Hiking in the French Alps on the Tour des Glaciers | PART 1 

It's summer and for me that means MOUNTAINS!!
The Tour of the Glaciers in the Vanoise Valley National Park is a high altitude (avg 2500m) loop trail starting and ending in Modane just across the Italian border. Less touristy than the Tour du Mont Blanc or the Dolomites side of the Alps which means sketchy terrain at times (that 3rd day man...), Nat Geo worthy animal encounters and blissful solitude.
It is forbidden to wild camp, use drones, bring pets, throw away rubbish (duh)(even in the rifugios they'd rather you take it with you), make fires, go off trail, damage the flora.
Camping is only allowed following bivouac rules: tent up between 6/7pm and down by 8am nearby the Rifugios. Perks? Being able to use their facilities and half board.
