Nice job team! and great organization from Italy. Hungarian fans felt home in the World Cup. I thought without Bartalis will be harder but after a poor start and difficulties we became a real team at the end of the tournament. HU

As a hungarian fan i was there for the whole tournament, and damn was that hard for everyone. The head coach who was leading us for the Group A tournament in 2023 suddenly decided to leave the team despite having a contract for one more year, the hungarian federation was unable to find a replacement, the olympic qualification tournament was getting close, still the team was without a head coach. One week before that tournament, the director of development hired himself as the head coach, the whole thing was a mess, and the players knew it too. 6 senior players, who were the backbones of this team decided to turn down the opportunity when they received their calls for this tournament, basically our 3rd and 4th line players were 20-21 years old and having their very first international event. We were even more of a mess when we had 2 practice games against Poland and they swept the ice with us both times, just 2 weeks before this tournament. The self appointed head coach didnt have any idea what he was doing, so the players were the ones who tried to put the game plan together and turn the situation around without any leadership coming from the coach. When the tournament started, i would have been somewhat satisfied if we wouldnt get relegated to be honest, especially after seeing that Korea-Slovenia opener, i thought that this pace would be unbearable for our young ones. When the players were interviewed after the first 2 eins against Japan and Korea, they didnt state this word for word, but they kinda gave the expression that they have very little idea about how they did it, and tried not stirring up drama and never mentioned whats going on behind the scenes in the locker room. Basically players were regularly arguing with the HC about him giving them tasks they are not suited for, less ice time, putting and withdrawing them from special lines, etc. Then after the defeat against Romania it all blew up. Just for the ones who dont know: Romanias team basically consists of ethnic hungarians, who are not talented enough to compete for Hungary, because if they are, they receive their call ups, see the likes of Sofron, Csanad Erdely, Arpad Mihaly, and so on. After that defeat, one of our key players called the HC a clown in his public interview, it was breaking news at home, tabloids were full of this, and we had the 2 hardest games coming up, and the team had to deal with this crap on the off-day too. Im dead sure that any other team in the world would have collapsed, but our guys knew they couldnt let the national flag on their jerseys down, so with the head coach still having 0 idea, the players once again had to figure out what to do by themselves. The HC decided to go to the background (probably for the advice of the federation), the assistants carried the team forward, and somehow pulled off this miracle. Some say Slovenia wasnt fighting as hard, but damn they did, they really wanted to beat us, if nothing else, than for the higher bonuses which they would have received if they had won the tournament. Also huge huge credits have to go for the leaders of the crowd. People probably think we just turn up in bunches and chant and feel good, but thats far from the case. Stuff has to be organized, drums carried, flags installed before the game, we really want the players to feel like they are playing at home, no matter the distance and the circumstances, and i really hope they did. Also we have like 3 or 4 leaders for the crowd, and those guys always have to pay attention to the crowd, and never the game itself as the chanting has to be synchronized within every sector. We have those 3 or 4 guys who were literally following the team for 20+ years ro every tournament, and those blokes literally missed every huge hungarian hockey history moments, despite being at every venue, because they are *always* facing the crowd and conduct, and usually their voices are gone after 3 games but they dont let up for a second. Also i thought this would be a nice relaxing trip to Bolzano like a holiday, but was utterly exhausted by the end instead. The journey took a whole day, the rink was quite far away from the apartments for more than half of the fans, having to travel large distances daily to make it in time. So was for me, it always took my entire day to make it in time to the rink, then the 1 hour gaps between games were barely enough to look for food and some drinks, and then going back. The public transport in the Bolzano area is kinda OK, everything is super clean and tidy, but if your apartment was in the neighbouring towns like mine was, then its tough luck. I remember having to climb uphill after midnight for many miles which took almost 2 hours, on two separate evenings, already tired after chanting, with only my cameras flashlight helping to make sure i wont get run over by cars in the utter darkness. And in sure all of my fellow fans have stories like this to tell, but hey, we do it for our team that gives us miracles like this. The scenery was beautiful though and i already miss Bolzano and hop to visit soon. Also a huge thanks for the organizers who were always friendly throughout and the city for hosting - if i can recommend for anyone reading this, you should really visit the Südtirol area someday - its amazing. Only because of war( missing Russia and Belarussia teams) teams like Hungary or this year Poland can play in the elite. I don 't mean it bad, wish you good games, but it is true. Enjoy your one year championships in 2025...but to stay with elite you will need too much luck, because you lack quality. I wish Czech and Slovak final match, but this is also only in my dream . But it would be excellent match .....number one atmosphere in Prague for both our teams and tasty czech beer 🇸🇰🤝🇨🇿 👍
