Just saying it kinda discredits the speed tests if you dont do them on camera

@@BulletBarry Yeah i was gonna add to my comment how i understand why for video purposes you may not want to but i think adding the 30-50 seconds would be worth. Just my $0.02

USA is strange. Here in Romania, if you have a contract on Orange carrier, you have unlimited internet on 4G or 5G including Hotspot. The only drawback is that the hotspot eats the phone battery really fast.

Everywhere else in the world the hotspot functionality isn't charged separately, it's just you using your internet how you see fit.

Neat device. Although the dependency on cell is still pretty limiting. Most of the places I like to hang out the closest connections are in orbit.

It's c-band so it's range is extended somewhat and it's supposed to be true unlimited and no throttling. Imma test it soon myself

So I've been contemplating getting the Nomad Air, but then I saw some reviews on receiving used equipment. First of all the travel pack most videos are reviewing are not available. Then when questioned receiving a new vs used, there is a 50/50 chance of receiving a used modem. I've requested new but all I get, receiving either new or used, it'll work the same. So basically im.pretty sure they'll send out used. So do I or don't I?

What sounds really intising about this is , as you mentioned, it has a use in emergancies. So if your normal router doesnt work or the power goes out, this one serves as a back-up one. Im saying this because it definitely has the most use for people who travel a lot like you, but also has its use if you are not. Just, way less.

Sounds like a real useful piece of equipment for road-trippin… Hoping for another road trip video soon, Cheers!

If you freeze the video when he is showing his so-called speed results you can clearly see NOT even connected to WiFi and is full of shit!

it sounds good but you should have made a comparison to your mobile phone speeds at every place and started the tests on video, not just a picture after. cause the way it looks rn, it just feels like a cheap ad

I have a Jet Pack from Verizon that I've been using for over 2 years. I haven't had any problems with throttling or connections. I travel a lot but I don't think I've been in any extreme rural areas.

This looks pretty rad. I wonder if there's any enterprise level management abilities associated with it. I could talk my boss into getting me one for when we fly to diff facilities and that, while using my phones SIM card, or even by using our company SIM.

I'm not exactly sure how it works with limited hotspots in the USA, but I have been using my phone as an adapter for my PC for the past year since my internet adapter broke. More specifically, I am using something called USB Tethering. All I have to do is connect a USB cable from my phone to my PC and use the internet available on my phone without turning on the hotspot because it simply utilizes mobile data or the Wi-Fi network I'm connected to without treating it as a second device. I don't know if that will work or not I have no idea how the US measures it, but I believe it's worth a shot. Of course, you can then create a hotspot from Windows if you want to connect even more devices, but I'm not sure how that would work since I never use it.

Northern California is very spotty with cell phone service. Have you tried that area? I went to the Nomad site but couldn't find a coverage map, do you know of one?
@JessicaFEREM

Would be preferable if it allowed regular users to plug it in between the modem and router and then swap between cell and cable

You're in shady cove Oregon, and your server shows up with a Portland location. Understandable. However, when you were in Cascade, it showed a Denver Colorado server. That is over 11 hours away. Uhh....wut?

Not having unlimited data as default in phone plan sounds so weird. I don't thin here has been that kind of plan for nearly 20years. I remember that is was thing ion early 3g days but went away fast

Nah Bro it's been like 8yrs. You know how I know? Because I was on a 2gb/mo data plan up until about 2015 when it was finally cheap enough to just go unlimited with Verizon.
