Parking at Bowless Visitor Centre, 5 miles North of the quaint Market Town of Middleton in Teesdale, I took the short woodland walk to the stunning Summerhill Force and Gibson's Cave. After crossing the road and the field, I walked over the 1741 suspension bridge to the stunning Low Force, before walking 2 miles further up the River Tees to the jaw dropping High Force, with a spectacular 21 meter drop, with origins dating back over 300 million years. Situated in Upper Teesdale in the North Pennines, this is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and one of the bests walks on Co Durham.

Good afternoon Alan, what a beautiful water fall and amazing story. Loved the viking connection too 👍♥️🏕 massive bonus that you had it to yourself too. The bridge is brillaint, and the rover looked very healthy too. We have visited Low and High force, great to see them again and on such lovley day. Wouldn't fancy jumping in mind, much rather admire from afar ♥️👍 Such a stunning and beautiful place to.lose your self in greenspaces and running water, perfection indeed. Would love to see if frozen mind, such force and power easy to see why they got their names. Have a great weekend Alan, catch you soon, Ceri and Kat ♥️🏕👍🌊

Thanks for watching Linda and Mrs Metalman hates going over that bridge, maybe I should not wobble it when she is half way over lol! It's only about 30 miles from home, so a nice local walk and one I have been doing since I was a kid, cheers Alan

It's funny Craig, we go to Low/High Force a lot but it is 30 years since I went to the cave and waterfall there, yet it is only 5 minutes from the car park - weird. Always a good day up there no mater what the weather, thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Mind blowing that you got the first falls all to yourself. Your bridge story brought to mind that scene in Jaws when they're all getting drunk on the boat, and Quinn tells the story of the USS Indianapolis sinking in WWII. "1100 men went into the water, 316 men came out". Can easily see why so many people go across the road to see the other falls, but it's a shame more don't go to the first set. Left us hanging a bit there on the beer barrel story Alan. What happened to the fellow that went over? Did he make it? Positively glorious walk today!
@AlanMETALMAN
@AlanMETALMAN 3 года назад
Haha the funny thing is, I remember the story but was not sure when it was or what happened to him but unfortunately a few people have lost their footing at the top and gone over but not got out. A well known cliff jumper dived in 3 years ago for a video and said on the news later, he was lucky to be alive, as the current held him under for ages, before he was able to get back to the top. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Brilliant vid and such a nice place but I've never fully explored it properly. Might have to head down and check it out as that gibsons cave looks stunning 😍. Can you climb behind the waterfall? Thanks for sharing hope all is well. Atb Steve

Gibson's gave is a 5 minute walk from Bowless Car Park, on the same side of the road and you could get behind the waterfall to c-the care before they build the viewing area, I was filming on. You could still get there I have no doubt and starting wish I have given it a go now lol. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Thoroughly enjoyed watching this Alan. I've been to high force and didn't even know all that beauty was there. So will have to go back and have a proper hike around that area. Its truly stunning. 8:28 what is the hill in the background. ??. Loved the bit of local history and info you gave. Amazing. Thank you for sharing

You know something Emma I am not sure but you got me wanting to find out now. If you keep on walking you end up at Cauldron Snout and Cow Green Reservoir, where I went last summer on the first day of my holidays. Didn't know you had been there yourself mind and it is such a great place to explore, only 30 miles away from us. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment, appreciate it, cheers Alan

I wish I had brought my swimming shorts at the cave, where the first waterfall was, a hot day and could not believe I was the only one there, perfect for a dip lol. One thing for sure you do not want to to over the Falls at High Force, many have alter slipping at the top and not been recovered for days, there is a real strong undercurrent there. Thank you kindly for stopping by, cheers Alan

2:26 my lads have jumped that bridge so no surprises in this video. Actually that's not true............. never heard of Summerhill Force and Gibson's cave so will have to add them to the list. As for High Force, you'll not see that on our channel. All my lads have jumped/flipped higher so there's no height challenge for them, but that's not the reason we won't be found there. High Force is bloody dangerous, and that's all the reason we need to avoid it.
@AlanMETALMAN
@AlanMETALMAN 2 года назад
Aye, I read about the lad who jumped there in 2018 and he said he would not do it again, as he was lucky he was able to come up, as the undercurrent was so strong and kept trying to pull him down - dam scary. Thanks for watching Lee, cheers Alan

Yep, happening all the time, diving me mad to be honest, so many people telling me the same story, they can see on their notifications I have made a comment but when they check on their video, it has vanished. Yes, very true and I always think Co Durham is overlooked, especially with The Lakes to the West, Northumberland to the North and the Yorkshire Dales to the South, all of whom are great but we have got so many good places to visit here too. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
