Thank you so much dear doctor. My provider wants to put me on thyroid hormone due to my TSH being 5.3 but I have normal T4 and T3. I’ve never had thyroid issues. I believe my TSH is elevated because I’m under severe emotional stress and experiencing lots of grief and anxiety because I just lost both my husband and my mother 😢 I’m 43 and totally depressed….. so I believe this has caused my elevated TSH. Also I’m not eating. I barley eat to stay alive

i cut back my coffee to one mug a day (from 3) and my TSH dropped down from 8.27 to a 5.9 in 3 weeks. I think a lot of people are walking around with taxed adrenals from coffee/caffeine drink culture. Therefore, killing our HPA Axis and fucking up our hormones. I'm going to try and keep caffeine down for next 3 months and see if I can get it into normal range.

My adrenals are mega fatigued I used to drink 500+ mg of caffeine a day . I stopped and starting to feel a tiny bit better and getting more energy . Still waiting on my doc appointment

I was tested at 22 years old because of massive hair loss. TSH came back at 7. Doctor said it was fine. I tested again 6 months later, it was at 3.30, so in range. Like you said "it normalised". 10 years later and half of my hair gone, I tested again, tho I was advised against it. My TSH was at 36.... Some people will never normalise and will keep having a shitty thyroid all their life. Just because someone's TSH dropped once doesn't mean they "normalised". Keep testing them and you'll see for a lot their TSH swing wildly.

Agreed, genetics can make the symptoms persist even with "normal" TSH. Presence of antibodies lead to more inflammation & elevated prolactin- in case of Hashimoto's. Even with the best diet it can progress over the years and result in a full blown thyroid disorder.

I was losing hair, a dermatologist tested my hormones level. Found out TSH was at 5.07. He didn't prescribe any meds for that, he only prescribed for hair loss which didn't work at all. After 7 months, a week ago I noticed my thyroid gland looks bigger. Went to an endocrinologist and my TSH level is now 11.4 which means hypothyroid. I've been losing hair, feeling tired and mentally depressed for so long, my family said everything was ok with me and I didn't want to complain.

I have a nodule on my thryoid that they said watch... still not biopsied and now for months many swollen lymph-nodes at my clavicle and neck too - one decidedly not squishy. TSH 8.90. Been feeling very very sick...my CT scan appointment for whole area is finally tomorrow, been asking for help since May, it's October...I am so tired of feeling tired, very nauseated and dropping weight (I had that menopausal thing where I couldn't even dieting and exercising, so my husband pointed it out, I couldn't tell cuz I am so tired and my brain hurts...literally) - weirdly not so depressed as people talk about...I just want help and BIOPSIES to rule out anything more sinister. I think 8.9 is pretty high - my GP called after seeing that and just recommended starting Synthroid? in an email, didn't even SEE me...but I fought to get these scans as I know there is more than hypothyroid going on...I just know.

When i drink coffee, i will feel jittery, with stomach discomfort. Recently i tried applying betadine iodine from throat to stomach, and my discomfort reduced by 80%. But when I drink 4 cups in 3 days, the iodine benefits are much reduced. Cud it be coffee increase TSH and some how reduced T3 or T4, such that we need iodine to offset.

What did her lifestyle look like? Did she make any alterarions at all? There has got to be a cause or explanation for elevated tsh. I dont believe tsh goes that high without a cause. And these days i thought 4.0 was subclinical, 6 is insane. Not saying giving drugs is the way i just dont believe things that extreme "just happen"

Thank you so much for this great information! Is it possible to ween yourself off of Thyroid meds if you have been on it for years? I was put on one when I was in college when I wasn’t eating a healthy diet… 40 years later I’m still on a low dose of Armour but I would love to get off of it if I could! I always read that once you start with them, you have to remain in them because it takes over your own thyroid… I wish my doctor would have talked about diet instead of just putting me on it… thanks so much!

This happened to me but I was only in the 5 range and then put in meds without a full thyroid panel to see what else is going on. I had no symptoms at all. I’ve been on Synthroid for 2 years and badly want to be off but have no idea how to back out of this and don’t want to do anything stupid. Hi, I have been diagnosed with Hashymoto. When my TSH is high my T4 is normal. After adjusting the syntroid, my TSH goes back to normal but my T4 goes high. I have been in 4 or 5 different thyroid specialists and they do not know what is going on. Different theories. Do you or someone know about this condition?

