Very nice and informative review. I haven’t owned any of these headphones but I have some idea of these headphones from listening to sound demo here on RU-vid. I feel you have non bias toward the brand and theirs price which is a hard thing to do for many people , me included 😂. Kudos to u ! As a base line, for Senn HD6xx.. which very popular n there r many sounds demo available on RU-vid, i find the sounds are too excited for me. I guess it’s good for certain kind of music, just not what I looking for. I think you put it well regarding to this headphone as a point to describe the Deva pro sounds. I think I gonna get the deva pro as my first open back headphone. Thank u for your review !

I believe the fostex tr60 4 pin XLR cable will work I agree with you you shouldn't bring it outside where it's windy because you could pop the driver unless it had a protective coating on the diaphragm like if it was coated with some type of polymer or something

excellent review, I've had the Deva Pro for around 6 months, the blue mini in terms of detail etc beat my btr5, ifi hipdac but started to be outclassed by my xdupp 05 balanced with the preamps upgraded, desk top sure it did scale quite well. Only issue is I don't have another r2f to compare it with. I made my own balanced cable for it and also an adapter to drive other balanced capable headphones. For the price I think the blue mini blows the competition at the price out of the water Inc ifi,s latest orrferings for pure definition and sonics overall. At around the same price I still prefer my 2020 Sundaras in the hifiman lineup but that may just be a thing as they were my first open back planars and have a special place in my heart 😁

Smart man right here! The Bluemini R2R (aka 3rd Gen) is IMO straight up the BEST old school R2R ("Resistor-to-Resistor") ladder DAC you can get for

Good job. I've been considering these. Unfortunately the headband pad is probably a deal breaker for me as that contact point causes pain for me much faster than most. I switched to IEMs years ago, but I know it's harder to get that holographic effect with them, along with other qualities, probably just due to physics in the end. Do you know of any headphones that don't have any headband issues (I imagine the suspension configurations are better, but I don't know) and that are a class above the Devas? Maybe in the $500-$1000 range - though cheaper than that would be great of course. Planar IEMs are interesting too, but don't seem to have caught on, so I'm a little suspicious of that. But maybe it's because they leak sound... Closed back headphones would be ideal so I could, say, listen on a plane, but I know something has to be sacrificed in a closed back. I've considered the meze, but don't know how it stacks up against others in the $300 range. Thanks for the review and any advice. I'm also commenting to help "the algorithm." @Tom P Thanks for the reply. The Sundaras are on my list. That is the second reference to the Timeless I've heard in two days, so I may have to look into those. I was going to say I mostly listen to speakers, but realized when I add in listening to podcasts, no, sadly, it's mostly bluetooth on cheap earphones - which is what originally got me interested in the Devas with the R2R dac. I'm at a desk, but also have to move around a lot, so it's hard to stay wired to stuff. Anyway, thanks again for the recs. - Cheers

Got the HE6se V2 ($550 on Adorama) with the same headband. Hated it. 2 Dekoni Nuggets solved the problem
