Munich is a classic European destination and is one of our favorite cities to visit during Christmas time. We first visited the famous Christmas Markets of Munich back in 2013. We knew that we wanted to come back again someday if there was ever a chance. This time we brought along our daughter Vivi, which makes this trip even more special.
During this trip, we found a new love for German food. We always "liked" German fare every once in a while, but we finally got to experience it like we never had before. In this video, we will showcase some of our favorite restaurants (with reviews of course), take a walk through history in some of the streets & museums, and visit the Christmas Markets around the city. Thanks for tuning in and hit the subscribe button if you haven't already!

About Us:
We have been married since 2009 and reside near Pittsburgh, PA. Even before we were married, we loved planning trips and traveling to cool destinations. It has now become our passion and we love diving into new foreign cultures, food, and attractions. We started making home DVDs for our own keepsake many years ago. It was a great way to preserve memories and re-live those moments whenever we wanted. We eventually found that uploading these videos to RU-vid made a lot of sense. We could share them with family and friends across the country in real time, on smart TVs, Ipads, and smart phones. That eventually led to us creating the “Matt n Rach” RU-vid Channel. Our focus now is not only to preserve our memories, but to include educational and useful information for our viewers as well.
In 2022 we had our daughter, Vivienne, who is now a big part of our traveling team. Traveling with a small child certainly has its challenges, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We hope you enjoy our content and please leave a comment if you liked our video or have some something you’d like to share. We love hearing from our viewers!!

You wont hear people from munich complain about Andechser beer. Its just a 30 minute trip with the S-Bahn to Ammersee lake. A famous daytrip location for locals. Actually i would even say they have the best dark beer. But with this logic Erding isnt in Munich too or Freising (Weihenstephan) (the airport is between Erding and Freising) or Tegernseer. They are also half an hour away by S-Bahn and Tegernseer 20 minutes more by train. But we consider them local beers. And most breweries were established by monks. Augustiner, Franziskaner, Weihehstephan, Andechs were all monks. Munich was build by monks in the first place. Even the name Munich stems from the word for monks which is mönch and the local name for Munich is München. I think the first building of the city was a monastery. Actually way back in the day Augsburg was the big town not munich where today Munich is way bigger.

So Matt, I really like your videos. I discovered you when I was going to Iceland. (We even stayed at the Scuggi that you recommended) I gotta ask? What do you guys do for a living? You always get to travel!. Your daughter is precious. Tell Rach to look happier, she always looks tired (rightfully so) and bored....But she is sweet. Trying to help your channel!

Hi Julie- thank you so much for the kind words. How was your stay at the Scuggi in Iceland? Hopefully it worked out for you. Up until we had Vivi we both worked but each of us had a good amount of vacation. I’m in sales and Rach was in a family business. Now Rach doesn’t work and I am in between jobs. So we’ve had tons of free time the last 7 months or so. Half the time I’m filming, Rach isn’t aware. lol. Believe me, she gets more excited about the travel than I even do. Really appreciate the support.

Do you know the story of Georg Elser and his failed assassination attempt on Hitler in the Bürgerbräukeller 1939?

Will be there first week of May! Of the 3 times you’ve been to Munich, what’s been you’re biggest highlight?

Wow. That’s awesome, you’ll have a great time. That’s a tough question. The beer, history, and pedestrian friendly streets are the first things that come to my mind when I think of “Munich”. So much to see there. We didn’t even get into a lot of it on this trip.

Things that will immediately out you as an American in Germany: Dipping pretzels in mustard. We don't do that AT ALL, my heart is bleeding 😂 And Augsburg is not a "suburb town", it's the third biggest city in Bavaria and doesn't belong to Munich or anything. It's quite a few km away actually and even a different administrative (and culturally very different) region. It'd be an insult to them to associate them with Munich actually haha We don't really have anything that's like suburbs either in general.
