Why is your artificial horizon upside down? Man...I love what you did to that Hi-Max. The gear is clean, not like most with all the trusses (that always bothered me about that plane), and the cowling...beautiful!
If it feels a little sluggish, you need to try a PSRU on the VW... tremendous performance enhancement . Valley Engineering makes a good one. Very nice flying !
you must have a cruise prop on that bad boy huh? she sure goes fast. I used to have one with a 1700 vw.. I think mine routclimbed youres but you are at least an extra 10 to 15 mph... must make going places a lot easier :)
Did you also build a Hi-Max with a VW Full engine (4 cylinder, 1600cc)? What is your opinion about this engine in Hi-Max? I plan to build one and put that engine. Thanks.

Hello! I am Askold's brother, he delegated me to answer You, he has something wrong with his Google cont. He does not fly with this plane 5-6 years, mainly because plane began to loose climb characteristics, whitch was not quite good at the begining, but became worse and all improvements were not successfull. There are 3 main problems: 1. Weight (EW 280kg), 2. Noseheavy (15%approx), to compensate it, he lifted rear mounts of horiz. stabilizer 1cm, to eliminate backpressure of stick, 3. engine is underpowered for such common situation. He thinks about replacing of engine, but has not in hurry. About reliability, You must ensure adequate cooling for ALL cylinders, and prevent detonation. Now my thoughts about it: 1. Airframe has good ability to fly with "weak" engines (40 hp) but You must get EW to 180kg, with full VW 200-210kg. 2. CG must be 30-32% (even more!). How to obtain it - changings in fuselage, wings with angle forward etc. If You have some more questions, please, write! Arvils.
+Arvils Bušmanis yes it looks.in the video.that it doesnt come off the runway like other Mini Max's... beautifully built though, very nice... but maybe the issue is that for a Mini Max it' s overbuilt, ie too much weight...? eg that gyro in the panel....
You are absolutely right! ... and electr. power adaptor for gyro weights twice as gyro alone..., but at the time, when he built his plane, he had "clever" teachers, they say like Enzo Ferrari about aerodynamics - about weight should think these builders, who have no full VW, it is not Your problem!
I'm building the 1550 V-Max, which was designed for the full VW. Do you think I'll have similar problems? Would you try putting a different engine in it, and if so, which one?
