You're dad is an awesome truck driving instructor. He doesn't raise his voice in anger when you make a mistake, nor does he start cussing a blue streak. He has a very mellow tone, yet firm when he wants to make a point. You are lucky to have him for a teacher. One of these trips you will look over at him and he will be napping! You are doing fine.
Kates Dad is a cool Montana farmer. Hes not angry , just another generation and tough. You go to any of the real local cafes and you will see tables of retired farmers with their coffees catchin up. Like clockwork. Heartbeat of America.
Awesome job Kate! Remember one thing. When your behind the wheel, you are captain in charge. Everyone can voice their help (Dad) but only you are the person that gets it done. You have wonderful patience and nerves of steel! I would have lost it a couple of times!
Hello Kate! I'm a new subscriber to your channel and am really enjoying the videos! We are a family farm located in central Iowa and we share life on the farm on RU-vid as well! I am a 13 year old girl and I run our RU-vid channel! Wow, it's really windy there! You did a great job running the tandem! I enjoyed the video and am looking forward to more!
Hello from Montana!! Thank you so much for your wonderful and kind comment!!! It is really fantastic that you have started your own channel and I would love to meet you guys someday!! Girl Power!!!! I wish you the most success and please let me know if I can help you in any way!!!!! You are an inspiration!!!!!
Hi Kate. I'm 67 and your driving lessons remind me when my dad let me drive his '49 Ford coupe on some dirt roads. He would tell me of the responsibilities that farm kids had. It is true and you are doing great in life. You have a happiness in you that won't quit. Keep it close to your heart.
Hello Kate ag ,you're an amazingly patient person, on your posts every time that you are driving, I am glue to your eyes because they tell everything that is happening, sometimes I feel that you are about to do the right move , but dad isn't giving you credit when he is right on top .Kate ag you're an amazingly talented fast learner. Just continue being patient with dad ,it's love and he does trust in you .Kate bye from Texas 🤠👍p.s my dad was like that ,I give him all the credit, he was awesome.
This one goes out to Kates Dad. A thought on your workers forgetting to shut off the trucks PTO. In the past. we have burned out a few pumps by doing the exact same thing. We now wire a red light to the PTO lever and mount the light in the center of the dash, that way they can never be forgotten and left engaged, as when the PTO is engaged, the light is shining in your face.
5:20 Hahaha The interactions between you and your father are priceless. You pull out the air brakes then look at your father for a reaction. 😂😂Brings me way back to the days when my Dad was teaching me. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful journey! You're doing so good! Everything on the farm you're learning so fast, well done Kate!
Добрый день Кэти, интересный ролик, ты уже прям как настоящий профи управляешь таким большим грузовиком, А ветер очень сильный, но это погода, она иногда преподносит нам вот такие сюрпризы. Привет папе .
Kate... thanks for the great videos. You're doing great. It's funny watching your facial expressions when your dad's giving you advice. I can see the wheels turning. Keep it up.
You did it way to go your dad is a great instructor he's awesome you keep up the good work young lady and guess what you got his ticket this time all right that win like that took you for a loop didn't it but it's okay you got it done and I'm so proud of you you are something special see you next video over and out good buddy 10-4
The interactions with you father are amazing. it's been a pleasure watching your growth with all the equipment. Dad, thanks for being a patient and good instructor with your daughter.
You Dad is so calm, cool and collected, while you are so nervous in the truck.. Priceless!! You're doing GREAT Kate, keep your chin up and smile because the hole world is watching you.
Thank you Miss Kate for wearing your seat belts, I hope Dad does too when traveling. Dad is a big hit here on the You Tube. Dad is great when he gets his grumpy Danish up.
I can feel you willing the truck to behave and not stall as you're under dad's steely gaze, telling you not to go left.... awesome work Kate, keep it up and dad can relax once again 👍
Hi all I some times driver refrigeration semis, I noticed that it was windy when Kate opened the door once and just wanted to say that big doors in high winds are quite a safety hazards as they become great big powerful sails. After have a bad experience with the trailer barn doors in high winds, I am now very careful to where I stand and position myself when opening doors. I stand so if the wind ever blows the doors from my hands it will not take my head off. It has killed people in the past so please be aware. Great videos Kate and your dad's so cool, 😎
Thank you for your great story and kindness!!! Yes I know what you mean. We can't open doors on each side of the truck or any vehicle when its windy because all the contents blow away to North Dakota or Canada!!! LOL
I continue to be amazed at the trust and responsibility your father shows as he teaches you hands-on. Initially, I thought he was just a crusty older gentleman - but now I think he is just premature gray! I think it was Winston Churchill that stated: "I like to learn, but don't always like being taught"!
