The difficulty level is Strenuous? I have never seen a trail marked strenuous. That doesn't sound pleasant. But those views are incredible so it is probably worth the work to get there. Thanks for taking us along!
What time of year? I think this coming summer will be one of the most beautiful in years in the Sierra. There will be beautiful snowpack and raging waterfalls all summer because of the record snow this winter. This will be one of the best summers.

Wow - what a wonderful trail. Did you hike it in one day (and if so, do you recall how long it took?). We'll be in Sequoia in just a few days - still finalizing our hiking list. Also, any problems losing the trail in the snow?
Trail was well marked, and yes we did this hike as a day hike from 8 to 5;30(include 1/2hr break at the summit), Love Sequoia NP, have a great time! btw also we did the Heather, Emerald, and Pear Lake one before the Alta peak and it was beautiful! highly recommend. again Happy Trails!!😘
