If you liked this part of Czech Republic, then the Kokorinsko part is also amazing and then round Ustek and Ceska Lipa. Some very unique castles, like Jestrebi or Sloup v Cechach. Or Helfenburk castle and the chappels at Kalvarie at Ostre. Or one of the most demanding castle ascents I did so far, the Ronov castle ruins. Be warned, do not attempt in bad weather and when it is wet! It is steep and you will be climbing up rocks potentially on all fours! But the views are amazing!
No problem! I guess you googled them? I exhausted my one day trips to the area from Prague, so next is my 4 nights stay in Ceska Lipa, when I plan to visit Panska Skala rock formation, Silver and Golden hills, similar, and castle Ralsko and more. I heard Ralsko is even worse hill than Ronov. Speaking of Ronov, another unique castles is Hridelik some 5.5km away from it! Torch needed, the entrance is nearly 20km low ceiling narrow passage through the rocks!
Hi! Really love the video. Can you guys supply your complete itinerary? Definitely looks like a trip I would love to make with my wife. My roots actually go through Bohemia too, so who knows maybe I would run into a distant cousin.😊
We highly recommend this hike! It was just as beautiful as it looked in the video. The itinerary was a bit of a challenge to stitch together since there's not one specific hikes but many options. There were two resources that we found really helpful for plotting our route. One was the existing self-guided tour from Natural Adventures: www.thenaturaladventure.com/tours/czech-republic/trails-of-bohemian-paradise/ Another was a set of Google map coordinates that turned out to be very helpful: bit.ly/3P0zO8G Hope that helps with your itinerary!
I loved this one. A multi-day hike like you did in the Bohemian Paradise is on my wishlist now, thanks to you. Stephanie: Aren’t you glad that you discovered that you are actually able to live 5 days out of a small backpack? (based on the principle that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger😉)
Still following you ladies for over two years now. It's a ritual with my girlfriend and I to watch on Sundays for a new video of yours. It is such a pleasure to follow your journey, and know that we will begin our own in 2025 when we retire. Your videos are informational and make us smile. The way you two compliment each other's personalities, strengths and weaknesses is a joy to see. Gillian did an amazing job picking that castle. One could sense she knew Stephanie would want, need?, appreciate that luxury at that point. Points for being a romantic and intuitive partner to Stephanie! May you both stay safe, healthy and blessed!
What a wonderful comment to receive - thank you so much! 😊 Gillian certainly outdid herself with that surprise castle stay. I might have to leave her on hotel booking duty for the foreseeable future. 😂
Of course! 😊 Our accommodations were usually $70-85 USD a night including breakfast (which usually provided a lot of snacks for the rest of the day. Meals including a beer were typically $15 USD, with very sizeable portions. The train from Prague was $20 USD per direction.
Truly a once in a life time experience from hiking castle to castle! It sort of reminds me of the Kumano Kodo Trail in Japan (except that one is shrine to shrine). In your opinion, was this hike easier than the Kumano Kodo Trail? One of my favorite parts about your videos is how Stephanie describes food and of course the tour of each bedrooms and Airbnbs you stay at. Huxley and Jasper look so regal @6:26 haha!
We did the Kumano Kodo many years ago. Likely the amount of forest cover and the peaceful feeling are common to both hikes while the cultural flavour is, of course, much different. Jasper and Huxley know a comfy couch when they see one! 😂
Český Ráj is the smaller place with those rocks. There are others. Adršpašské skály are bigger, higher and more “wilde “. Or - Czech Switzerland ! With rock bridge. Advice from San Diego.
Adršpašské skály are to much visited (however from 1-2 of many entries only). There are however many quiet places, like Broumovské stěny, 10 km in direction east from that previous.
@@OurFreedomYearsbeautiful video girls, thank you greeting from Czech Republic. you must visit also in Czech republic for example : Mariánské Lázně, Karlovy Vary, Loket, Český Krumlov, Kutná Hora, Telč, Olomouc, Brno, Liberec, Litoměřice, Šumava, České Budějovice, Litomyšl, Kroměříž, Lednicko-valtický areál etc. Greeting me and my boyfriend 🇨🇿 👬
Oh my goodness, that is a dream hike!! Thank you for sharing it - added to my list!! ❤ And, boy, nothing makes you appreciate a clean t-shirt, right? 😂
What awesome views and trails!!! Thanks for sharing, we’ve never heard about the Bohemian Paradise. Was it easy to find restaurants during the days? Or in that case you would pack some lunch or something?
