Why was Hikaru upset? He was down the last 1/2 of the match...and massively so. The engine was +6 with 15 moves prior to ending.

What am I missing at 10:29 ? Isn't Be3 still winning? The bishop isn't really pinned as you can protect the rook? Also in the end, aren't those two connected passers in the corner gonna win the game? Why did Kadric sac the rook so early? Just push the pawns and keep them connected..

@@victorio2580 Yeah, I overlooked that. True. Letting the bishop pin happen in the first place was horrible. It was something I noticed immediately. And after white sacks his rook for the pawn, I still felt like that white should at least try to win with the two corner past pawns. The black king is so far away, and in time trouble anything can happen. White couldn't lose in any case.

In chess,when you touch a piece as hikaru did, moving the hand up, it means you are re-positionating the piece without actually saying "I recompose". So it's not touch move.

Hikaru didn't win, it's called a DRAW. Hikaru is happy because he was down 1 pawn and a Bishop, but his opponent blendered the Bishop so Hikaru managed to save the game and not lose game points.

I wonder why the clock is not being replaced by an automatic system in blitz games. If I've seen that correctly in some games, including here, some players move their pieces before the opponent has operated the clock, is that allowed?

Its an awesome idea for sure but how would you design it? If you program it just like the normal timer works so that the opponents time starts after you put down your piece on your turn, there would be some problems. What happens if you accidentally knock down a piece/s, players also has a habit of adjusting pieces.

@@claudiog7692 the players actually playing the game always use the same board, so the chances stay equal. if both don't have a DGT board, both are in the same situation. by this logic it is unfair that titled players usually play on higher quality chess sets: I find cheap boards with plastic pieces and often poor colour scheme unreadable sometimes, certainly less than nice high end ones, BUT my opponents are handicapped by this just the same. similar thing goes for the conditions in playing venues. I used to sit on uncomfortable school chairs, surely it's harder to focus than in comfy armchairs players get to sit in at Tata Steel or other elite tournaments.

i think Hikaru wasn't expecting him to go for the draw since he was a bishop up, and if he tried to go for the win, Hikaru was confident that he could outplay him to win. not that it matters now anyways..

Might be easier to calculate that way (easier to see all the pieces lined up). Each chess player has a way they adjust their pieces, similar to how Magnus wants his pieces always centered perfectly.

Didn't see many "epic" expressions. What I did notice is BOTH players compulsively touching their hands to their beards, noses, lips,...and then handling the pieces!!! Nakamura was also coughing consistently throughout the match. They're also both maskless & less than 6 feet apart! So much for any protocol! Chess is just a microcosm of just how random and inconsistent we humans have been during this "pandemic"!!!
