I take caffeine and theanine supplements frequently for studying but there was a loose green tea my mom got me from a co-op that induced the craziest 'galaxy brain'. I took to calling it 'the green dank' as it was a really deep green color and it would turn tea the color of kale. Made me want to get into growing tea... but I was living in an apt at the time.
Mixed up some yarrow flower, nettle leaf, and hibiscus. Currently feeing more relaxed than weed makes me feel without the inebriated effects. I’m not one for the woo woo’ness of tea. But it’s an odd medative state I feel
The way you describe the effects of tea drunkenness sound quite a lot like some of the effects of taking and/or micro dosing psychedelics such as psilocybin. Very interesting, this is something that would be interesting to research more.
I would say the better advice is to not chase this state. It’s a side-effect of mindfulness within tea drinking that is enhanced by the properties of the tea. When we are absorbed in the now of our tea, when we fully engage with the sensory experience of tea, the state of calm creativity may come upon us. Chasing it is the craving mind and that will lead to sorrow.
Cool to finally put a face to the hand written notes you add to your orders. I have made a few purchases of your wonderful teas and tea wares. I have recommended your shop to many friends interested in getting into gongfu cha. I noticed you didn't add Shou or ripe puerh in your list of teas for chazui. I have had a 1996 ripe tuo from Yunnan that when brewed strong has given me some of my most intense tea drunk states. Shou or Ripe puerhs seem to get me tea drunk more than sheng or raw. Do you find that opposite for yourself?
Hey mate! It's cool to finally get to chat:) Of course, reaction to a tea is a very individual thing. Technically speaking, shou pu-erh is a fully oxidized tea which means that it has a very low level of L-theanine - one of the components responsible for the "tea-drunk" state, turning caffeine high into something more chilled. Also, there are no catechins in fully-oxidized teas - that's another component that, in conjunction with others, works on making you tea high. Having said that, there are plenty of other elements in shou pu-erh that can alter your state, including caffeine and thearubigins. So, yes, it is possible to get tea drunk on shou pu-erh, but technically speaking, for most people, it is more easily achieved on less oxidized teas - white, green, yellow, Sheng pu-erhs. Remember Bai Hao Yin Zhen white tea that you got from us last year? - that particular tea get me tea drunk almost every time I drink it:) To each his own, I guess:))
well, not exactly, no:) In russian prisons, they drink very low-quality tea made of broken leaves, what we call "tea dust". This kind of tea releases a lot of caffeine very quickly. And when russian prisoners make "chafir" they are simply getting overly caffeinated, which is worlds apart from what we call "Tea Drunk" (Cha Zui)
This happened to me the other day, unwittingly, drinking high quality black assam tea from India, in the morning, on an empty stomach. It doesn't hurt my stomach. It was my day off, it was quiet and early in the morning, my mind was clear, and after 5 infusions, I went on a bike ride to buy home made tortillas from a small bakery. It was a beautiful day. I became elated, and upon arriving, I was so happy, secure, content, and it was a joy to talk with the lady briefly who sold them to me. I knew I was altered from the tea, just didn't know about ' tea drunk, ' so it was quite a pleasant surprise and experience. I was also cranky later in the afternoon!
What about the matcha powder? I once went hard on it and was on my fifth cup and the spoon fulls were a heap each time, I must say I was fairly high like that of a mild psychedelic experience.
Yep, high-grade matcha if full of L-theanine and caffeine. It can easily do the trick:) Back in the days, samurais had matcha-drinking competitions, getting high on it.
Yes thanks for telling me that I can relate metaphysically with why they did this. I also use it when Im training and the focus is razor sharp and not erratic like coffee can induce 🙏🏻🔥 peace and love brother. Watching your clip is relaxing.
I think that this is a really subjective matter. For me its actually shou pu erh which gives me a drunk or perhaps more exact stony feeling . Never got the same thing with sheng or aged and unaged white tea. On the other side i have a green tea from Vietnam which at times gives me a push coming close to amphetamine. I am experienced with different psychoactives and can claim without any doubt that tea is one if brewed in the right manner.
"I think that this is a really subjective matter... I am experienced with different psychoactives and can claim without any doubt that tea is one if brewed in the right manner." Agree 100%
@@krazus2036 Its a rather cheap tea labeled as a cao bo mao feng. Also it doesnt give me a super strong buzz (stronger than espresso) rather then a drunk feeling.
Thank you ☺ I love so many teas, so it's really hard to name just one ))) But if I have to, it's probably a white tea, Shou Mei (pathofcha.com/products/shou-mei-white-tea-mini-cake)
not just a drug, but anything in this life: an up is always followed by a down and vice versa. That's the physical/biological nature of things. Buddhists call it Sansara.
