i love this show because the camera crew doesnt seem to be that intrusive. they just have the bodycams, some static cameras and the actual camera person seems to just stand back out of the way of the patient

Normally what they do, at least in Austria and Switzerland is put ketamine and morphine in. When your going up you have no clue what's going on :). From experience getting air evaced is pretty freaking cool, well despite the critical injuries part !

It’s a typical English thing to do, but Canada originally being a colony of the British empire, has a lot of English tendencies. It’s the same with Australia and many other places that were populated by English settlers.

I always think of the hospital bill if they get one in Canada or England wherever they are because in the US that would be easily 250,000 if you don’t have health insurance
@ArminGrewe
@ArminGrewe 2 года назад
They don't get one in the UK. Because according to some we're all commies here. Or socialists. Because we pay national insurance and taxes to pay for the health service as well as other emergency services (and the air rescue helicopters are mostly run by charities).
@thwalesproductions
@thwalesproductions Год назад
Hospital bill would be near £0 depending on what you buy in hospital but for emergency care including the helicopter it's £0

@artspooner
@artspooner 3 года назад
Brits are known for apologising for anything eg saying sorry to somebody who has bumped into you. Could it possibly be that both countries do it rather than one more than the other!?! (This is without taking into account the traits Canadians acquired from the British!).

I know the people in North America like to steal others' culture and call it their thing, but the UK has existed for much longer and they literally always apologize for everything. Apologize and stop being ignorant.

In the Alps, (Switzerland, Austria, Germany) every rescue helicopter is able to winch or lift patients with a rope. It´s a standard procedure done on an every day bases, especially in winter. Seems a bit weird why they are making it so complicated...

The first helicopter is just a charity service. They aren't trained on search and rescue just very serious medical episodes. Coast guard helicopters[second one] all do winching.

Different specialities for different jobs. UK Air ambulance are a hybrid of ambulance and trauma room/emergency department. Usually carrying equipment for potentially invasive procedures. Coastguard are equipped for collecting people off ships or cliffs but wouldn't be so handy for dealing with patients requiring invasive procedures. One's a screwdriver, the other's a spanner. Useful tools for the right job.

I am surprised they don't have a basket to winch the patient up into the chopper in such environment. This is nuts.
@nevillemason6791
@nevillemason6791 2 месяца назад
What are you talking about? Someone who's injured is carefully positioned on a stretcher (and strapped to it to ensure they don't fall off) and protected from being bumped. They're then winched up with the paramedic. That's exactly the correct procedure. It's only in places like the USA that they treat people like a sack of potatoes and dump them in an open cage where they could fall out (or panic and jump).

@nevillemason6791
@nevillemason6791 2 месяца назад
'Someone of her age..' How breathtakingly prejudiced that remark is! At precisely what age would you ban people walking the countryside? Mountain rescue organisations are constantly called out to people who go hiking and get exhausted because they're hopelessly unfit. Nearly all are quite young people. Should they be banned for being overweight?
