While Gisele signed the VS super contract it was a multi-year not a 25 m per year. And most of the income counted as modelling is actually from her lending her name to various brands and also other projects, not modelling. So as impressive as the earnings are they should not be counted as modelling.

I am of the view that Daria Werbowy and Gemma Ward are the only high fashion models in the list who really worked their way up this list without the need to promote and leverage themselves through social media or pulling in followers (during their successful years or even now) or joining the Victoria’s Secret crowd or launching their own brand and products (like flip flops)/ being an entreprenur/philanthropist or appearing on commercial tv (like MTV’s house of style). They defined their era of models (alien/doll face and Canadian wave) and are truly one of a kind during the early to mid to late 2000s. They never sought any real attention from the media or cared about the media. I’m pretty sure outside of the high fashion crowd, if the general public noticed Daria, it was because she dated Josh Hartnett for a short period and the public noticed Gemma being the last lover of Heath Ledger before his passing. Gemma only started to gain a tiny bit of prominence in the general sphere when she started venturing into the film industry with The Strangers and Pirates of the Caribbean. Both Daria and Gemma are so effortless and relaxed, never seeking attention or wanting to be in the limelight. But they almost always deliver when being in ad campaigns. They held their own and could easily stand against any of the greats like Linda and Christy and Kate and Gisele and Natalia, especially Daria. They truly deserved the no. 1 title on Models.com back in the mid-2000s without even trying. I do wish that they were more famous with the general public because they were everywhere on ads and almost achieved that supermodel status but alas they obviously do not want media attention or fame. Especially Daria. I want her to appear on commecial tv if given the opportunity. Really miss her and her body of work even though she decided to lead a reclusive life today. Hope she suddenly comes back one day and experiences a career renaissance and becomes the face of Prada and Lancome and Chanel again and is everywhere. Because she definitely was everywhere during her heydays. And Gemma too though she did experience some sporadic career resurgence recently. Daria and Gemma were definitely one of a kind and a force of nature once upon a time.

If you translate what Schiffer made in terms of record braking contracts and earnings to the last supermodel Gisele she's still by far the highest paid model in history. You have to remember that then they actually made their money off modelling well into the past half of their careers when they started branching out. Today's models and because of the supermodels don't make most of the bank from modelling but branching out and the press sells the highest paid and they enter all earnings instead of what they actually make by modelling alone.
