Hiking in Sri Lanka GONE VERY WRONG!

Little Adam's Peak is located near the beautiful town of Ella in Sri Lanka. It's a relatively easy 30 minute walk up to the peak resulting in the most incredible 360 degree views of the surroundings and nature. Unfortunately, we weren't able to make the most of this because the weather had other ideas... and many lessons were learned 😅

The green fruit you had been trying is not actually a sweet fruit, though it is sold and eaten raw by some people in Sri Lanka. It is called NE-LL-I. In Aurwedic medicine (and ppl in SL) it considered to be highly beneficial to health and one of the three components of Thriphala. English Name is Indian Gooseberry (Emblica officinalis )(Amalaki in India)). Nelli fruit said to contain all five tastes. You bite a small piece at a time and keep chewing, but not strongly. The stone in the middle is not edible. After swallowing if you drink some water, you can feel the sweetness in your mouth. You can buy Nelli cordial in SL supermarkets. Remember to keep a polythene raincoat stuffed in your back pack wherever you go in SL. But the weather is still better than in Scotland this time of the year!

The Fruits you got for rs 50 is called nelli. Highly nutrishes, hard seed in it . Eat the flesh and chew for sometimes throw the powder our. It's bitter at the bigging, after few minutes your mouth becomes very sweet and kind a mint flavour. Drink few sips of water then it's becomes more sweeter. Keep enjoying and stay safe Happy journey Love from Srilanka

Hiking in Sri Lanka can be a wonderful experience, as the country is known for its lush green landscapes, scenic mountains, and stunning natural beauty. However, like any outdoor adventure, things can go wrong if proper precautions are not taken. Here's a description of a hypothetical scenario where a hiking trip in Sri Lanka takes a turn for the worse: Imagine a group of enthusiastic hikers embarking on a journey to conquer the challenging trails of Sri Lanka's central highlands. They are equipped with maps, essential supplies, and a spirit of adventure. The hike begins with excitement and anticipation as they navigate through dense forests, steep hills, and rocky terrain. As the day progresses, the weather starts to change unexpectedly. Dark clouds gather overhead, and distant thunder echoes through the mountains. The hikers, initially undeterred, continue their ascent, hoping to reach their designated campsite before the rain sets in. But as they climb higher, the rain intensifies, transforming the paths into slippery mudslides. Visibility decreases, and the treacherous conditions make progress increasingly difficult. The group's morale begins to wane as they realize they are ill-prepared for such harsh weather conditions. With limited shelter options, they decide to take refuge beneath a large overhanging rock. However, they soon realize that it's not adequate protection against the relentless downpour. The rock becomes a temporary but inadequate sanctuary as they huddle together, shivering and soaked to the bone. Night falls, and the darkness amplifies their sense of vulnerability. They have no choice but to spend a sleepless night, enduring the relentless rain and biting cold. With every passing hour, their hope diminishes, and anxiety sets in. The thought of being stranded in the wilderness, far from civilization, becomes a haunting reality. Morning arrives, but the weather shows no signs of improving. The group, now physically exhausted and mentally drained, must make a difficult decision. They realize that contin Finally, after what feels like an eternity, they reach a lower elevation where the rain subsides and the terrain becomes less demanding. Exhausted but relieved, they continue their descent until they eventually encounter a local village. The villagers offer them shelter, warmth, and nourishment, providing the group with a much-needed respite from their harrowing ordeal. This experience serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of outdoor adventures, emphasizing the importance of thorough preparation, adequate equipment, and knowledge of local weather patterns. It also highlights the resilience and camaraderie that can arise in the face of adversity, as the hikers supported each other through the challenging circumstances they encountered during their ill-fated hike in Sri Lanka.

Yes. That is Amla, the fruit; Indian Gooseberry. It is bitter and sour. But if you drink water right after eating it, it becomes sweet and much hydrating. I don't usually eat more than three a season, and would only accept if offered - otherwise I would not buy it usually. Those are very neutricious though. I wouldn't like that much to goo through too intense of a flavour like that.
