no one is talking about Berger .Im holding berger paint since may 2021 and my avg price is around the current CMP. so should i divert this money to some other stock or still hold it . loosing the same conviction about in relaxo as same things are happening in footwear industry

It has invested 6000 crs in last 10 years from internal accruals . It has spent 2000 crs in last two years in backward integration to lock its inputs . Right now bashing Asian paints is in vogue . By the time Grasim touches sales of 10000 crs , Asian paints will have profits of same amount .

AP already has a market which will eat off. But the new paints are going to eat up each other's market share right from the start and will come only to the price margin tradeoff across products with brands like Grasim, JSW or Astral. So first they will have to battle among themselves before toppling out Asian Paints.

Most of the cement dealers generally deal with cements putty and steel bars.. not many will have infra in their shop to store paints. Wondering if their incentives would be so much that they will disrupt their existing business to also sell paints..

The only advantage Asian paints is having is their distribution network. Being into interior business we see clients doesn’t care about Asian paints name now. They want specific color, if it is available in Asian they will choose Asian, if it’s available in Nippon they will choose one color from Nippon. This is for B2C, but when it comes to B2B, like selling to big builders and all they a good hold but that is just for time till Birla enters with its massive fire power. This is as per my business observations.

Hi Shashank nice observation! I am always amazed at the way you think. But one doubt is regarding the comparison you did is the examples you took. You compared Asian paints with Grasim. But why didn't you consider any other paint companies like Berger?

Only 17% ?? berger is stands on 20 % In the paint industry it is very difficult to achieve 5% market share .. and you are saying 20% is only 😂😂?? One of my friends have Berger dealership and he is saying sales are increasing in month on month basis ... I dont know how the market seeing this birla will grab asian paints market share .. its true that they will eat some market share from unorganised player and from some small companies , I can tell you forget about next 3-5 years birla can not beat berger paints in the next 10 yrs

Per capita consumption of paint in India is going to increase, new players are entering because there is such a large market. New players will come and get a good chuck of business and existing players will grow as well.
