The 45th edition of the Dakar has come to an end in Dammam after 14 stages that saw dramatic turnarounds in every category. Nasser Al Attiyah's victorious campaign did not come as a surprise, but his first successful title defence earned him the fifth triumph of his career and the distinction of winning by the widest margin seen in the car race in 20 years. Second at 1 h 20, Sébastien Loeb bent the knee to the Qatari, but he also added his name to the Dakar record books with a string of six consecutive stage wins (seven in total).
The scenario that unfolded in the motorbike race was even crazier. In a first for the category, Kevin Benavides seized the lead on the very last day, knocking Toby Price from the top of the general standings to prevail by 43 seconds, the narrowest winning margin ever in the Dakar.

Thanks for an amazing Dakar, props to everyone, editors, heli pilots flying like 5m above the trucks like they are fpv drones. big up the medics, pit staff, cleaners, tech wizards, hospitality and every other staff and spectator at Dakar thanks for a great start to my 2023 I was in Egypt in vacation and coming back to the resort and to hear a family voice talking over Dakar truly great! Great coverage and great commentary.

What ? Amazing coverage ? In the 80’s we had more than 1 hour of race footages every day, with extra shows the week-end and for the closure.

the scenes are breath taking. I am Saudi, but I have never seen that much of my country apparently. It is time to plan a trip around the country after this Amazing Dakar this year. the Coverage was great, commentary, great coverage from the skies and the earth and fantastic editing. Thanks to all the support of organizing this event amazingly. Toyota GR better watch out next year. Even with 3 cars only 1 got to the podium. Lackluster performance. Even Chicherit was more fun to watch. The Audis have proven reliable and barring the mishaps this year would have beaten Toyota GR easily. The star of this rally was Loeb taking half the stages with six in a row. Loeb also overcame puncture problems at Stage 2 which in my opinion just like the flooded river beds is poor route selection by the organizers. Al Attiyahs strategy of sitting pretty may win a rally but is a fools paradise long term.
