I finally made it into Tweedsmuir (South) Park and the Rainbow Range, where we camp at McCauley Lake and hike up Tusulko (37-50) Peak and Northpin Peaks. The vibrant mountainsides and open ridges are beautiful to hike under open skies and the views go on and on. Thanks for watching!

This was just a warm up for what we were about to embark on next in the Bella Coola backcountry! I'm working on that video now!

I'd love to see some drone action of Hunlen Falls. And maybe get another count on the number of switchbacks to get there! (64 or 65?!)

Hiked 2 weeks in Tweedsmuir from Talchaiko lodge, maybe 20 miles inland from Bella Coola. This was in mid-July, 1973. It snowed EVERY day and we camped on snow every night. Had to traverse one of the deep valleys one day and I thought oh boy, we could camp at least 1 night without snow. Nope, the mosquitoes were so fierce there was absolutely no possibility, and yes we were all lathered up in repellent. Attempted to climb Mt Tzueatzel (sp) but due to high winds had to bivouac close to the summit. My tent blew over about 3 am and spent the remaining hours until daylight huddled against a rock. Got the hell off as quickly as possible. Two weeks of this without a cache. Lost 15 lbs I really couldn't afford to lose. After arriving back at the lodge hitch-hiked to Coola and got the biggest milkshake at the local cafe. I hitched from central CA there via Williams Lake, and hitched back. On the way back awaiting my 1st ride from the lodge I sat alone by the gravel road when I heard rustling behind me. I was reading an Ian Fleming paperback. I knew what it was, because had seen them and been warned. I seriously thought I was a goner. Stood up very slowly and turned slowly, and yep, a big bear. Don't know if it was a Kodiak or brown or what but I must of been down wind because it hadn't noticed, with head down. I just stood there....and I swear that bear got to within 10-15 ft. At that point bear raised its head and we looked at each other. I was rock solid. Bear froze. I suffered 65 broken bones (just kiddin') the bear turned and wandered off. I'm almost 70 now, and I still think about it sometimes.

Of course you stopped at the Nimpo store- our cabin is 5 mins closer to Williams Lake, across the hwy, right on the lake. The town of Nimpo Lake is my second home with our hunting cabin. Everyone in town is awesome and we have a great little family town there.

Thank you for the video!! I grew up near the north end of the Tweedsmuir park and I always heard stories of a trail that started at our end and then carried down into Bella Coola - I believe the trail is called the Alexander McKenzie trail. To get to the trail head you need to take a guide to bring you across the portage and then from there, the guide will bring you to the trail head. The portage in on Oosta Lake in an area called Whitesail, which brings you into Eutsuk lake. The scenery on the south end of the park is incredibly different than the north end. Thanks for this!!

Yep, you're right that's the Alexander Mackenzie trail, also known as the Grease Trail. Maybe one day I will do it. Thanks Tyler!

She will always celebrate everyone at the top, or at the campsite, or at the end, that's her way of expressing her enjoyment!

Great video Luke! The colour is amazing in the Rainbow Range! I've wanted to travel there for a long time as it is a heavily eroded shield volcano and the geology is fascinating. I'll just have to enjoy this video until I can do a road trip visiting all the volcanoes in western Canada!
