Amazing film Andy (and your lovely dog). I used to visit Cow Green and Cauldron snout with my family back in the 90s, had some amazing times wondering about soaking up the scenery. Brought back some good memories.

I went to Cauldron Snout on a horrendously wet and wild day about 6 years ago and got some great footage, which I lost when my camera shut down due to the awful conditions. Good to see you had better luck then me and what a cracking day and walk it was, with some great still shots. Great drone shots and background local information, cheers Alan

A great video Andy of a spectacular part of the country. I especially liked the drone tracking shots. As the dam serves no major purpose anymore, couldn't it not be removed? Not only could the land above restore itself over time, the River Tees could once again return to its former glory. It's an affront for this mighty rivers flow to be controlled by a valve at the bottom of a dam.

Thanks Chris. I would imagine that the reservoir does act as a regular supply of water to the good folk of Darlington which was not it's intended purpose.

why the hell would ya want to take a dog on a leash with you on that long walk it doesnt make sense to me. i wouldnt want to hike all those miles having to keep a dog under control as well.

Thank you for the comment. Firstly, as you will see, this walk involves some road walking and well as passing through areas where there is livestock and ground nesting birds. As you will have seen in the film, it was filmed in May when young chicks will have been still on the ground. I feel that as a responsible dog owner it is my duty to set a good example in controlling my dog in such places and adhering to both the countryside code and local restrictions within the AONB. Secondly, as you may realise, I produce these films solo and by having my dog on the end of a (extendible) lead I know where he is when I am concentrating on setting up and filming the shots. It also means that my dog is "in shot" and that saves me having to answer comments as to why my dog was not under "close control". Thirdly, and quite importantly, as I have shown in another film, my dog is now 13 years old and now totally deaf, that means he cannot hear me when I call him. So I feel that by having him on an extendable lead he is fairly free to wander close to me without the worry of him failing to come back when called. Be assured that my dog has had plenty of long walks, many much longer than this where he has been "off-lead", especially when he was walking all of the 214 Wainwright Fells.

@@colinwatkins2950 I take my dog because he is my dog...he likes going for walks, I like having him with me. What do you want me to do? Leave him at home or in the car?
