Yeah, great job trying to get in the ref's ear while you're boy's opponent is setting the pace. The boy setting the pace is also a high school kid. Great.

In reality he would just move up or down a weight class to avoid him, but yeah, still crazy.

Agreed but Valencia is not your ordinary high schooler. He's on the US Cadet World Team and has already won multiple gold medals in international wrestling competitions. He also has six judo titles from the Junior Olympics. Kid's elite.

@wayman88 Now, that is an list of accomplishments. And I'm going to guess that he is another of the Valencias brothers, zahid and family that were ASU Sundevils. Just a guess.

@@timsmothers8740 No, they're actually not. Got a chance to try and talk him into coming out to the B1G, but he was pretty committed to stay out West. I'd mention Foley hasn't looked great, but...Jeesus, this kid is class of '24 and he just dominated him. The gap between the best HS Wrestlers and that kinda second tier of College Wrestlers(not the guys who can compete for a NC) is getting smaller and smaller. Real Woods could win the next two Titles at 141 and Stanford may still have a better '41 pounder(which is what I'm guessing he'll be in a couple years).

Aden took third last year at state…not saying he’s not a stud, because he is. But he’s not some multiple state champ that will dominate everyone this year. him even major-ing montanona is a far stretch. Foley looked weak and slow….he got stomped….but I don’t think this one match is an indication that Aden can beat the typical 125 or 133 AA, or that Foley would lose to other HSers.

This is true. These days not as many California kids wrestling D1 it seems but we still have our superstars.

Please..... there are NJ, PA, IA state champions who wouldn't get out of sectionals in CA.

This is absolutely true. When I was getting ready for College, I was...absolutely not. I had a lot of the accolades(not like Aden) but Fargo, World Team, etc...but I got into the room and we had a boarder-line AA(ended up finishing 4th that year) and it would be 20 TDs to 1 deep shot that he'd fend off! RS, then a tough year with the B1G schedule, but head above water, then after TWO full years I felt like I could compete. Now I recruiting these kids(trying to anyway) and you definitely still have to project out 2-3 years, but there's also just the best of the best where you can see they're good enough to make most lineup's right NOW and compete. There was a kid from Wisconsin last year who beat Assad. He wasn't even undefeated in Wisconsin. Though, to be fair to Aden, he beat Assad in a ONE TD match and they wrestled ear to ear and he got a go-behind late. Valencia here just beat him in every way a Wrestler can be beat. It was absolutely amazing. Beautiful job.

@@scourge8097 a lot of these kids are in D1 D2 wrestling rooms during the summer, Training with the college level guys as high school freshman. Things are definitely at another level this day and age.

@Rstlr Yeah... there are also more clubs and great former wrestlers who are coaching. And there are also just more kids Wrestling. MMA has been big for the sport.

@@ryanmilner9144 Yup. I've watched Rayvon compete since HS (thanks, FloWrestling). He was always a slick wrestler. That weight cut can really impact performance...as evidenced by the recent 'overnight improvement' of Austin Gomez. That's not taking anything from Valencia...who got it done👍.