Hi Kate your getting better remember reference points just like driving down the road, i drove 7 & 9 ton trucks for the P.O. like you i learned. Happy 70k !!!!
I hope your dad knows how special it is to have a child willing to follow the family business let alone a beautiful young lady. Your special Kate! Btw my daughter is a Kate too, her nick name is special K. Would fit you too!
You always put a smile on my face, Kate, watching you learn and explain yourself is Awesome :-) In trucking, the Golden Rule is: " Keep the Rubber Side Down! ".
See Kate? You're getting better and better at it each time with more truck driver's seat time and trips! Nothing beats experience for those who want to learn! Thanks for another video that made me smile! :-)
I just stumbled upon your videos and I absolutely love them. You're charismatic, intelligent, respectful and cute as a button. I bet your dad is so proud of you. You are a daughter every parent could hope for. You keep it up and you are going to go anywhere and do anything you want to do!
Kate, as per the clutch pedal struggles, beyond the seat fore/aft setting, other settings that may help if its still comfortable for you is to put the seat back more upright as that will give you a surface to push your back off from as I was watching and could instantly see you have to lean back to brace into the seat back to get that anchor point to push from. Also if the seat is set into the fore/aft rocker position which is for absorbing the jiggly bumps, locking it in place won't allow the seat to roll back every time you push on the clutch but I don't know which setting you have it set at, something you would have to play with or ask your dad if you are not familiar with that setting.
Hi Kate, I would take a look at the seat suspension, looks like seat still set for somone heavier than you. You have the strength by the way love Dads old coat sleeve bit dangerous mind then again you know all this. I am in Norfolk England the original one 😄 take care on the farm ya all
It's so fun to follow your development Kate! After the latest incident, you can easily start to hesitate, but not you tough girl! 😉 It reminds when I were your age and got to help on the farm at home. I guess sometimes my father thought it was a bit challenging, but just like with your father, he had patience. You are a brave and so talentet! Warm greetings from Sweden! 😊
I know wind, having experienced lots of it in Saskatchewan. One time I rode my bike to the next town, 8 miles away, without having to pedal. Coming back against the wind was sheer torture, though. In the mid 1960s a farmer hired my friend, myself, and a few other boys to build a granary 20 feet wide by 50 feet long, and I think 20 feet tall, constructed like a wooden grain elevator, with 2 X 4s laid flat and long nails which would go through two of them and into the third. We used heavy hammers, and after the first day, we spent the next day in great pain, hammering by holding the hammer in both hands. None of us had any experience with construction, but we put together a pretty strong building, or so I thought. Thirty years later I drove out to the farm to check out what we proudly built in our teen years. It was utterly demolished, torn to pieces with broken lumber by what was called a plow wind. Part of a metal granary remained beside it. The base was bolted into a concrete pad, but the wind ripped out some of the legs of the granary. In a town about 15 miles away there was a storage area for those metal bins. The wind picked up a few and blew them through town. I guess Montana is just as windy. Maybe it is time to buy some ruby slippers, or perhaps another colour. The ruby slippers might take you to Kansas.
Kate, like others here I must say you are doing a great job learning all these jobs. Might I suggest that a modest pillow at your back or move the seat forward a bit so you can utilize the power stroke of your leg on the pedals. You should not have to rely on the steering wheel for leverage to operate the pedals. It is not the best for you the way you are doing it. At least try it. Stay safe and warm as the wind blows. Hope your dad got a copy of the ticket that blew away.
