the product came with just itself and no user manual about how to set it up. Can you help me with it, I just got a free Ender 3 pro from a friend of mine and still learning my ways around this hobby

It would require a custom mount, but it's doable. The PTFE collet doesn't like being in a Bowden setup, so I would recommend running it in reverse and adding a printed part with a new collet on it. Come to the Rolohaun Discord and I'm sure we can get you going with it.

I have been using HGX lite on my hurakan as a direct extruder for several months now. Got my 2nd set works just as well for 2nd printer and also bought some spare gears sets and printed the housing works just as well with a lighter weight. Will get 3rd on my Flsun SR as direct extruder too soon. Thanks for making this video as least I know of the issue❤

What's the difference between MR63ZZ and SMR63ZZ? MR63ZZ seems to be even cheaper 🤔

@@kanrogcreations Actually, I messaged the seller and they replied "SMR63ZZ is stainless steel bearing, while MR63ZZ is chrome steel bearing".

Also check booth the metal pins on which the bearing of the gears are running. I have one hgx where those pins went bad after less than 10 print hours.
