@randy3659 Check your Idle gap to be 1.5mm open. Once adjusted, if the problem isn't solved, Richen out the LSN 1/8 CCW.

Very good explanation, and I have to say that the engine of your car is very good a well because it allows to show all this, I mean it is very responsive to leaning / enriching settings, it always reacts the same way when tuned the same way... My 4.6 nitro Savage is sometimes a bit of a mistery... but maybe it is because I'm not so good in tuning it...

Yeah Deantjah is right, I do this to check compression of the engine and also to move some more fuel to the engine ready for the next start :)

@jamesv671 Good question. Ideally the HSN first. LSN is more of a Fine Tuning needle & normally adjusted last.

@threepot Hi there, Start with the High speed needle. Give it a drive and see how it behaves, and then tune it accordingly. If you have big troubles with it (won't run at all) then I'd recommend looking up the defaults online or checking user manual, and returning both needles to factory settings and then go from there ;)

@graemecan yep I think Landcross has SH Engine, so if it is then yes do half turn from Flush to edges (level) and see how that works

hmm sometimes can mean that. but don't ALWAYS go by smoke. By all means, if your engine is running good, then don't worry about tuning it just by the smoke. :)

If your referring to the pinch test then you should be adjusting the LSN, not HSN. Check my LSN tuning video. ---------->

Well throttle response is more a sign of properly tuned LSN rather than HSN. HSN the engine will reach high RPM and not bog or quit. Plus temps will be good

@RoarzRC Sounds HSN rich to me. this is common issue and is caused by too much fuel for engine & so floods the second you release off the throttle. I've a Trophy 3.5 tuning video uploading, look out for it

interesting thing is....I literally just got a Traxxas 3.3 engine for my T-Maxx....I figured the needles would be adjusted properly from the factory (i'm a total Nitro Noob...I have had my T-Maxx for 1 1/2 weeks and actually ran it for about 30 minutes...killed 2 glow plugs, and had engine replaced under advisement from RC shop that I had to drive 100 miles to get to!....Clutch was all messed up etc...I did get it used, no telling what previous owner did to it) I'll try these methods in the morn

Don't underestimate how quickly these things warm up :) most nitro engines are at operating temperature within 1 minute of run time

Yes or you can try cooler glow plug or Higher your Nitro percentage. Failing that, perhaps add a heatsink with more cooling fins or add some airflow holes to your body shell.

It causes the engine to run lean usually and you'll have a very inconsistent tune setup. It will go from rich to lean, rich to lean the whole running time. You can fix it by replacing the seal inside fuel tank, the fuel lines and if your using an inline primer, fuel filter or fuel cooler check that things are tightly screwed and connected there.

I need help with my volcano s30 when ever I start it the wheels start spinning how do I fix this

Hi ,good informative stuff. I have bought a used Ansmann 21 Terrier,have only managed to start it a few times.Wont run for long. Dont know if carb is at stock? Whats the best way to tune carb using your info? Start with LSN 1st? How can I check if setting are stock? Thanks

If only tuning Novarossi was this easy ;) Scary to go full throttle in the air because its so fast and loud depending on pipe.

Sounds to me like you have an air leak somewhere. Check Fuel lines, heatsink screws & if you are using in line fuel filter, cooler or primer bulb, check that there are no leaks there.
