Hi friend! I finally got around to painting my hiker whirligig, and while I was at it, I installed some gears to slow down the action and improve the reliability of the mechanism, so I thought I'd show you the changes.

So cool that you got to thru-hike the PCT. My dream was to do that with the AT, but a car accident removed that possibility. But I live very near the AT now, and I get to go stand on it. 😆

Hi Lynn! Yeah, it was quite an experience. This year I've been watching a channel called "Wandering with Wilson." She's hiking the AT for the first time. They say the AT is harder because the trails are steeper in places. They try to keep the PCT at a 7% gradient, but since the AT is older, it''s steeper than 7% in a lot of places (I hear). @@ToddAndrewCole I checked out Wandering With Wilson. She was on Blood Mountain where I've accessed the trail on the Day 4-5 video. I've been under the shoe tree. She said it was where people decided to end the hike, but not all do. Some are just tossing their worn shoes up when they buy replacements at the store there. I bought my hiking boots there, and my trekking poles.

Hi Lynn1 Yeah, he was quite a character when I met him. He also used to put the tobacco from his cigarette butts back into his bag of tobacco.

Hi Ducelick! Thank you. I'm going to send you one of these bearing blocks for your whirligig. My aunt was visiting yesterday, and she really loved my grandma and the grandkids whirligig. The wind has been howling the past 24 hrs, so grandma and grandkids have been going for quite a wild ride, but they seem to be hanging in there just fine. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week!

Hi Heidi When I was in the Army in Germany, we got to go on Adventure Training, hiking ing in the Austrian Alps, and the guides who led us had amazingly huge calves, so I take my inspiration partially from them. Thanks for stopping by. See you soon.
