HiBREW H10A Review: 58mm PID Espresso for under $300?

In this video, we look at the HiBREW H10A, a machine designed and made in China, with 58mm portafilter, included manometer for pressure, and settable PID via display. It also includes a nice milk canister for milk frothing, and a decent 58mm tamper. It does not include a 3-way solenoid, or an easily adjustable OPV.
By the way, I did several more temperature measurement trials after the video. It seems to do a bit better with the temperature stability as the portafilter warms up. Nonetheless, it does tend to heat up a fair amount towards the end of the extraction. In the end, I think your mileage may vary with this, and other PID machines, but pre-heating the portafilter will help.

Thank you very much for this video Tom, so happy someone I actually trust made a review finally. This is an absolutely incredible machine for the price, even the insides look solid (I was expecting it to be messy but it's actually pretty neat). Just ordered one of these after watching your video (along with one by Lance Hedrick). Looks like a solid machine for my basic needs. As I told Lance, I'm coming from a Via Venezia which I had for 19 years (The thermofuse and the pump need to be replaced). Still, for $239, the H10A looks like a steal for what you're getting.

about the OPV adjustment(19:35 ) coffee_wave went over the process of removing and adjusting the OPV in his review at around 12:00-14:00 minutes. The video is in Russian but the auto-translated captions did a decent job. The process seems like a pain, but not super difficult. You may be able to do it in without taking it apart with a correctly shaped tool(maybe cut a strip from a metal ruler and bend it to shape). I'm not entirely sure from the video(around 12:20) but it seems like there is an additional cover at the bottom of the top part of the machine that can be removed to access it more easily.

Scaling on Gauge - 10bars between red and green and 5 bars between white and green. 14 bars are to full range It would be interessting if lowering pressure will affect temperature accuracy But be carefull if you open the OPV There is a small red sealing ring which has be set properly HiBREW has another interessting model H10B

Well, the H10A has an adjustable PID which is nice, so you can alter the temp to the bean you're using. But honestly I prefer boiler machines for my med to med-dark roasted beans. Don't know if the PID makes that much difference for me in that case. It is important for lighter roast beans though. As for the G5, I may review that sometime in the future. This machine head unit is metal or plastic + metal?
@TomsCoffeeCorner
@TomsCoffeeCorner 10 дней назад
That’s a good question. As far as I can tell, it’s metal with a clear film on it on the outside, and if I remember right, it might have some plastic internal bracing.

When I click, it’s $225. But I think it fluctuates in price. Watch out for a coupon, there are also coupons sometimes that you can apply directly on the Amazon products page.

I'm not sure it's the same hardware inside, for example, there's no mention of the adjustable temperature. Search for "Klarstein 1.8L portafilter". Thank you for this very interesting review, I'm new to your friendly but also techy Coffee Corner and was already interested by this H10A after watching coffee-wave's video, now I 'm convinced it 's the right first semi-automatic for me (bought a refurbished one at 90€ with 1 year warranty on a well known four-letters name online marketplace). Again, thank you for your great work at demystifying espresso making, reminding people that even with modest budget they can produce good result is a rare thing in this peculiar hobby.
