"Get out of my car." 😄 It was cool getting the full perspective of this trip. It think that purple under quilt looks sharp and yeah, the UQ is a huge improvement over trying to use a pad. Glad I tracked you guys down. And glad I made it back before that heavy stuff came down!
Oh no doubt, that rain came down!! It was probably enough running through the slop of the earlier storm lol. Very glad to meet you and look forward to getting a chance to hang out! I switched hammocks this weekend and, while mine was good, this one is better and I think I am a convert.
Hey It’s Gary ! & dad !! Always glad to watch your videos my friend. The views are spectacular. It’s amazing what one can experience if you step just a bit away from your regular day and the common paths. For my job I’m up super early (around 04:00) and waking my dogs is a treat of wildlife and birdsong that most folks miss in exchange for some sleep. Watching a sunrise with a hot coffee lifts my soul. Seeing you and dad with that awesome lake and a hot tea is to see two blessed men. Looking forward to your upcoming videos and journeying along with you on youtube. Also; I’ma gonna check out Tyler Marshall’s music. He’s got a great sound. Wishing you all the best from the Dismal Swamp ! May all your journeys be adventures and your havens safe.
John! Hello!! I like to type my replies from the computer and my keyboard died so I had to wait for a new one but it was sure funny watching the gibberish it typed lol. I just found out we have a Dismal Brook Wildlife Preserve which I intend to explore. I am an early riser also and I completely agree that it adds to life. The sights and sounds you find when there isn't the noise from others hustle and bustle are inspiring. Thank you John. All the best, Gary and Gary.
A beautiful sunrises makes up for overnight rain! I love that section between the Dawley Pond Shelter and Beach Pond. I agree with you Seth is a serious runner. Looking forward to you continuing adventures.
That sounds like my wife at times. Great camp good food time with Dad. I have whacked my head laying on the bunk in my shelter got wheels I'm putting on it so I can roll it in and out still probably won't work all the time. Lol
there aint no stopping your dad...(that's great to see). also, your cinematography on the stream shots were very nice and the background tunes were a nice added touch!!
Hey great video and I love all your work you put into these. Also right here in good ole home the nutmeg state! You mentioned not knowing the names of all the trails but you had set up your hike with topo maps. Maybe you could do a video on how and or what resources you use to map out a hike. Like websites for info on a area or maybe even apps such as far out (if it even covers blue blazed trails) for aid to help build these great hikes. Maybe you just say the heck with it and wing it and make it it work, it is an adventure right?! lol Love the videos man Thanks
Larry, I could do that for sure. Thanks for the idea. I use a few apps or websites and I could talk about them. Thank you and I hope you are having a fantastic weekend.
Hey josh, for sure and I really don't mind the color now TBH. Just snagged a top quilt (should be here in a day or two) so now my hammock setup is about complete! do you hammock or tent camp? I do whatever I feel is best for the area I am going.
@@ConnecticutBackcountry I live in RI and have been camping in the Pachaug forest since I was a kid. I got into hammock camping about 2 years ago but aside from a few nights here and there I haven't been able to get out on the trail with it but I'm hoping to change that. I have a warbonnet eldorado with a cheap onetigris UQ and my sleeping bag as a TQ. I'm looking for an upgrade on both though
@@joshalmeida1821 That's a solid setup. My sleeping bag was my top quilt for a while (until today actually) and I made my first hammock. No worries on low cost gear here. I built what I have slow and a bunch through resale sites. You get what you need and then go from there, gotta respect that! I am hoping to get on the trail more myself, I had a bit of a dry spell last summer and fall. I'll be out this weekend I hope! Keep your fingers crossed for me lol.
Oh bro I wish I could say I was an authority but to be honest, I’m not. I hear people have great luck with bridge hammocks. I, personally, am distinctly a side sleeper. I bought an Eno double nest and can’t sleep in it. I made an 11 foot gathered end hammock and sleep well in it but my zipper is wonky and then I found an 11 foot hammock from a guy by the name Jeff Meyers on the hammock gear resale site on Facebook. And I sleep soundly in that. It was a great price and comparable to name brand hammocks. I made some loops and whoppie slings for it myself. Let me know if you would like and I can send you the link to the Facebook group. :)
