i’m a football player and coach’s try and try to teach players how to tackle but a lot of players have anger that they want to release so they don’t really listen
They teach them the proper tackling techniques and there are plenty of penalties for it but sometimes it's either that they dont care abt da rules bc of anger or they need to make a quick tackle and they accidently lower their head
@@cinco7984 Exactly. That is how I broke my back in three spots playing college lacrosse. Fractured T1, T2, T3 and still have not recovered fully after 3 years. You cant coach/referee these types of hits and stop them from happening. When you are on the field, things just happen and unfortunately, they can result in serious consequences. I signed up for this. I knew the risks. I made a bad play. I payed the consequences. Simple as that.
“Anything you can do to reduce risk of injury with tackling will reduce the overall injury rate” This dude was just trying to meet that 2000 word count
@@samuelmorales2344 yes because if you don't want to play football then don't play it if you want to play football in but not get hurt listen to the rules as simple as that this ain't rocket science
Yea lol but flag football ain’t all that bad it’s still fun as long as the competitive desire is there for all he players. (And no I’m not saying that it would be ok for real football to turn into this)
If you watch the video they say that proper tackling form is important to teach early on and zero tolerance for *illegal* hits. I'd say ejection from the gake after an illegal hit and a one game suspension. Let them know from the get-go it wont be tolerated.
Rest in Peace Andre Smith, Ben Hamm, Evan Murray, Kenny Bui, Roderick Williams, Tyrell Cameron and Cam'ron Matthews. May God's grace be put upon you in all eternity.
Philippe Dupuy, soccer isn’t a bad sport. I used to play soccer myself. The main thing I don’t like about many soccer players is that they think their sport is so tough.
+Pretty sure a century is 10,000 years. Yeah hurt yes but I never imagined for a minute I could die. I consider myself brother then most but the arrogance of youth mixed with raging hormones thinking you're invincible and the lack of wisdom that comes with age is a dangerous mix
tackle is not the problem the way it's don is the problem people in football don't have respect for each other they don't care if some one dies that's not any thing good and bro are you affected by this high school boys death and nfl have some of the worst stupid employees they don't have any good idea
It’s not that you need to ban football, you need to properly teach them how to tackle, so that aren’t just landing on people. Ive been playing football for 5 years, and I know that when people tackle properly, no one gets injured.
@@MASKEDMANGUITAR Right, but its thought that sub concussive hits are the main cause of cte so theres no way to really prevent that other than to not play football. I guess you take a certain risk that I don't think is worth it unless you're making a lot of money and even then it's still probably not worth your well being or life.
@@stevenglansberg4448 then again. CTE can show up whether you play sports or not. A hit to the face in basketball can cause it, a header in soccer can cause it, and just sports in general will cause it, but I’m sure a little bit of pee wee football won’t be so bad. The people with cte are usually, nfl, Semi-pro, or college players. Not people in middle school.
looks like a good way to hurt your back too. I played linebacker. you hit with your shoulder so you can your full body weight behind it, just like a fullback is going to get low and drop his head leading with his shoulders into the hit.
He hits above the head, but usually with the shoulder, not the helmet. I think Burfect could calm it down some because other players have, but Shazier probably hurt more guys than Burfect ever did, including himself.
This is due to coaches not teaching how to tackle correctly. I’ve played football my whole life and I’ve never gotten injured when tackling or getting tackled.
I tore my mcl when someone missed a tackle and flew into my block but that’s it lol. I’ve even successfully pulled off a stick hit and nobody got hurt. I’m sure he woke up sore though.
There is no "proper" tackling technique, even if you dont have tackling theres high chances of people hitting their head on the ground with great force. Even if the contact if on the shoulders the brain still gets rocked back and forth.
Running your head into anything over and over again will cause brain damage or worse. All the arguing in the world will not change this science or common sense. Even children know this. It is the job of adults to keep children safe and not encourage this kind of behavior. If an adult wants to run their head into things then let them. A helmet will not keep your brain from slamming into the inside of your scull. Why is this so hard to understand?
