With some places banning Airbnbs and recently Barcelona, this might be a trend. What are your thoughts on this on overall travel cost and options. I love your channel btw on slow travel. New subscriber here from Toronto. I used to work in Singapore too :) 👋
Hey guys, Just love your videos ❤. I have a few questions if you don’t mind. Could you share this Airbnb list? Also being a fur ever mom, I’m always curious on how far you had to walk from it to pet relief area when people rent in a city. We had to walk 6 blocks to the nearest grass area and minimum 3 times a day and plan that out right
Great video! However, it's worth mentioning that Peles Castle is not in Transylvania. Sinaia is located in Prahova county, in Wallachia. Northern Wallachia but still Wallachia. Bran Castle, on the other hand, in southern Transylvania, had exactly this strategic position near the border of the two regions.
I somehow missed this video when it came out. Congratulations on your new home! You guys are really good at following your dreams! 🎉🎉🎉 See you on the gram.
We are heading to Florence tomorrow for one month and slow traveling for 7 months before heading home for the winter holidays. Thank you for your inspiration and videos. We retired early one month ago to slow travel and you have been a huge part of our journey to FIRE and the slow travel lifestyle. Sending love and admiration from Rome where we have spent two wonderful weeks.
Congratulations on starting the next chapter! This is sure to be a very exciting and enriching part of your lives. So glad to hear that we provided a little inspiration along the way. Have an amazing time in Florence and during the rest of your slow travels. 😊
just found you two as we search for where to explore/stay in Lisbon! great video, just subscribed!! any chance you are open to sending a link to the airbnb where you stayed in Alfama?
So glad you enjoyed it! Here's the link to the Airbnb: www.airbnb.com/rooms/22419451 We also have a blog post for Lisbon with more info: ourfreedomyears.com/5-tips-for-experiencing-beautiful-lisbon-without-the-crowds/
In Portugal do not loose your time ordering a "late" for coffee. Please, order a "Galao directo" and you will have the best experience of coffee. If by any chance you would prefer a small one, then ask for a "meia de leite". Ask for it "directo" and they will pour the coffee from the machine directely on top of hot milk.
I heard that Westerners eat hamburgers, fries, fried chicken, Coke, sandwiches, coffee, pasta, pizza, hotdog , steak cereal, bread, and milk for three meals a day. Is this true? Or do Americans and Europeans eat differently?
I stayed in the Alfama last August for my first ever trip to Lisbon. I’m from the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and have Portuguese parents (from the Azores). That first trip for me was more than just a cool place to be, but a discovery and a huge expansion of appreciation for the culture that my parents came from. I made a point of staying in the Alfama, not only to experience its narrow streets, but to listen to fado, the music my parents would listen to on the radio at the end of a long work week. Hearing the “fadistas” in the distance while I layed my head down after a long day on foot took me back to the sounds of my childhood. I learned so much, and I’ve developed a full blown love affair with the culture of my parents and ancestors. The history, the architecture, the language, the music, the food, and most importantly, the people. I will be back, not just to see Lisbon, but to see more of Portugal itself. The biggest emotional impact for me, was the Sé - Lisbon’s Cathedral. Once I toured it, and found out how old it was, I found myself wanting everyday to walk by it, touch its walls, and whenever possible, eat a meal within its shadow. Thanks for bringing back great memories of that trip, and I intend to make many more.
Thanks so much for sharing...it's wonderful to get the perspective of someone with roots in Portugal. Lisbon a really beautiful city -- I'm not surprised that so many people fall in love with their first visit. I hope you get to have many more wonderful trips there.
So in 2 years prices have increased incredibly. Agora museum visit now (apr 2024) costs around 8$ Per person for foreigners . Ephesus costs now (apr 2024) 32$ per person for foreigners. just letting your viewers know that its like that. try first agora if you like it then try Ephesus. because agora is a mini version of same greek architecture. you dont have to spend alot of you didnt like that architecture and go to ephesus.
@@OurFreedomYears agreed that its been inflation lately everywhere. but turkiye is taking it all out from foreigners pockets. Ephesus for residents/citizens is 40 TL = 1.2$ but for foreigners its 40Euro starting. just saying how it is now. 🙂
You might consider some European destinations that aren't on the mainland, like Madeira, Canaries, Malta. Much of Europe can be pretty chilly and rainy in the winter.
We've fortunately never had to make a claim for ourselves. However, we did need to make a claim for a family member who was visiting us in Mexico and our dealings with Blue Cross worked out quite well.
Way off this video but here goes. I caught a referral to new zealand travel in a van when you were talking about small kitchens. Can't find this in videos you folks put out. Any info you can share about this trip ( new zealand) greatly appreciated . Barbara Hill
Great question! We did a trip to New Zealand for a couple weeks back when we lived in Singapore. This was long before we were making videos. We rented a van and explored a few parts of the south island while trying not to be too ambitious in our itinerary so that we didn't need to spend full days driving. It was a really lovely trip and one that we would highly recommend.
Hello from Portland, Oregon I have enjoyed your travel vlogs very much ❤ I am curious about your cute little dogs 🐕 I am considering adopting a mini poodle as well and travel with my pet friend, I would be interested in a video on how you dealt with care and grooming etc... Thank you for sharing your travel experience ❤
Here's a video to get you started...it's all about traveling with dogs bit.ly/42XVAxH Gillian does all the grooming of our poodles...she bought clippers and taught herself using youtube videos.