Thank you for your great suggestion and kindness!!! The wind is very strong and I never did find the ticket that blew away!!!! It is probably in North Dakota now!!!! hahaha
Great job Kate, im so impressed how much you have learnt in a short space of time, i love your facial expressions when you concentrate ha ha, keep up the great work, stay safe and keep smiling. 👍
Your dad cracks me up, Clutch..brake..bark, bark,bark..Go..Stop..bark,bark,bark...use this mirror..not that mirror..bark,bark,bark..blinker..brake..go..stop..bark,bark,bark, 🐕 Your doing Great there Lil Beast ( except I worried for you when you opened the door to get out in that wind 😳😳 )Come on Dad, make farming fun 💪👍🇺🇸
I bet your dads ole jacket could tell a heck of a lot of stories. Had one myself that was over 35yrs young an still going strong. The muscles in your leg are goin to be huuuge with that clutch😃.Keep it up Kate, you're goin great.
"Trucking with Kate" I want to see you pull into a Loves or Flying J truck stop with a semi tractor trailer and record the reaction of all the old timer truckers as you get out of the truck and saunter inside like you own the place. That would be a hoot! :)
The trucks are not easy - but you are not letting that big beast of a truck beat you. As others have said - you are doing great. Your dad will agree - having a daughter that wants success and works hard - that is the best part of being a dad.
Hello Kate, I liked the video where you went flying with your dad. It reminded me of the time my dad took me flying at about ten years old, and he let me fly (hold and turn the wheel) the plane! I don't think he ever would of let me land, though!! You're dad must have a lot of faith in you!!
You are a most fortunate young lady and mature beyond your age. Too, your Dad is pretty awesome; it is those such as he who make America Great. Your Dad raised you right! Maybe you could ask your Dad and Mom if you can start a small business to directly sale some of your families wheat, with recipes to boot, to your subscribers. It may be a little pricey due to shipping but I think many of your subscribers would buy some just a a token of appreciation for your contributions. Be Blessed Miss Kate, you and your entire family Lass.
Great Job Kate! The more you do it, the more Awesome You will become!! And, the front camera views were awesome, especially the sky, fields and road! As far as the wind. You may need to connect a lifeline from the truck to yourself (LOL)! Also, Great Job Mr. Stephen for teaching your daughter many wonderful farming skills!!
Hey Kate, your doing just fine. I saw you taking a few peeks at the camera as your great dad was instructing you. 😂 It’s great how you go over the quality of the grain and pricing.
Ur daddy always sounds ornery and. Upset but believe me he’s not. Just a different era he’s from, tough and to the point. But you Kate are a new era and ur style with farm to fashion is just as relevant. 👍
Thank you for your wonderful comment and kindness!!! I totally understand that and some think Dad is grumpy but that is just how he is. I think he is very kind and he is very good at explaining how to run equipment to all our workers too.
You're doing such a great job Kate! And to have your Dad as your driving instructor is definitely a plus! Always know he's telling you what to do to see you grow as a farmer! He's such a calm and laid back guy. Don't ever think that he doesn't believe in you as well. He sees that your heart is in farming to carry on the family tradition! Keep up the good work I believe in you too! Thanks for sharing your videos and I'm viewing them from Delmar, Delaware.
That deep breath felt good, didn't it?! Nice job Kate, you'll get the hang of it in not time! By the time you get 27 you'll will not need to think for the deep breath part, it'll be a second nature ;) Thank you for the content!
Kate that was the best I learned and enjoyed I had a good teacher your dad and you never miss a video thank you for sharing and your time was really great loved it pretty lady 😊
Bravo Kate your mastering this truck driving gig and your dad is always lovingly guiding you and your laugh/smile is contagious. Thanks for sharing blessings from NZ
Always use a three point grab, getting in and out of a truck, who needs a sprained ankle. During high wind, try to set yourself up to get out on the leeward side of truck. And again, keep your thumbs out of the middle part of steering wheel, especially around train tracks, a spoke can come around and sprain your thumb. Ouch!
Sometimes your dads head is "this big around and this deep" But only worth 8 bucks. Hahaha, just kidding Kate. Your dads a cool dude. Keep the great vids coming.
