High blood sugars before exercise - how I deal with it - after my speed workout ride

So I am 3 days out from my home Ironman distance attempt, I will be swimming on my bungees in the pool, cycling in zwift, and running on the treadmill in zwift.
Today I had a short and sharp speed session on the bike, however I had high blood sugars before I started so I take a look at my sugars for the day and talk through the decisions I made to correct my blood sugar when it had not done what I expected.
Having high blood sugars before I train is a pretty common problem for me, Whilst I have been training for Ironman events I have been exercising 6 days per week which means that I am often faced with either high blood sugars or low blood suagars before I start. Here is how I dealt with high blood sugars on this day.

Really good to see the glucose graph with your notes about where you took the insulin and why, combining with the sports you did. Another important layer is the food you ate, how much control do you have over you blood glucose by controlling your food and reduce the insulin? but maybe reducing insulin is not a target for you? sorry for this questions, as I am not taking insulin so I do not know but I am curious.

I have played around with a LCHF diet for a few months and basically got down to using 60% of my "normal" insulin volumes. But then I started to notice that I would ride high blood sugars at night because the Basel levels were so low. But if I increase the Basel I have to eat carbs. I personally don't feel the need to keep going low carb, especially when doing long distance events and training, carbs aren't the devil they are painted to be at the minute. I find the best way to control my blood sugar is a moderate approach to everything, don't go extreme with any diet.

@@endurodiabetic9414 thanks for that detail. I hope to be able to learn more about how my body react in terms of glucose / sports / energy / carvings / bloating as you did mention when you wanted to run fast but you could not because you did eat to much carbs on a small period while running. Could you please elaborate a bit more about being fat burning? You did mention about it a bit on the video. Even if you do not do low carb, do you want to be in fat burn mode for your sports you do? I think you mention in a video that zone 2 sports are good for diabetics, to avoid rising the glucose as other hard zones.
