This is the first and only video I found where it’s the exact sound I’m hearing. Although mines is only when I turn on the AC/heater. Thank you so much

Another thing to check that's similar to this is make sure to check your trans fluid level. My car had a very similar sound and ended up just being low on trans fluid. Mine sounded like a whiny power steering pump even though these have electronic steering. Just another thought to check.

For me, this exact noise was also caused by a cheap filter and the wrong oil viscosity which the previous owner had used. I used engine flush and replaced the filter with an OEM one and the noise was gone.

As someone who maintained mine for almost 13 years and got it with 53k and just passed 126k this morning the more I’m looking into these and doing more work myself they just seem to get filthy inside of the motor . I did only use conventional for the first ten years and synthetic for the last 3 . Also I did work only a mile away from home for like 10 of those 13 years so they were short runs which did not help but now am using it to ride back and forth from NY to SC twice a month and it’s doing great. I recently replaced the valve covers and spark plugs , changed fluids and filters except fuel since it is inside of the tank I may add an inline though that I can screws easily now that I’m thinking about that . I cleaned throttle body and MAF btw took bottle body a full week to correct itself after it was idling super high until I put it into D . I tried to clean the top part of the valve cover and the cams on the inside but without much success as I was too worried I’d break something . I’ve been researching and unless someone wants to spend about $400 for dynamic flush kit then flushing after adding about 20 % ATF then 4 qts oil after changing oil and filter then run it with the ATF inside for about 25 mins at idle and then change the oil again and me personally im going to add the BG oil change system the MOA the 44k the the EPR the fuel treatment flush that they give you if you bought the flush kit and then save $340 . I think it will end up working just as good too. I would make a video but there are so many on YT as it is and I don’t think I’d contribute anything new. Except perhaps other than maybe the idea of using the BG stuff that comes in the kit except for the flush itself and flush oil I’m doing the exact same thing except with ATF fluid . Sorry for the rant but I just think these engines run dirty no matter what the owner does like in the video how he said the owner didn’t maintain it well it looked like . I could almost guarantee that motor never missed an oil change . The ones. Who didn’t change their oil ended up in the junkyard already imo .

I've got one that sounds almost like this but not quite as whistly, I was honestly thinking it was the timing chain rubbing the guides tbh, but Im gonna test this for sure lol

This was my problem..Girdled LEA (2.4) block.. i pulled off one of my lines running to the catch can and popped a mesh filter on the intake manifold nipple... problem solved..👍

Great vid. I am having somewhat of a similar issue on my 2010 e class benz. It makes a whistle sort of noise that I think is coming from the front of the intake. When I spray the manifold front with brake cleaner the noise stops. So I am assuming it is sucking air in maybe through a leak or a hose? But when I releave pressure the noise does not go away. When I take the oil cap off I can see little specks of oil kind of flick out. Is there a leak on my intake manifold? I think also oil is coming out through my cap as I constantly see oil around the cap and dry oil on the top of my underhood. The last cap cracked as well. Could a leaking intake manifold cause all of this or is there pressure being cause from something else?

And should i worry? Thanks

Its not the same the intake on my 2010 2.4 has a small orfice where yours has a big hile mine never made that noise until i cleaned all the orifices out i even drilled my valve cover like the new upgraded valve cover now only problem is the squealing with dipstick all the way in im gonna try a new intake and hope it fixes
@jordanjustice6392
@jordanjustice6392 Год назад
Same here, I drilled the small hole out in the intake for a 1/8" as suggested in some videos and cleaned it out very well. I had also just installed the timing and Ballance shaft chains. I thought the noise was due to the main seal or the Ballance shaft tensioner putting the water pump in a bind. But when I pull the oil cap or dip stick the noise goes away. I even bought a baffle oil cap to see if that fixed it. It didn't. So I pulled the timing cover off and checked everything, still making the noise. So I guess next I will replace the intake. Did that fix your issue? Mine only happens at operating temperature.

Today my brother grabbed a hose the part is a mystery. When he moved the hose the sound stopped only to start again when he let go. 98 Firebid V6 3.8L. Some say it's MAF sensor some say Vac sensor. Mine is located to of engine on passenger side top of intake with a light whistle. Will post once figure it out. Cheers til then!!

Alternator? I have a similar noise that gets louder when I turn the steering wheel, even parked. It's definitely a noise that sounds like it's coming from the engine though, but it's high pitched. Would an alternator do that?
