If the mlb didn’t intentionally try to end arods career, he could have beaten bonds record. They took two years from Arod through suspension and if Arod would have played just one more before retiring he could have broke the record. He was 66 home runs away from tying bonds. Divide that by 3 years and that’s 22 bombs a year. And easy feat for Arod
Bonds would’ve probably had more too for what it’s worth but you’re right. Wack in retrospect but the PED era is in the rear view mirror now for the most part because of how the MLB handled it all, so they achieved their goal in the end
Sure. Another home run record with a major fucking asterisk. This guy is a cheater and a hypocrite just like Bonds was. Neither belong in the hall of fame, neither belong in the record books.
Holy shit do you know how many fucking players do roids now a days. Yeah he did them, so. It was stupid for him to do them but he is still a great player and always will be
Who else teared up when his daughters ran on the field? My favorite player growing up, he made mistakes, but is a genuine person. Miss watching him play
cool story he was also my favorite yankee and we went to this game last minute. Ushers let us down to the 5th row on 3B side for the 9th inning. Was so cool to be there right behind his family, not to mention the thunder during his interview. such a cool experience
Being at the game was a huge turning point for me. I always hated A-Rod, but being there you could see just how much he loved and cared about the game. My opinion changed after this
A-Rod never got the love from Yankees fans that he deserved. I remember talking to some other Yankee fans when they signed him and they were so defensive of Jeter's legacy that they were saying ridiculous crap like, "A-Rod is SOOO overrated. He's no Jeter." I loved Jeter, but A-Rod was a much better all-around player than Jeter. He just came late to the party.
@@juanyanira Yeah, he's probably Top 10 or 15, but A-Rod was always better at all aspects of the game. The only reason A-Rod moved to 3rd when he came to NY was because Jeter was there first and the fans would have howled that it was some sort of sacrilege to move Jeter from SS A-Rod was far superior in the field than Jeter and it would have made more baseball sense for A-Rod to be at SS. But Jeter had already been granted Babe Ruth status by the media and fans so A-Rod was never going to get that spot.
He was skilled, but many surpass him in talent. And the drug usage, which may not have affected his career, but declined him a ticket to Cooperstown. Even with the drug usage he’s not as good as some that don’t use drugs.
He was going to be the MVP of the 2009 World Series until Hideki stole the show with his amazing performance in the clinching game. But Alex's performance in the entire playoffs was magnificent.
Arod is in the discussion as probably one of the tops five players ever.At least hitters. He oozed talent from day one.People forget how popular he was. He's probably the most beloved of the steroid boys and will be in the hall after a few years in purgatory for his past sins..He was an awesome talent!!..
@@bahapanties list is right on except for maybe Pujols. He’s had maybe the greatest 1st half of a career EVER!.And that carried him to his numbers today.I might slide Rickey Henderson in there.maybe..
I will never forget that game. Sitting in the bleachers that night was electric. The stadium was shaking when Arod got that hit. The highlights also forgot the lightning bolt that struck right before the game when they were giving Arod some gifts and rewards!
Alex y griffey fueron mis favoritos toda la vida. Para mi Alex es el pelotero más completo . Como, tantos jonrones, carrera remolcadas, y cuando estuvo en el short stop ese tipo fue una bestia
They screwed Alex. He only needed what 4 homeruns to 700. Had he got that 700 the Yankees would of owed him that hug bonus that’s why they didn’t let him.
Still better than that punk Bryce Harper. Sure, he had just as much ego, but no one will say that A-Rod wasn't a go-to-guy in the clubhouse. I will miss him despite the drug usage, and it's a shame that his HOF worthy career had to end like that.
Daniel Anderson he doesn't deserve to be in the HOF he juiced! Sadly there's already juicers in the HOF. Pete Rose is more worthy than ARod ever will be
Daniel Anderson ARE U INSANE. BRYCE HARPER IS UNREAL AND LAST TIME I CHECKED HES NOT A CHEATER. WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH U. whatever we all have our opinions even though yours is wrong
From a statistical standpoint (2007 notwithstanding), A-Rod was an exceptionally good player for the Yankees over those 12 seasons. And as we all know, we don't win the '09 World Series without him. In the bigger picture, he was very good. The only thing that kept him from becoming great was himself.
Lifelong Yankee fan here. But the cold truth is that the Yankees signed A Rod at the perfect time. And I'll tell you why. If they had signed A Rod years earlier it would have made Derek Jeters slightly above average career look that much smaller. The organization would never have allowed A Rod to Dwarf a guy like Jeter on the field. Cause that's what would have happened. Much more talented ball player than Jeter.
Did you know that A-rods number 13 is (-2) Opposite of Jeter number 2.... 1-3= -2 Is a nice link since they were both shortstops and A-rod moved to 3rd when he came to NY. hmm
1:06 The 2-2, Line Drive Base Hit!.. Souza cannot cut it off and it'll go to the wall, Gardener will score!, Arods at second. He has an RBI double, and the Yankees have tied the Game to 1!
A-rod has a good career. Could've had a great career but steroids tarnished it but look at the years he wasn't on steroids. Especially 2009 and the year he came back from suspension, 30+ home runs
Arod was already the best MLB player at the time why take steroids just to be hated? He was already hitting 50-60 homerun a season why do you need to increase that?
I can't argue with someone who was at the game. I am sure Joe was actually quite beat up. Just his body language and most of the team just didn't seem like it they were really "that" bothered. I guess I can see why people enjoyed A-Rods presence.
That's sucks after you have the best career in basseball and then ending like arod did is terrible a lot of people love arod I didn't like him because I was a Boston's fan at that time
