Sligo Rovers recorded one of the most famous victories in the club's 94 year history with a 3-0 aggregate win over Scottish Premiership side Motherwell, to progress to the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Leading 1-0 from the first leg last week, The Bit O' Red had the perfect start as Shane Blaney's stunning free kick gave them the lead after just 4 minutes. Sligo Rovers were never truly troubled and sealed the win in added time as Max Mata raced clear to send The Showgrounds into raptures and seal a 3-0 aggregate win. Rovers will now face Norwegian outfit Viking in the third qualifying round, with the first leg away on Thursday 4th August.

I heard a guy on Thogden's channel say Ireland is the only country in Europe that doesn't show their top tier football league on the national broadcaster. Absolutely shocking. Well done Rovers and Pats. You done Ireland proud last night.

Well that's not right because the Premier League isn't shown on BBC. Ireland is the only country where the clubs don't get money from the TV deal though

Irish soccer teams cannot be ignored anymore , they are getting better and I would like to see more of them going full time , I hope our best Academy players don't go across the water and stay in Ireland, also the FAI should be pumping money into junior soccer from now on. These players should start to take themselves more seriously because they're bloody good and they're proving it, dundalk making group stages few yrs ago etc , Well done pats and sligo from a corkonian

Proud night for all Sligo Rovers fans. Thanks to all associated with the team and club for doing us so proud and thanks to all real fans of the other LoI clubs who have been wishing us well. St Pats deserve massive credit also for knocking out a huge club that beat Spurs in the group stages last year. Finally, a word for the Motherwell fans who in my experience were sound and added to a great atmosphere on the night. Let’s hope the Irish clubs make it to the group stages of a European comp this year.

Clueless commentators suggesting Mata was going to be sent off and then saying he got away with it just because the ref took out his notebook to record the goal.

Commentator was on the money. Mata was already on a yellow. By celebrating infront of the away fans Mata should have been yellow carded. Ref had recorded the score and once Mata had gone to celebrated the ref had gone over to him and had reached for his book. Commentator and co Commentator were correct.