You realize that if you remove tackling from football the sport would never be the same. Big hits is what football is all about, no tackling means the sport is basically done for.
Yeah the sport can be fun to watch overweight steroid dudes who can't pay attention in class run at each other as fast as possible and bounce off, but lets be real its a pretty dumb sport...
Honestly I think hiring rugby coaches to teach tackle technique or getting football players to watch tackling in rugby games would seriously help. In rugby, the lack of protective gear/padding/helmets has necessitated a real focus from youth level to the pros on how to tackle properly and safely but effectively as well. As some one who loves football and has played rugby all my life, I really think there are things the NFL, NCAA and youth football could learn from rugby and adapt to football
then they shouldn't be playing the game. no need to change the rules and ruin it for millions just because a few loose their life's. its a dangerous sport, and everyone knows it.
Its not a problem like everyone says.. 7 players a year.. You know how many people die from hockey, Soccer, Sledding... If that make football tackle less.. Then its not football... Why does everyone take something that is said to possibly hurt you and try to make it how they want it
CancerTube My point is everytime you get on that field you could die. You know that when you pu on the pads and helmet. You can't change the game because of a few unfortunate incidents. It's very close to a combat sport and these things occur
Cars are different from football. Some people are just naturals at driving. My dad expected me not to crash and I never drove back then What's your point.
+† Ca7e † I would not know what to do with myself if that was me. I would probably pray to be taken off this earth and pray that Andre makes it to heaven. I would not be able to look anyone in the eye. My heart goes out to both of them. I truly hope the Lord has forgiven that person, and the Lord will help him to somehow be able to move on with his life.
All right. Listen. This is FOOTBALL. Big hits happen, injuries happen, and, in the saddest and worst case scenario, deaths happen. It's terrible but in a sport where you throw your body into another human being there is NO WAY to be "safe." Do I want people to get injured or die? Absolutely not, but these kids, young adults, and pros playing football should know the risks of playing a violent sport and are willing to accept the risks. You can work on your form for tackling, and you probably should, but when two men are running full speed at each other about to lay them out, you can't really control how you hit. If you want football to be a safe sport then take off the pads and put flags on your hips. Otherwise, suck it up and instead of getting yourself injured, injure someone yourself. This is football.
Or instead of trying to injure other players and ending up hurting yourself, make sure your players know how to tackle. So many hs players just run into guys head first trying to make a play. Wrapping people up isn't as cool as giving someone a concussion, but it's safer for both sides. I agree that taking away tackling is a dumb idea, but saying that the solution is to injure someone instead is idiotic.
+Juiceton727 You missed my point; when two people are sprinting toward each other, that man holding the ball isn't just going to let you wrap your arms around him like coaches tell you to. To be clear, my point is there is no definite way to always tackle. Sometimes that 260 pound linebacker running full speed at a 220 pound running back will lay out that running back. When you're in that moment, you're not thinking about appropriate tackle techniques. You're thinking about stopping the ball carrier.
+Jakob Kane I get that and agree, I just think there are too many guys out there that just torpedo into players. It's hard to have a clear message when you advise guys to injure players. That's the attitude that leads to guys getting killed out there.
I don't think that's necessarily the case. My brother has been playing football for 14 years now has had crazy coaches who would actually encourage illegal hits as well as overhearing opposing teams' coaches doing the same. I think making sure punishments for illegal techniques is enforced maybe we'll see a change.
I think everyone is taught, but when you got a guy that's either faster than you or bigger than you, running full steam ahead, it can be hard to make sure you have your head in the "right" place.
@@GalaxyGal- lol yeah I have and comparing Rugby to Pro American Football and saying they're anywhere close to each other is laughable and you can't possibly know much about sports.
