Hiccups - Symptoms and causes 

I invented the cure for hiccups in the late 60s while I was in grade school. It's a variation on the only 'cure' that sorta-worked: drinking off of the back side of a glass. My variation: stand up, get a whole mouthful of water, then bend over as far as you can and swallow. You may need to stand back up and do this up to 3 times, but it works and you don't pour water up your nose.

That “most hiccups are not serious” has a new fear unlocked for me.

we have a superstition in India.. Hiccups means somebody is remembering the person with hiccups. we say 'koi yaad kar raha hai. '

Also, during gastro-intestinal absorption/ digestion/ breakdown of natural & synthetic (obviously increases the PH of acidity levels) foods, after or during (memtioned in clip) ingestion. Cheers for the necessary reminder(s), doc! ;)

Imagining the sensation of pee shivers make hiccups go away almost immediately. Try it. I haven’t had hiccups for more than a few seconds since 2008.

What if I have it for days.. what should I I do

Drinking water, any possible way NEVER worked for me!! The thing that DID work is diaphragmatic breathing. I wish I knew this when I was a kid because I’d get them and they lasted for days and got me sent out of class over and over as a kid.

I have the hiccups several times a day for at least twenty to thirty minutes. I am a very slow eater of non-processed foods, and my meds haven't changed in years, so I'm perplexed.

Swallow small amounts of water 8 to 15 times continuously from a cup slowly. It will rewire your brain to stop hiccups.