Well your getting better at driving each time. Dad still needs to stop talking and let you take control of things . I had to learn on my own and never had someone telling me what to do at unloading. Hopefully you’ll get to where dad stops talking. Katherine your good and happy with everyone stay safe warm sunny day sunshine beautiful see your next video ✌🏻❤️
Kate, now that you have done a number of trips it wouldn't be an all bad idea if you had one of your willing uncles for example or a trusted neighbour who is also very familiar with the truck swap places with your dad and so your uncle would observe and you drove and you did a talking/driving commentary of of what you were doing as you went through the motions of driving and the steps you take at the elevator and so on. Your uncle would not be telling you anything unless it was an actual safety issue, just sit and say nothing but observe as you did all the thinking and driving. At the end of the trip you would then tell your uncle what things you felt you did wrong or could have done better and what area's you did well at. I know this could come across as odd or negative towards your dad but that is not at all what I am getting at. Its a method that helps progress a learning process, think of it like flying semi solo, help is there if you need it but otherwise you are the captain. Years ago I was hired on at an oil field company and was flown down to Tulsa where that company had a driver training center and that is one of the things they did, have me the student do a driving commentary as I drove through town and no I was not looking forward to doing such a thing LOL. Long ago my brother and I helped our two nieces to learn to drive, standard shift vehicle at that and their dad had only done a bit with them in an automatic and being their dad and his personality didn't mesh well lets say and their mom was not confident enough to have them behind the wheel of their vehicle either. I believe they were 16 and 14 at the time and although that was just the initial stages of their learning experience, both of them became excellent drivers, winter driving on crappy roads, you name it ( they are 41 and 39 now ) .
EXELLENT IDEA! I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice this about her dad. He's got very little confidence in her, and he won't let Kate to think for herself. Yes he loves her, and means well; but he doesn't realize his constant criticism is not helping her gain any self confidence. My dad did this crap with my mom for one trip into town with the Ford pickup truck (4 speed standard) in the 1970's, and she got back home, slammed the door, called him things I can't repeat here, and she never drove it again.
@@edwardschwenk3100 I had a feeling some others might relate to the teaching process, its really no different to how some school teachers who really know there stuff have difficulty getting the students to understand a course where another teacher has different methods and gains a students confidence. None of us can be the best at every roll we try to take on in life, certainly not everyone can be a successful farmer like Kate's dad either.
@@KatesAg Kate, I think you might be pleasantly surprised how many seasoned truck drivers would enjoy the opportunity of helping you with your driver training to the point of getting your license. Don't sell yourself short, I can easily see you have the ability and the right attitude and those things go a long way. You've already proven to yourself you are quite capable behind the controls of a combine as well as running an air drill and even behind the controls of an aircraft. In a word, You got this Kate !
would it be easier for you to reach the pedals if you moved your seat up a little,, one thing that is very important is to have your mirrors positioned so you can see well when you are backing.
Out of curiosity, how many different trucks can you drive? Also, is all of the grain you sell taken to the granary by truck? With how large your farm is that must be a lot of trips. What might help you to center the truck your driving better is to have someone stand out in front of it. Then you could pick a spot on the hood to align with the scale or whatever you need to align it with. It's just that trucks are different widths and different heights so that'd give you an idea. Maybe even place a piece of duct tape to the spot on the hood to make it easier for you.
Hi little Kate, how are you? A nice for you and your dad, you become a driving pro and your dad appreciates it too ! Good luck and good continuation for you and your dad !
In late 2020 and beginning of 2021 you regularly upload farming video and other videos of daily life on the farm. Which were very interesting to watch but now I think you just stick to a typical school routines- harvesting , seeding , bailing , harrowing , hauling grains etc.(Repeat Again) Which is good and very important part of farming that need to be shown to the audience. but at the same time it's become very boring (according to me). It would be great if you again start uploading daily life videos on the farm with your old farming equipments , interviewing other farmers , visiting other farms , exploring montana's other agriculture communities. Just like you're doing a year before! Pardon me if I'm wrong. My intention is not to hurt your feelings. You're doing awesome with your channel. It's my opinion and I think why not to share with you. I hope you will take it as a positive review. Thanks!
Well done Kate, this trip your Dad seemed a bit more relaxed and no monitors hurt or papers lost! 😁. Like I said a couple days ago, you would get the hang of it. Next time it will be even easier. Pretty soon Dad will take a nap while you drive. Heh Heh! Cheers