+justhuherr well as the parent you knew what your son was getting himself into when he signed up to play yea it's bad he died but he wasn't ignorant to the facts of football
these are reasons football is being ruined because people that never even played football have to put there opions out God u should at least have played football before you tell someone how to tackle
no it's not. the objective of football is to score touchdowns (on offense) and stop the progress of the ball (on defense). exactly HOW one stops the runner can be implemented in many ways. learn how to construct a legitimate analogy first
@@arctictwudle5492 Tackling doesn't cause injury or death, It's the form of how you do it. Most coaches aren't educating their players how to tackle the right way. So no it doesn't make sense and they're not gonna remove tackling.
No tackling football? That is like saying no pucks in hockey because it can hurt the goalie, or no bats or balls in baseball because they are too hard and can injure people if they get hit.
baseball players don't run nearly as much risk of getting CTE because there's little or no skull contact. CTE happens from repeated hits to the cranium, and it can happen fast. a recent study showed even some high school football players have mild CTE after ONE season. kids playing football before the age of 13 have an increased risk of developing neurological abnormalities later in life. google it.
You think hundreds of highschoolers have died over the past 20-some years from hockey or baseball? For every one example of a highschool baseball or hockey player dying there are many many many more examples of a football player dying..
@@shawnfreeman3932 bro have you ever seen hockey I’ve seen guys go through the glass and also have you ever seen someone get ran over at catcher I’ve had it happen to me a couple times before pitchers will severely hurt their arms pitching this season on my team we had some have a high ankle sprain a broke two broke wrists on different people a torn ligament in a shoulder and another almost broke their collar bone
Let'z-B-Gamerz He is referencing a movie where Will Smith portrays a man who was advocating for player safety in the NFL and exposing the lack of concern about concussions and what not. I think it was named Concussion. Based on a true story. I forgot the details though
I played high school football from 2004-2007 and one of the very first things the coaches did with us every year was watch the clips of all the guys that were paralyzed/killed due to leading with their head... It doesn't explain it too well in this video, but when you lead with your head/lower it you basically line up your spinal cord to absorb the entire force of the contact right to an area that not only isn't made to do that, it basically is your bodies highway to the brain. Nerves, control of limbs, control of breathing, control of HEART PUMPING... all of it has some basis in the spinal cord. Don't want to mess around with that, period. Keep your head up, lead with your shoulder and focus on the guys waist (his center of gravity) so you won't get juked/have your arm tackle be brushed off. Stay safe everyone!
football injuries are cranial in nature therefore affecting the players entire life. soccer injuries tend to be single to trouble leg bone break which are nasty but can be repaired. (realize that this is a generalization of these sports injuries, but you "get the picture")
This is why football fans are so passionate about their teams…. Young men LITERALLY risking their lives every snap…. Giving their physical body’s just to gain that extra yard…. It’s truly a gladiator game Please respect the game and it’s fans 🙏🏼
How about we stop letting people that don't play football telling us how to play. When I was a kid I was fully aware it is a dangerous sport, if you or your parents can't accept that, don't play. You can't make a dangerous sport safe 100%. What's next 60 oz gloves in boxing? Headgear in mma? Every year people will get hurt in these sports and sadly some will pass away, but you can't destroy the fun for the 99.99999999999999999% of people that don't have a freak accident.