We came across a restaurant each day for lunch but it was all planned in advance, of course. We also carried quite a bit of snacks with us (usually leftover from breakfast!) in case we reached the rest stop later in the afternoon.
btw we didnt really know about those rocks out there until way too long - about meals - we are country of meat and sauces, we love our sauces and goulash, if i remember well - the rocks were created by erosion, you are where was once very long time a sea
Loved this video, this looks like our (mine and my husband's) kind of place! Also, the way you've shown it, it looks amenable to creating a shorter route than 5 days for those of us who aren't quite up to that ha ha. Great job!
Glad you enjoyed it! The trails could easily be tailored to shorter distances and a smaller number of days. We saw many people out for day hikes while we were on the trail. 😊
What a fantastic video! You both have outdone yourselves once again. 😉 It felt like we were right there with you. So happy you all had such a magical hike. This looks like one of those super special life adventures you’ll cherish for always. 🥰
And we were glad to have you along! 😊 This was certainly the most pleasant hike that we've had in some time -- especially that castle stay. I would be happy to go back there.
@@OurFreedomYears rumor is when hussites leader Zizka failed to seize this castle with his army in 15th century, he said: "This castle is hard as a bone and therefore it belongs to dogs" and leaves. From that time is castle called Kost (Bone)
Thanks for the video! We live in Prague and are hiking in the nearby places every month. You made us appreciate the trips even more - being less sensitive to the beauty around due to the overexposure is the real thing.
I enjoy all of you videos for years now. However, being from EU (Croatia to be specific), my daily walk consists of at least 10-15 km of walk every day, so the message of this video is sort of blury to me. Big fan, however! ❤
I certainly 😢 missed those notifications. This is certainly a beautiful country to visit. Yes hicking with just a backpack is quite a challenge. My wife is fond of comfort and and nothing with scarcity. I enjoy watching you 2. Wish there were more, but I know edditing, filming and so is quite a challenge.
Glad you got caught up with our latest adventures! Yes, making videos does take up a lot of time but one every two weeks is manageable. And we have fun doing it! 😊
The title of this video is perfect. I know about 500 caves in one forest in Bohemian paradise and even local people know about 10 or 20. When a tourist comes, he sees only one drawn on the map. This forest is my home ❤
that room where stephanie stayed was so 'Dali' Trinketism!!' (my term i've always used, i don't even think it exits.) a literal barrage of pomp-pompier ornamentalism :) . . .
Here is a resource that we found really helpful for plotting our own route and where we stayed -- it's the self-guided tour from Natural Adventure: www.thenaturaladventure.com/tours/czech-republic/trails-of-bohemian-paradise/ Hope that helps with planning your hike!
Thanks so much for sharing this treat! I love thru-hiking, but I have not done any of these longer trips since becoming a nomad since I always have two suitcases with me. Do you have any tips on where to store your luggage while doing a thru-hike? I'd love to know if you have found trusted storage lockers or services to hold your extra stuff.
So glad you enjoyed it! This is a hike that we would heartily recommend. We've found that hotels are quite receptive to storing our luggage, which is what we did this time round -- although we would certainly ask well in advance of the hike. There are also luggage transfer services available, although they can be quite expensive.
I am glad you like it here. Here is definitely much more to see and trails are marked everywhere. Also too much sightseeing, old cities and 4 national parks. Enjoy!
Hi! You made such a great video❤ I'm a local and I can tell you that you did everything like the locals, we live in outdoor clothes and taking long hikes with backpacks. In the summer there are tourist buses that can help shorten a long walk.
Is there anyway you could share your route and where you stayed? The video said 6 days so how many miles per day? I want to do thins but cant find the path and where to stay each night

Such a fun idea but probably too much work in practice. We always try to find a balance between making videos and enjoying a destination for ourselves.
Wow! What an incredible adventure. My wife and I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Adding this trip to our bucket list. Keep putting out the great content!
It is also great place for cycling. Pack up swimsuits, there are outdoor swimming pools and ponds with beaches, if you look for them. You can also rent a room in a pension, going to different direction every day (if you dont have bikes, they often rent them). My uncle owns such pension there. It has a bus connection to Prague, but having a car makes it way easier.