@@PathofCha It's pretty regular for me. But it seems to be very context dependent. But yes if the mind is racing, it suddenly goes still. And I might pay alot of attention to little sounds around me. There is also a feeling of being rooted in whatever position I am in. if im feeling down it gives me a mood lift. Im im already feeling ok and is in a neutral setting. I don't feel it as strongly. When im doing something fun and engaging in something social and stimulating while sitting still I might feel stronger effects. When I take my ADD medication it often causes it to kick in quite strongly and gives me a palpable euphoria with a tingling sensation in the stomach while at the same time being very rooted in place and relaxed. And I also tend to sweat. This seems to be a chemical effect because it happens with cold tea too. I have tried the polynesian traditional herb Kava in my life. And id say that's where I see the most similarities. But Tea has a much better taste.
L Theanine combined with ashwaghanda is the way to.go for me! I was om onopin for years. I allowed people to abuse me over and over again. Family included. I walked off all the anti depressants and calming agents. I'm a mu h happier person now that I have established healthy boundaries. Proper nutrition is the key along with exercise and lots of stretching. L Theanine helps me sleep.a full night uninterrupted, but I don't take it every day. All this info I'm passing on to the viewers took me a lifetime of trial.and error to learn.
What are your thoughts on Kratom? I am currently a week off (I found it has horrible withdrawals). I can't imagine this kind of tea is worse than that. I noticed that we don't put enough herb in our water a few years ago as I used Valerian root to get off of Kratom and had to wait until 4 bags later to feel it.
Kratom is an addictive substance. Not much different from other opioids. We are against promoting substances that cause addiction and serious health and mental issues.
Yes it's addicting. But relatively mild compared to hard opioids and seems to be good for people weaning of opioids. It's not like a regular opioid and also has stimulating properties. It's actually related to coffee. Valeriana has been used in my household since I was a kid. As a sleep aid. And seems to be perfectly safe. I would also recommend Lemon Balm. Very healthy and good for anxiety. Kratom seems like the lesser of two evils and some people have legitimately seen success in treating opioid addiction with it. I think It's better if it stays legal for this reason. When you make it illegal. People try to find substitutes on the street. And if it keeps you from fentanyl. Its a good thing. It's extremely rare for people to have fatal effects from Kratom. Ive heard that Muslims in indonesia use it as a social drug quite like alcohol. In that context and in moderation. It's probably not that bad.
You mentioned you need to be in a state of calmness before-hand, but I just faced some very stressful event, I have some pu-erh sitting on the shelf, and I'm desparate to relax, so we're gonna give it a try anyway haha. Thank you!^^
They actually tried to outlaw coffee in Sweden back in the day and people started having coffee parties in the woods. We drink the next most Coffee in the world next to Finland. Its theories that it might have helped to wean the populace of alcohol. Farmers/labourers used to have a drink of alcohol before going to work to cheer them up. They replaced it with coffee and that partially solved the problem.
yes, sure, many people report getting tea drunk on shou pu-erh. For me, personally, it's usually white teas that get me there. But it's all very individual.
@@PathofCha thanks for answering! Which tea do you drink when you want to wake up and be alert in the morning, say before an exam or something important?
Hi Lara. The small statue is a tea pet. Here is our blog post on the subject: pathofcha.com/blogs/all-about-tea/what-exactly-is-a-tea-pet-and-how-do-we-take-care-of-them They don't really do anything and yet they are a popular part of Gong Fu Cha. Though, some tea pets may serve as an indicator of the water temperature.
Not sure I understand the question correctly, but "Wild Orchid" raw pu-erh should be brewed and drunk like you would brew any other pu-erh tea. If you are brewing it gong fu style, we recommend 1g/20ml, boiling water, short steepings. You can keep brewing until you had enough or there is no taste left:)
@@hellspawnggc6245 oh, for the first tea raw pu-erh may be a tough one:) Be prepared that it's going to be a little bitter. But pay attention to the sweetness that comes with this initial bitterness, right behind it. Try to dissect all the fruity and floral notes. Practical advice: don't overbrew. If you are doing it gong fu style - do short steepings. Watch other videos on our channel. @@PathofCha taste is fine I'm more into what the feeling may be like hopefully not something I haven't done before lol hopefully I don't mess up lol I'm trying to get tea drunk lol or tea high .,,
@@hellspawnggc6245 if you watched the video carefully, you know that the state of being tea high cannot be chased. It doesn't work this way. The more you chase it the more illusive it gets. Getting tea high is a side effect of practicing tea mindfully.