Rip to those players who died . But that guy probably doesn't know how it feels to hit somebody good in football and then have your teammates congratulate you . don't change the rules
Jaiden Thompson I wish each news station had their own sports people so those people can properly do the news preferably if those people also had a particular sport too
So what do we do now, just hug the players and then ask them "Hello kind sir, would you mind to step down to the ground so I can 'tackle' you? But remember, you must do it carefully, you don't want to get injured now do you? *rich snobby laugh*"
Cosmin Munteanu the point is, you know the risk of playing this dangerous sport. if you don’t like getting hit, don’t play football. it’s that simple. it’s a mans game. just like one of my favorite football player said, “you don’t try and come into a lions den trying to be nice” me myself am very passionate about this sport and I’m 16. but no tackling in football is like trying to fly with out wings. it’s just stupid
the only thing that makes tackling dangerous is the way you tackle. People need to be tought the right way to do it and not just hitsticking for no reason
+Kalen Furman Also i see you on other comments being well "helpful" but more good has come out of football then BAD, same with planes, cars, homes and so on so forth. Once again rejecting this is plain ignorant to play football is choice its not forced kids do it because they want to be active and have fun and with the added bonus of just maybe getting a SCHOLARSHIP and making something of themselves and even better going pro to do what they love once again denying it is ignorant the only thing we can do is make the equipment safer just like cars, planes etc. its a sport and every sport of every country of every time period had injuries... get over it let science do its job and let the PROFESSIONALS decide what will protect our kids in sports and we push comes to shut the fuck up pull your kids out of it
As the US public becomes more educated on Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, there will be a trend where fewer kids will play football and more will be pursuing other sports. Or just focusing more on academics. This is my prediction
Alex Kiss take away helmets and use less pads, that's how to reduce football injuries, the only reason people lead with their head is because of the fact that they have a helmet on, I've played years of backyard football and have never seen 1 person lead with their head because nobody is that dumb, I played 3 years of high school football and saw I'd say at least 100 tackles where someone led with their head, less pads would make it so people would play more cautious and nobody wants to hurt themselves so they will always make clean tackles, I personally have had less injuries playing backyard football then i have playing high school football, 2 concussions and a fractured hand (crushed between 2 helmets/pads) I've probably played 5x more backyard football games and the worst I got there was a sprained ankle from a little dip in the ground, also broke my toe but that because a 300 lbs kid wore cleats and crushed it 30ft in the ground, I cant speak for everyone, i know there have been a good amount of broken bones in backyard football, but they heal, a helmet to helmet hit can cause death or permanent brain damage
@@ltobon661 LMFAOOOOOOOO literally everyone I trash talk on the comments goes to my fucking channel. All I did was put “🤓” and you waste your time going to a video that got no views it’s actually hilarious
My grandson was tackled and hit HARD in the chest. He started acting strange on our way to my car and wanted to lie down in the back seat to sleep. I had him sit up front with me keeping him talking with stupid questions about the game. I drove him to a nearby fire dept. to get checked out. I was NOT taking him home until I knew that he was safe. His resting heart rate was 267! He was rushed to the hospital and stayed for 5 days. They couldn’t bring his heart rate down in the safe zone until the next day and the nurse told me if he’d have gone home to sleep he’d of had a stroke. People, listen to your instincts and if you feel something is off and you’re close to a fire dept. you can go in to get checked out. They’ll put themselves out of service (not dispatched to calls) and will focus on you.
I remember Kareem Jackson from the Texans made a great tackle where he straight lift the other player up from the body and slam him down. It was a great textbook tackle. High school footballers needs to learn how to tackle. So many of them uses their helmet and spearing other players like crazy. Many of them don't have the discipline to tackle properly yet.
I was always taught to do whatever we were comfortable doing, ive never had an injury except for when I dove on a fumble and got a concussion after someone else dove into me.
a lot of them don't and will not have the strength to tackle correctly. it's not easy to lift a grown human especially if he is bigger stronger and faster then you are so there tech suffers kind of like lifting weights that are too heavy for you to handle...
Remember that this is one college league and not every person playing football, the stats are much worse than this and it does not always involve death but irreversible brain damage

it does. watch rugby big hits. rugby union has stricter rules then rugby league but they both still tackle with the shoulder. and in my opinion you will get much bigger hits then that bear hug thing the players were showing at the end
They said how bout just remove tackling from high school football! It wouldn't be the same, like a team saying yeah my team made it to state championships NO TACKLE FOOTBALL
Rest in peace to everyone who has passed away from tackling, but removing tackling from High School football was probably the worst idea I've ever heard. Maybe instead of completely ruining the sport, forcing coaches how to teach players how to tackle would be a better alternative. Without tackling, football would be the most boring sport to watch.
