I’m amazed MLS actually put the ref collision in the highlights. They struggle so hard to try and claim this is professional level officiating and match after match it’s head scratching moments that keep happening and are the focus of most postgame discussions.

Lol, the ref was a joke... And I am not even talking about the collision in the end... But the penalties... the first one, the guy tried to jump between two defenders, what did he expect, of course he's gonna fall and it's not the defenders' fault. He clearly did that to get the penalty and the ref fell for it. And then in the beginning of the 2nd half, what was that push in the penalty box? That could and should have been a penalty kick... So basically the game could have ended either way, just depends on the ref

@@EYLive79Only one defender back when the pass was played. As the attacker was ahead of the ball when it was played he was offside. Silly thing was he didn't need to be ahead of the play.

As an LAFC fan that ref blows. Unbelievable he needs to be reviewed for that. Play should have been stopped and given an indirect free kick. So sorry whitecaps fans y’all deserved a better game than that.

You can't give an indirekt free kick for Vancouver, if there was no foul by a lafc player.. In a case like this, only thing he could've done was a Referee ball.. But what he did was according to the rules. The problem is, that refs nowadays seem to think, that they have to be as close to the play as possible

Yeah if the ball hits the referee nowadays play is stopped (new rule…it used to just go on…) but if a player bumps into the ref, play cannot be stopped for this. Referee’s positioning is horrendous though…he should be much further out to the side and have his body half-turned. I’m a Sunday league ref and even I know that

@@trevorkew6097 positioning initially isn’t terrible, he is where he would typically be for that restart. His issue was that he didn’t bother to take a look around him before the kick. Should have known it’s a late kick, attackers will be going all out, more so than normal. More awareness is needed. Had he checked his surrounding before the kick he would have seen he had an alternate path to move to be in position to officiate and not run into attacker once that ball came out towards him. Critical mistake that should not have happened at this level.

Just a travesty. I'm sure Don Garber does not like how this turned out honestly. He has no control over the Pro Refs or other FIFA officials since they are independent of any football league but he needs to review MLS rules and tweak them for crap like this.

@@emericask8r130 seeing these last few Premiere League and now MLS games with horrible VAR calls and officiating leads me to believe that FIFA and these referee associations need to admit that the sport needs to be tweaked in this modern day. Maybe add a challenge capability like they have in the NFL. Other leagues now allow it and it leads to less nasty disputes.

The penalty was shady but still right at least in the VAR standards era, and lets just admit it, Takeoka kept this game alive for too long. Still, great effort from the Whitecaps against a better team.

Alright, MLS, what are you going to do about this. The league has had poor Refs for years. There was an attempt to make it better, and now it is back. So how are we going to correct it. Or is this just LAFC the Franchise Team, and we need the Franchise Team to make it far in the playoffs, so do what you need to do to make sure that happens.

LAFC are trying. One or two of their players understand that at this point in MLS evolution, long distance strikes will be effective. All they need to do is put more power into their efforts.

Referee gave a penalty that was engineered by the LA guy and then at the end he grossly obstructed Whitecaps players and did not blow for a bounced ball. That may be the rules but definitely not in the spirit of the game.... and the rules should be changed by fifa so not just stopped when the ref touches the ball. A gross obstruction like that should not be used to one team's advantage. Oh and he did miss the definite gross push on a Vancouver player in the box.

The referee was at the same hotel of LAFC in Vancouver. Even that is embarrassing. Should'be allowed at all!! The referee got spotted talking with the coach of LAFC. MLS WAKE UP A D MAKE SOME FAIR RULES!! LEARN FROM THE UPCOMING WORLD CUP FF'S !!!!

@@LAFC. They only looked dangerous because LAFC shut it down to protect the lead after the goal. Vancouver had no ideas. Just a lot of long hopeful passes forward and a lot of flopping trying to get foul calls, especially by Laryea trying to get a penalty in the box.

Technically, the referee is part of the furniture, like the goal posts or the corner flag. He could have allowed the goal. I'm guessing he checked to make sure his interference did not look deliberate.

A lot of angry whitecap fans and salty galaxy fans complaining here 😂😂 Vancouver only scored 2 goals over two games because they were gifts from two LAFC defensive mistakes. Other than that, Vancouver was not good. Don't be mad at the ref, be mad at your team that didn't show up and couldn't come up with any plays to score goals. The ref was terrible in the last game of the season when he bought Laryea's flopping in the box. Didn't happen this time! See you next season.
