You're such a gem! I have really enjoyed every single one of your videos. I really enjoy it when you bring in some historical context (as the field has changed) and the physiology! Thank you so much! I'd love to watch a video on ECMO!

What a lovely comment Jane- thank you so much! I think it's the way our NICU brains work- the history is always so interesting, right?! We have been asked for a video on ECMO before- which we are planning at some point. (We currently don't run ECMO in our unit, although we've had plenty of experience with it in the past- but still will be more of an introductory type video). THANK YOU again!!

(I love talking about this topic- so our issue has been trying to condense the information into relevant youtube type chunks!) Thanks again for your lovely words.

Dr. Tala!! Yes, this video and all your videos are so very important to me. I’ve had the worst experiences in nursing where I was treated like an ignorant, unwanted burden. I was never welcomed by NICU nurses nor did they ever truly have time to teach. These video will give me the confidence to try again. Bless you!!🥰
@TalaTalksNICU
@TalaTalksNICU 2 года назад
Oh Noel! that's awful! I think a lot of medicine is this dog-eat-dog world where people are like, "I was treated like that so this is what I should do." And then the cycle continues. I'm so sorry you had that experience. Just realize that being a good healthcare provider is a lot about caring and being willing to learn. So don't give up! If this is what you feel you should be doing- then by all means, try again! Good luck!!

I feel the same in my current NICU, I'm doing a contract at a hospital and so far I've been treated better, I'm more comfortable asking questions cause I'm not made to feel stupid and they are willing to teach me. I'm taking a part time position there when my contract is over. I hope you find a place where can grow and thrive, that's what I'm looking for..good luck to you

Thank you, your videos are phenomenal. I have learned from every video I have watched thus far and look forward to seeing more. I have not come across any on nutrition just yet. I would love to learn more about the general process of inborn errors of metabolism such as galactosemia or PKU.

Wow! Thank you so much Dee! We're so happy you feel like you're learning from them. We are getting around to an inborn errors video (it will be very basic- and focus on the initial steps and general presentation rather than the actual enzymatic pathways- which let's face it- we all learn and then promptly forget). We are starting a fluids and nutrition series next- starting with a short video on useful fluid estimates tomorrow. Thank you again for being here!!!

Love these videos! I haven’t seen a video on CLD (BPD) on your channel. Do you think you could do one on that topic? We see a fair amount of growing prems with CLD in my unit.
@TalaTalksNICU
@TalaTalksNICU 2 года назад
Hi! Yes! BPD is definitely on our short-list (it's kind of a dry topic, so I don't enjoy talking about it as much!). Unfortunately, the whole world is seeing more BPD because we're all so much better at keeping those tiny micro preemies alive. We hope to have the lecture out in the next two months, though. Thanks again for being here :)

Yes Nurse Bridgett! That is a topic we hadn't considered yet- but would fall quite nicely within the high frequency ventilation series we're covering now. Thanks for an excellent suggestion. This is really basic and simple , but can you make a video about isolates ? As in when do babies start day and night cycles . Room air. Weaning . Every unit says so many different things . Example - one unit doesn’t introduce night and day until week 35 . Yet other unit , let babies go home at 35 and 4 pounds haha 😂