Mine does the same. Right now my tsh is too low on reference range, but my free t4 is normal. If my medication is reduced, I can't function and start to gain a tonne of weight without changing diet or lifestyle. I've had a thyroidectomy on one side because of nodules.

What time of day is it best to check these levels? I have insomnia and I think it's what's raising my level. It's 6.7 now. T4 normal. I've stopped iodised salt and I've stopped putting fish oil in my stir fries.

Hello Dr I had radiaotherapy for larynx cancer a year ago. I am doing great now. My las labs show TSH at 12 but my T4 says free. Normal. Maybe my TSH is due to the fact that I had radiation? Also had a CT and my thyroid look good.

Good Day Sir!! My new born TSH are 8.8, then repeat showed 7.4, then 9.8 and the latest one is 7.8mIu/L. His T4 are normal on every lab( 1.7,1.5.1.3 and 1.4ng/dl. I had hyperthyroidism few months back my FT3 FT4 were slightly increased but my TSH was low 0.2 so when my FT3 FT4 got normal the doctor continued the medication because my tsh was still low. After that for 2 months I didn’t get it checked but lowered the dose of my medicine and now after I checked my FT3 is 2.23 and FT4 is 0.90 and my TSH is 35.. what should I do? My TSH 3RD GENERATION on my recent blood work-- my doctor said was high 5.0. She wants to recheck in 3 months. Years ago they put me on thyroid medicine, I decided to go off of it after like 7 years-- (my doctor knew about this) and my levels have been normal up until this latest blood work test which I have every year. I just had the same I was 5.09 I have been tired and fatigued and a bit shaky. So they said I should start Levothyroxine. I’m honestly scared because like most FDA approved meds it causes strokes and heart attacks. My mom had a heart scare because she was on it too.

T4 only treatment usually doesn’t work well for everyone.. you may need t3 added to it, or t3 only treatment. Read Stop The Thyroid Madness and Paul Robinsons books.

So if at 72 yoa I have never needed thyroid meds b4 and my tsh is only 6.26, I really should let it ride and see what happens next year? You're saying it isn't really hypo until my tsh is over 10, right? I do feel tired, but I've been blaming it on the state of our world. I have hashimotos and have an important question. I'm 24 years old am very active and eat excellent. I take .05mg Synthroid. My antibodies have been reduced by about 30% this year 180 to 130. T3 normal. Slightly high t4. And slightly high tsh. What do I do? I have anxiety and fatigue and can't tell what it's from. I used to get bad panic attacks when I wasn't on meds (not knowing I was hypo) Is there a way I can get my t4 and tsh down a little?

Take cod liver oil , high quality vitamin E, beef liver , bone broth, no bluelight before bed, consistent sleep schedule, no gluten or dairy, couple brazil nuts daily. Sunshine daily, clean water to drink, no caffeine. And maybe ashwagandha if your body reacts well with it. And some probiotics with your meals. Electrolytes (potassium, magnesium, sodium) and stretching or exercise but stretching is like healing and helps lymphatic system

I would say almost the opposite is true. Before they found out about my Hashimoyo I was getting tested repeatedly and because my TSH was just slightly elevated and they did not test my antibodies they were saying i was ok. They basically damaged my heart and i was getting worse and worse. I am not sure if this js a great advice.

I was given thyroid hormone for my tsh of 4.3 and tpo 180 I was on it for a year and gained 50 pounds despite continuous efforts to lose weight. I thought iron and progesterone were the cause, but those are balanced now. Im off the thyroid hormone now (90 mg armour and 20 mcg cytomel) as I believe it made me gain an insane amount of weight in a short time.

how can thyroid hormone if ur HYPO make u gain weight, doesnt make sense. u were hypo as its clear from your high TSH so what happened is u didnt get ENOUGH t4 or t4 and thus hypo fucked u up amd gained weight. nobody gains weight from increasing their metabolism, nobody

@@DarkoFitCoach trust me, it did something as I kept increasing the dose and I also added t3 while doing labs and tweaking each dose. My dose was high enough. I am pretty sure that I wasn’t supposed to take it due to adrenal fatigue, or whatever you call It. My Naturopath said taking NDT thyroid hormone can open up new problems. This is probably what he meant.

@@DarkoFitCoach you would think, right? My t4 and t3 were pretty much optimal, and tsh was 0.001. But since starting meds, my weight kept going up steadily
