What an amazing place you found to explore. One of my BF's loves to rock hop, me, not so much - but I do follow (or sometimes lead) for as much as I can, and Wow! Am always glad that I have. Seen some real beauty, and you know not many others have ventured that way... (big clue ... no litter). I agree, we should always know what weight we're carrying. I actually have a pack-list for o'night hiking that includes the weight of each item. It's interesting to see how much we can get that down. For me the lowest is about 10kg - then add water to that. Thanks for sharing, and that sun on the cliffs - always cool to watch those colours.

Thanks Shaz. Yes such a beautiful place. Love the spreadsheet. I have one too with all my gear and it’s so fun tinkering with different gear and weight combos. I never add the weight of the beer to my pack weight though haha. I think my lowest weight is about 5kg but only in summer time

Awesome adventure mate! Bet you were glad to find that sand to camp on, it was looking pretty rocky there for a bit. I almost pulled the trigger on the same sleeping bag, but ended up going for their Helium 300, can't wait to test it. Cheers Erik.
@KateGrarock
@KateGrarock Год назад
Totally re the sand. Was good to have the moondance with the smaller footprint and freestanding. There earlier spots were very tight but this was a pearler. Will have to go back when it’s warm to appreciate the water. Oh so cool re helium. I was interested in that one. I was super impressed with the amount of space inside my bag. To be honest I’ve been a quilt person for a long time as I feel claustrophobic in most ultralight sleeping bags but these bags strike a great balance re size and weight. Now we both need to just get the whole range so we have a sleeping bag for ever single weather condition 😝

What an awesome trip. One of the first things I noticed when you started walking the gorge was the size of some of the flood debris. Sooo much power in water. I was thinking about the sheer volume of water that must have pushed through that gorge. I'll bet your feet were like prunes by the time you finished too. I would love to do a trip like that but I'm waiting to see a specialist about a hip replacement and even after I see the specialist, it's quite a long wait to have the op. In the meantime I'll just have to enjoy watching your escapades. 😃❤️

Gorgeous gorge! Late to the party, I just discovered your channel. I think big brother watched me search 'budawangs' and next thing one of your videos turned up in the feed. I've loved going armchair bushwalking with you. You have an amazing knowledge set - ultralight + bushcraft + ecology + videography - and come across really well as a presenter. And that laugh somewhere between giggle and cackle is gold! I definitely owe you a couple of beers for your efforts and myself a kick up the bum to get out there more often. Thank you, I hope you keep these coming.

This was such an inspiring video! I was really sharing your excitement at the beauty of that gorge. Quick question: how do you find carrying your knife in the drop sheath? Drop leg pistol holsters have a strap around the thigh to prevent movement, but that'd be a bit OTT for a knife. Do you find the dangling annoying? Particularly on this sort of trip?

Nice one. Mont is a terrific company. I have stacks of their gear. It's just one of the great Australian outdoor companies we Aussies should be supporting rather than "my fellow 'mercans". I am intrigued by the name "campfire Jesus". Has a touch of the kumbaya's about it. Anything with the J word in it immediately gives me the shits.

Absolutely agree with Mont comments. I always thought there gear was too heavy for my style of hiking but I’m so excited by some of there cool lighter weight stuff. Loved the sleeping bag.
