This channel features videos from a man obviously obsessed with his parrot Peaches, whirligigs, automata, wood carving, poetry, and long-distance hiking. The pure graphene mix is probably stronger - but it wets very poorly, so you basically need to mix it before use like an epoxy. This is not easy with cyanoacrylate because it hardens so fast. Need to work fast and waste more (expensive) glue. I think that is why the 50/50 graphene/sodium carbonate is suggested - because it is much more practical when you can manage to wet it directly on the area you need it.

Really nice job. Your painting is improving with each piece. Might I suggest dry brushing just a bit of the same color you have on his nose tip across his knuckles. It will add to the realism of the piece. Rule of thumb: highlight knuckles, knees and elbows.

I think the smoke is great! I hope to buy one of your whirligigs within the next two years after I get my basement apartment built. It will have a tiny yard out the door. 😊 I wanted wind chimes, but some people get annoyed by the noise, and I'll be right underneath two bedrooms. So I've changed to a whirligig, and also a windspinner.

There seems to be a critical ratio of the distance between the direct drive and the up/down lever. I had to go through several iterations to get the exact(ish) distance that allows the up/down lever from arcing down or up too far and stalling the driver.
Ah, the joys of whirligig making! It takes a bit of tinkering to get things to work right, but the problem solving is good exercise for the brain if you can keep from getting frustrated and just enjoy the ride. I'm sure there's some math involved in getting the right ratio, but I never took geometry, so I use trial and error. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week!
Hi musicman! I keep re-painting them. I also spray them with a clearcoat. Lately, I've been giving everything several coats of linseed oil before I paint them. I just received the blades from Etsy and nice to see you have this video available! I was scratching my head a little at first but this makes it perfectly clear! Glad I found your video's and items for sale on Etsy. I have limited tools so the hubs and gear box would be very difficult.
