Highland Reel Scottish Highland Dance competition during 2022 Aboyne Highland Games in Scotland 

Graceful competitors in a Highland Reel Scottish Highland dance during the 2022 Aboyne Highland Games. This was held on Aboyne Green in Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland on Saturday 6th August 2022. The dancers are wearing the Aboyne Dress, the outfits worn by female highland dancers, and 2022 marked the 70th anniversary of the introduction of this outfit.
The Aboyne Dress, introduced in 1952, consists of a skirt of light-weight tartan worn over a white petticoat, with a plaid of the same tartan material and a tight fitting sleeveless velvet corsage over a white blouse. It was designed from the traditional Scottish woman's dress that was banned after the introduction of the Act of Proscription 1746.
